  • Sledge hammer and Ax training is old school stength and conditioning from before there was gyms everywhere with standardized equipment. It will get you strong all over and in great condition too. Check out our channel for some other cool hammer videos.

  • U mad at that tire bro?

  • а че стойку менять не надо ?

  • Recommended weight of Hammer?

  • @extazy17 20 grams

  • @qpae123 Isn't that too small though?

  • You want to get strong , build a Conan's Wheel on top of a mountain and disconnect from civilisation , only drink when it rains and eat tree barks ...

    Wow , that's what i call tough ...

    Fcuking freaks...

    Get a life...

  • I Have been training for boxing and muay thai and I think it's time to incorporate sledge hammer training into my workouts but I have never done it before, can someone give me tips to start off message me plz

  • Why would you not switch your stance when you switch grip?

  • i hope it bounces back in your face

  • dude get a life

  • i hoped the whole video he get the hammer in his face :D

  • try the mace ball technique with that hammer :-D

  • the idiots making fun of this are the biggest moranz ever, it drastically cuts ya back an rips it try it fools before mocking it.

  • Comment removed

  • i did this for a lil while. i was always kinda worried the hammer would bounce off the tire and hit me in the face tho lol.

  • Not to be one of those posters who are rude for no reason, but your stance is awful amigo, you can really mess up your back with that kinda form, as is your upper movement to get the hammer head back over your shoulders. You should think about correcting this before posting it as a demonstration video.

  • WTF is this? I'm honestly sick of guys putting these videos up of them acting like they know what they're doing. That's terrible form, a terrible explanation, and the way he's standing is just asking for that hammer to swing back and hit him in the legs. If you want to learn how to do things improperly and risk injury, watch guys like this. Plus who the fuck uses a wood handled hammer for this stuff? Be smarter than this guy and get fiber glass. My god!

  • This is one man I would not want to meet in an alley.

  • this is actually an old boxing technique thats been around for over a 100 years, of course they would chop wood instead but the form is the same. It trains hand eye coordination, strengthens and tones and the same time. Gets results in a way you cant really get with a machine or free weights. just proves that to get results you dont need fancy shakes or pricey gear.

  • what happens when you get a splinter?

  • If you're swinging righty your right foot should be in front of your left . Vice verse for a lefty swing.knees should be bent through out the whole swinging process .

  • anything that takes effort is exercise. You could move a couch back in forth in your living room for an hour and sell it as an exercise technique

  • lol careful not to wreck the wall

  • i got a splinter :'(

  • As said above lighter hammer works better for this. It's power routine and you should be simulating a power punch, so speed is important

  • Didn't Fedor Emelianenko popularize this training method in one of his videos?

  • could you describe me why is it good for your training? is it good for your lung or what? i have never do it.

  • waiting for him to bust that window

  • R.I.P. Tire. We'll miss you.

  • couple things... 1 its a tractor tire and 2 id like to see this guy really use a sledge is he was pounding concrete you wouldnt be so rigid

  • Another sick exercise. Great job and demo! I swing sledges and picks when working and its incredible how much of a workout u get from it.

  • at first i thought he was going to hit the wall

  • Could you have picked a more narrow place to throw around a hammer?LOL

  • I love how at 0:17 he says to pickup the hammer from the hammer point... Then immediately after, he does the opposite and just lets it bounce then pulls it back with his other hand for the rest of the video. Um.. yea.. Good job.

  • nice

  • Aren't you afraid that this elastic tire will bounce it back in your face?

  • emelianenko fedor do this training... when you do a lateral takedown is the same movement

  • Dude, if your bored, I should get you to come over to the shop and work as a striker if you can precisely hit a quarter every hit. That would make forging large billets of steel go a lot faster. Good luck and don't through out your shoulder.

  • Look, this is typically a fighting work out. We do this is Team Quest for a reason. Weight lifting is great for hypertrophy, to make it to a higher weight class, or isolated strength conditioning, but to be a fighter, you have to do sport-focused training, which this is.

