what a great song and video, takes me back to my disco days and real music, used to be out thurs frid and sat nights dancing the night away in good company and great music, shame it isnt like that now, thanks for loading it
The original was recorded in mono - you can tell by the phase effect that this has been put though some machine to try and recreate something that never happened!!
This classic track by The Tams topped the UK charts in the late summer/early autumn of 1971 ...... but, in actual fact, it had been recorded some 7 years earlier than that; in 1964.
The record that knocked "Hey Girl Don't Bother Me" off the top of the charts - at the beginning of October 1971 - was Rod Stewart's superlative "Maggie May". There were certainly some excellent singles around, in those days - 40 years ago.
'Stay out of my arms, don't bother use your charms' - Ahhhh. Someone ought to use this in a film soundtrack. Great song, wonderful performance, throat-swelling memories.
It was re-issued on the back of the Northern Soul boom at the time along with other re-issues by Tami Lynn, Fascinations, Formations, Velvelettes, Elgins, Newbeats, Doris Troy and more
Ithink Be Young be Foolish be Happy is probably the best song ever. The only one that might give it a run for its money is This Old Heart of Mine by The Isley Brothers. Oh how I miss the Tams and all of Beach music. There is nothing like it!!!
One of my all-time favorite Tams tunes... Joe Pope and his gravelly voice are certainly missed but the current Tams still put on a magnificent show. BEACH MUSIC FOREVER!
@mactarheel And there's lots more where this came from...I've posted most of The Tam's biggest hits to YouTube over the past few years along with many of the all-time Carolina Beach Music favorites. Subscribe to my channel for an easier way to find them...thanks for your comments...Lanny (Nocaro)
Oh wow taken straight back to my youth! fantastic song loved this reminds me of my cousin and our nights dancing ha ha ha
