I remember Harmon and Mickey Mantle and all the greats of that era. THOSE WERE REAL BASEBALL PLAYERS! These rats they have playing the game today are strictly in it for the money. You won't catch one of them saying what Harmon said here; "The reason why we're here is to love and help one another." Today's baseball player would say, "The reason why we're here is to make as much money as possible and screw the fans! Woo-hoo!"
Re his lifetime average; yes it's low. However, Boog Powell, Reggie Jackson, and more than a few quality pitchers from that era said the last person they wanted to see at the plate with the game on the line was Killebrew.
Harmon Killebrew is a true hero - He had an incredible career as a power hitter (573 HRs), and is one of the kindest guys you'd ever meet. He's someone every kid in America should learn from and look up to. I know I do.

His .256 Average his the lowest of any 1st Baseman in the Hall of Fame and any 500 Homerun member. His 573 Homeruns however, are 9th all time.

also he had a home run every 14.2(minimum of 400 at-bats) which is 6th all-time
