  • Both aare not only extra ordinary singer, they are also incredible good actors. Even without understanding the text, I could see from their mimik what they were communicating in their relationship in this duet. I'm touched!

  • Perfeito. Maravilha.

  • WOW! They are great together!! Fantastic!!

  • I can only say"Wow"What a great couple....(¸.•¨¯`*•●♥Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ♥...Thanks for posting.

  • Please tell me there are others out there who are just dying to see R and D give in to their obvious terrible PASSIONATE CHEMISTRY (MET's Eugene Onegin, this video and the video of La Ci Darem) and just make out?!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhh!

  • What?! Her voice type is perfect for his role! And she most definately does NOT have a small voice! That is just ridiculous...

  • Fleming is awful - it is not for her - voice too small for Il Trovatore.

    Not very good.

  • Wow, esto si que estubo muy bueno!!!!

  • looks like dima was getting his game on in the very end. haha fleming pushes him away

  • They sing with fire, exactly what Verdi wants here.

  • Wath is Guiseppe???...the name it's Giuseppe Verdi.....my God....

  • Brilliant!!!

  • THIS IS AS GOOD AT IT GETS. ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS.

  • I could SO see these two as Rhaegar and Lyanna.

Love this duet to no end, but i'm a shameless Luna/Leonora shipper.

  • Fabulous indeed and thank you Onegin65 for posting.

Any possibility you could post recording details?(Dvd details)

  • And that Russian palace! No less than the "Hermitage" ...

  • They are stunning together! The voices compliment each other perfectly! Bravi! And that Russian palace! Eccelente!

  • Marvellous !!!

    Thank you very much

  • I can't stop listening to 4:08 - 4:15

  • wow, bravo, fantástico!!!!

  • OPERA!

  • Renee sings very nicely, but her choice of gowns is all wrong. Why can't she wear something that isn't cut so poorly? A lot of her gowns are off the shoulder and have an

    over abundance of fabric.

  • @posyfab I think she looks very hot! But I wouldn't mind seeing her on stage with jeans on. Its about the MUSIC! ;)

  • Don't worry his wife is even more spectacular than all the sopranos put together. I once sat next to them at Covent Garden. He is very modest and coy too. When I congratulated him on his performance of di Luna which I had seen a few months earlier he actually blushed. She looked on feeling reallly pleased. Thery were both very nice.

  • Dmitri is hot hot hot!And the chemistry between these two!...(¸.•¨¯`*•●♥Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ♥...

  • the look he gives her at 4:39... !!! how can she not fall for him?!?

  • JE LES AIME AUSSI

  • -the sexualism in the scene is stronger than everything else

-Best "m avrai ma fredda esanime spoglia" after Maria's

  • He is dangerous!!!!!!

  • Certainly he is the sexiest baritone alive. He is a MAN, I am totally in love with him.

  • boy, aren't they on fire!

  • A rare treat indeed!

  • Both of them gorgious looking and just sounding amazing

  • BRAVO BRAVO, AMAZING SPLENDOROUS VOICES

  • Possibly a future part for Fleming? It seems to suit her perfectly...her voice is beautifully produced here...hopefully we'll hear her in Trovatore before her career is over!

  • WOW!!....THE SINGING...AND SPECIALLY THAT BOWTIE!

  • I think he has better chemistry with Sondra Radvanovsky, but that's just my opinion.

  • She dresses better every day!

  • but it is a nonsense to cast him as Luna.

Where would you find a sexy enough Manrico- and with singing abilities that bear comparison :-)) ?

  • @eurydike

Perhaps Herr Kaufmann as Manrico? The lucky lady who sings Leonora would be in heaven. Besides, what kind of stupid woman would have turned down di Luna?

  • @oscarnotwild

Kaufmann? even he can´t be compared hvorostovsky.

if Leonora refused this di Luna there would be no hope for her:-)) poor insane creature:-).

  • Even with the bosoms, this is great stuff.

  • Somehow much as I admire and adore Renee this dress is less than flattering and with Hvorostovsky appearing so sexy it is should have been a more flattering gown, IMHO

  • totally agree with you sillyboy! STUD indeed! sexiest man i've ever seen.

  • INCREDIBLE! This is the Renee we love!

