  • The problem is the G spring is resting on top of your G string. Move it underneath the string and your pitch will hold true. I took the teflon tubing and slipped it over the spring to protect the guitar's finish. You may have to do the same thing with your B string,a s well. Don't rest the springs on top of the strings. Too much friction! Since I did this my guitar stays in pitch and tune. Hope this helps! Lemme know.

  • Useful vids - cheers. " If you put all your hip movement in there you're going to be the life of the party onstage" - Haha nice :)

  • Alex: I lubed the thing slippery than a bass at the end of a long day of no fish. I paid particular attention to the Teflon tubing running though the bridge. That was the one place I had never touched thinking it wouldn't be a hitching point. Well, it was and it seems to have fixed the issue. I still recommend winding the G down to the neck and roller string tensioners from Hip Shot.

  • @dtongay Hi, what exactly did you do with the teflon tubing to fix this problem? I'm having the same problem with my Hipshot B-Bender.

  • Hey there dtongay - sounds like it's stickin' somewhere, but where is the question! My G lever would stick as well until I put liquid graphite right in the hole where the string passes thru - heck, anywhere I could, heheh.

I also use Ernie Ball hybrid strings - that helped a great deal. Look for the orange pack.

    Hope that helps :)

  • Al...I installed my rig about two years ago based on your first video. It was that influential, bud! I have an '03 ash tele with a Warmouth neck and a teflon nut. My G gets hung up when I throw it and ends up sharp. I have to do a quick string bend to get it back in tune. Tried nut juice and winding the G string down to the neck on the tuner. Any ideas?

  • Hi there Sarzo The Great,

    Yes, I indeed did.

I filed the G palm lever in half and rounded the edges. At half its length, it's much easier to use while hybrid picking.

As for my hip lever, I'm using a 5 1/4 inch trailer hitch pin. The other lever arm would always fall out as I couldn't tighten the side nut tight enough. The new hitch pin always stays put because it's a nut and bolt. I also prefer the straight pin as opposed to the stock zig-zag arm.

    Al

  • did you modify your g bender arm? or the hipshot lever? they seem to look a little different from the hipshot ones i have.

  • looks like your tele has braces :S

  • great sound!

  • I have the original HipShot B-Bender and the D-Tuner. You have an excellent ability to explain and teach! Honestly, you're really very insightful at how you break down your main points and detailing the important things to know about bending. I learned more from you in just the few minutes here than I have elsewhere. I am sincerely grateful! Thank you!!

  • Great vid! Thanks so much! And props on the Tootsies shirt, I love it there, hit it up every time i'm in Nashville and enjoy $8 Jack and Cokes haha

  • Cool info!

    Thanks for posting this stuff!

I was on the fence about getting a bender tele, but now I'm planning on a hip-shot myself after watching your stuff.