This is the same as kettlebells, and tire flips. It combines strength conditioning with muscle unity training, and endurance conditioning. Want to get in fighting shape? This is an exercise to add to your work out.

  • Seems like a great excercise, but does it ever come back and hit you in the face... ouccch. aha

  • brilliant exercise. trains the body to work together (unify) vs weight lifting where you isolate muscles. We do this exercise in bagua and chinese wrestling. In response to the guys that "don't get it" (vectornyi and athenamarie) - keep practising what you guys do and leave the real training to the experts please...

  • this would really work I rate this

  • thx for the video

  • Is the head on this one 10 lbs?

  • I want a sledghammer!

  • I am a genius!

  • Crazy triceps!! They look like tumours. . .

  • @TheOneBun dont u mean biceps? google is your friend

  • @yugyn2003 No, I mean triceps.

  • Damn dude, you've got balls doing it in that kind of inclose space. I'd definitely hit a wall!

  • it's a really good workout

  • this MMA freaks gone totally insane. Whats next? Kicking cops on the streets?

  • sounds awesome!

  • @revolutionfit Please don't get arrested, I actually enjoy your videos. LOL

  • @Vectornyi MMA ownes everything els...suk a duck

  • @Vectornyi sledge-hamer training start 100 years ago with boxing dude.

  • be one with the hammer...

  • who the fuck invented this were they like hey jim watch me his this tire with this hammer...

  • Basically...... Yes. Amazaing things can happen when you are bored AND you have testosterone.

  • What is the weight of the sledge hammer. In general is heavier better or lighter? or does the choice of weight depend on what goals you are trying to achieve (muscle gain, fat loose, conditioning, etc.)?

    Thanks

  • heavier is harder. Start out lighter, and master the form.

  • @revolutionfit can you work with regular truck tires instead of tractor/monster tires?

  • @revolutionfit definately a better and more useful exercise than sitting (or lieing) on a seat and pushing a weight. Too many people follow the body building routine these days (which is fine if you want to be a body builder - 99.9% don't). Hammer training will get you truly fit. You'll always get people that will knock it though - shame, they don't know what they are missing.

  • no one invented this, guys who have never lifted but have done manual labor for a living are strog from swinging hammers moving wheelbarrows and picking up heavy loads all day so some genius incorperated the obvious into a work out and sold the idea to dumb people

  • @athenamarie86 i think it came from chopping wood with an axe, and so there for they saw good results from it, and sooner or later they ran out of wood and decided to use a hammer and a tire lol

  • You're supossed to switch your stance when you switch your grip

  • I guess he stays the same becuz in a fight u dont switch stances

  • says who?

  • Im thinkin bout boxing lol

  • ummmmm thats not always true i do it to keep my opponent off balance

  • @Kenneth22790 but if your a MMA fighter, the stance should be the same IMO. Just to make it a more efficient fighter training, to train the way you fight.

  • @Kenneth22790 I stand square with both grips but yes if you're going to have one leg forward like he's got you should switch

  • looks like a killer move... -_-

  • Cool!! this looks like a great excersise! How heavy is this hammer I can only find them from 11 LBS, are there more heavy ones?

  • yes, absolutely I do this exercise with a 20lb

  • its not good to slide your hand, i just keep them both at the end

  • Just curious, why is it not good to slide your hand down?

  • its harder and works better

  • way to injure yourself

  • I find my sliding my hand down I generate more force against the tire.

  • i appreciate it ty

  • What muscles does this workout primarily build?

  • alot harder if you hold the handle at the end and let it swivel through your wrist-

    Vlad

  • good stuff thanks

  • When you switch arms and not stance, you get a different effect for right/left side.

  • Yeah, you should switch your stance as well. Right foot forward when swinging left side and vice versa for swinging right side. Otherwise you're not getting the same movement on each side.

  • very kewl bro.how many sets and reps or do you time it?