  • What a weird place to start...why not from "Udiste...."?

  • I'm impressed, its pretty hard to make the role of Leonora interesting, but Fleming does well.

  • They do really sing it--Bravo!

  • STUPENDO

  • Amazing, amazing, amazing, Renee! Her singing is just perfect!

  • Wonderful ! Great Fleming performance and Hvorostovsky at his best (not always so). Thanks for posting. And of course Grazie Maestro Verdi.

  • Bravo

  • WOW!!! WONDERFUL! This is the couple of dreams for this duet physically and vocally!

  • from what i saw in this video i think renee has what it takes to sing leonora!...she just needs grooming and a more careful look into the role but vocally she could make one astounding leonora!!...i know she was looking into it a few years back !!

  • Renee looks very very very very very very very good ;)

  • She looks so fresh and young!

  • Is learning to spell Verdi's first name correctly so difficult?

  • amazing.... one day she will bring it to the met!

  • Face it - this IS top-notch.

    thrilling in fact

  • That dress is a wardrobe malfunction begging to happen! Only these Superstars could get away with such an over-the-top performance of this melodramatic scene. I love it!!!

  • Yes it`s you.

  • Is it me? She's all wrong for this- it's more like watching a drag queen miming!!~ if they had used Price's voice, or Milanov- any "dramatic soprano". Or- at least if her left tit popped out at the ending- instead of that shreik!

  • The singers that you mentioned are retired and had fabulous careers in which from time to time sang--good or bad--things that were inappropriate for their voices in order to appease a public that wanted to hear them. In Price's case(mind you Price is one of my favorite singers), the Prima donna albums which about 40% didn't fit her voice. Don't let me start with Ms. Zinka yikes. Fleming is most definitely not singing Leonora, she's simply singing a duet with her colleague on a recital tour.

  • @StuartLou Yeah... it's definitely you.

  • * * * * *

  • That's what I call operasinging! Great!

  • voro:el mejor conde despues de Zancannaro.

  • LOL, this program is passing in Portugal right now, in Mezzo.

  • If I want to see beautiful faces to sing something that is close to Italian opera then I would choose to buy this.

  • They sound and look excellent together!!

  • Thank you so much for posting this video, Onegin.

    Simply divine!

  • Merci!

Langweer.

  • Well matched physically and vocally. Onegin, as usual, thanks for this.

  • very nice.

Who is all this people in comments? :) :) :)

  • great singing...though I have to say that her dress is distracting. Maybe a little too low cut.

  • @Chilair1 you can't be serious...

  • Unfortunately true.

  • Renee is perfect as Leonora in this scene and her Maria Boccanegra is as great as it was 14 years ago. She's still in her vocal prime, at 51. She should definately take on the whole role, with no one other than Dmitri as her Conte di Luna.

  • I saw Renee here in LA a few weeks ago. Funny enough I asked her if she would ever sing Amelia again, and she said probably not. :-/

  • Why can't Renee sing like this all the time?! Great stuff.

  • Fleming was perhaps unjustly criticized for her "Tacea la notte placida... Di tale amor," sung at the Volpe Gala some years ago. The tempo was too slow, she fumbled the words, and seemed absorbed in her own voice. This, however, is another story. She is totally involved in the personagio, in the moment, and uses her glorious voice to full effect. Her "Mavrai, ma fredda esanime spoglia!" has the intensity reminiscenet of Ponselle and Callas. She is simply marvelous. Brava!

  • She's excellent in this, but he is the sexiest baritone alive, vocally and physically! What a STUD! Hvorostovsky, deeper, bigger, better than ever before! Pray for me.

  • @sillyboydeux Try Erwin Schrott as you're at it.

  • @sillyboydeux hm, but keenlyside is sexier:-))))

  • @sillyboydeux , you are right. He takes his sex with him wherever he goes to sing. I pray for you!;)

  • That was just SPLENDID! I know that Verdi is very good to Fleming (Desdemona) but this sounds to be perfect for her...just good old flat out old fashioned opera singing! Hope she takes the role on! (Dmitri ain't so bad, either!)

  • 5* and FAV!!! Interesting chemistry between these two wonderful artists :). Wonderful post Onegin Happy New Year! Very much looking forward to some excellent music from you agan this year! Thank you.
