did u ever break 380 bro? i noticed that i had a huge plateu from 370 to 380 also. its been taking me like 3 monthes just to break it lol..i finally hit 380 today and almost 390. right arm wanted to work but left arm wanted to stay at 380 lol. just like u in the vid here. are you striving for the big 405 also?
negative on the 380...I was able to get 375 after repping 350 x 3 though. I just wanted to see if I could get 3 reps, it felt pretty good so I gave 375 a shot.
I know what you mean on the long plateu...I think it took me 2 months to go from 370 to 375...ha ha
I'm trying to get back into the heavy weight now - I've lost 10-15 lbs for bball and added cardio...405 is still on my mind for the long haul.
@redgrizzly60 well right now i did 370x6, 400x4, and 420x2 yesturday, and hopfully monday i can hit 375x6 410x4 and 430x2. thats what i been doing on bench in sets of 6-4-2 in the highschool weight room right now. and honestly i just gained a whole bunch of weight from lifting allllll the time and i mean alot of lifting and alot of protien eating. i suggest taking creatine, nitric oxide, and protein shakes if you can...and to get your bench up, get alot of sleep, eat alot of calories
@redgrizzly60 and you want to do alot of tricep training, and chest. do dips, weighted dips, seated dips, skull crusher, v shape tricep pushdown machine, rope tricep pushdown machine, close grip bench, lots of pushup, chest fly machines, and get your body SO USE TO THE BENCH that it is like second nature to do that kind of movement, it takes a while but it will work if u just lay on there and mess with 225 or lighter weight, and check your form and see if its right, that helps too :)
a weird balancing issue there lol...As a reward, that was pretty awesome. I also agree that the 380 would have been yours had you tried it first. Awesome lift
thanks bro, i'm taking the balance issue as a sign to lay off the heavy weight for awhile... I've never had that big of a problem in the past - must be old age...lol
Great job bro. Congrat's on hitting your PR again. You are going to break right threw that right away! 380 lbs was yours. If you would have done it instead of the 370 lbs you would have nailed it.
I don't know...I am still a bit sore from those 161 lb dumbells. I was going to try 390 lbs on Saturday, but my tri's and joints were still weak from the DB work and then I had my first basketball game that night. So, hopefully I can make an attempt at 390 lbs sometime this week.
I have a meet myself coming up on october 17-18, a full sanctioned meet with all three powerlifts, raw and geared, going to compete raw.
In two weeks I am hoping to max 360-380 on bench touch and go, then try to pause 340-360 in competition. Hoping to make the 220 weight class too, but it will be a big competition so I probably not even place, but its in good fun.
Yeah dumbbells might definitely help because it pretty much forces you to to push the weight up in each hand at the same time, when I did 200 for the first time at age 15, I remember I had the same problem you did, my right arm locked out before my left, but afterwards i threw in dumbbell work and my arms have been locking out at the same time usually now.
So what weight class did you compete at? 242 or did they let you compete as a 220?
Cool!

Yea the swords pretty cool, I'm not sure what I'll do with it though...aside from hide it from my daughter...lol
This was a non sanctioned meet with actually more weight classes - I was in the 216-234.
I'm thinking about competing in a USAPL meet on Halloween morning too, I would have to practice the pause though. Good luck with yours!

Slay some dragons or something lol j/k.
Yeah best of luck to you as well, hope to see 400+ from you in the future.

Thanks Mark, I think I'll try training with more dumbbells now, I've heard that can help even things out...
