I think that this is a very good example of Bassai. His stances were very good and one of the hardest things to do he ended where he started like you are supposed to.
"the stances were very good" Really i must have been watching something else!! the hip movement is poor the knee moves all the time in stance the feet are to wide a lot of the time theres no power in the moves the list goes on!!!
i agree with everything you have said, improvements need to be made to this kata, we dont want to put him down really, but if he is not told then he will not change, its good to watch yourself on video, I filmed myself doing this kata not so long ago, helped me a great deal to spot flaws i didnt even know were there, oss

Its funny how different forms of karate have variations of the same kata. My Shito-ryu discipline is quite different to what is displayed here...
