  • oh man they really nailed the music on this one, but is till love the 3do version of music

  • I love ambient music especially the darker stuff. If you want dark sounds like this, listen to bands like 'Kerovnian' This music has its own genre 'dark ambient'. The song called 'Let Yourself to Float.... to the Flute of Death' by Kerovnian is one of my favorite of the DARKEST ambient music you can find! Goes great while playing DOOM! 'Atrium Carceri' is another example of a 'dark ambient' band. LOVE DOOM BTW. You can play the PS version on PC. There is a WAD file for ZDOOM or similar.

  • Playing Doom on PSX as a kid made me terrified. All because of this music. The other ports were all too upbeat to be scary.

  • I think the PSX Doom is my favorite port of the game, just because of the music.

Sure, the original had great music, but this really builds a tense atmosphere that keeps you on edge.

  • @truearea53 I agree, it makes me get freaked out that when you spawn, i just scoot for the other side whilst being chased by a chain reaction of exploding barrels, scary stuff.

  • D: Oh god this is terrifying. The hilarious rock is what makes Doom so awesome for me!

  • tricks and traps best map or one of the best :)

  • this sucks compared to original doom.. yeah offense

  • @projectcolin no no fight fight fight till they fear you

  • i remember i had the psx version first, and eventually got the pc version a few years later. i fired it up thinking 'alright, time for some spooky horror blasting fun' and was greeted with horrible midi synth rock. This soundtrack > all other doom versions

  • @an1m4l yeah it happened to me too..

  • Track 16(Hell Gate) has the best soundtrack that organ music is really awesome.

  • no words can describe the awesomeness of this track. it really emphasises that you're all alone on another planet, millions of miles away from civilisation and that you'll receive no help from anyone. it's just you, your pistol and wits against the forces of hell.

  • @abdulqudz89 yeah, that's why it's so much better than the original doom music

  • best port of DOOM hands down.

  • im so thankful for zdoom and xwe so i can have the psx soundtrack on pc

  • whilst this track is certainly whole kindsa awesome, it's got nothing on the track titled "COMPUTER STATION" ( maybe crops up twice in the game? ). That is my favourite track of any computer game on any system :D. Tho this track is superb too. Oh! And one from FINAL DOOM, called CANYON ( maybe ? ) is full of gloom :)

  • @reelyshamcat

    That's because they're a feature of Track 18.

  • @BaronOfStuff nope, that's level 21. BTW, I think this music pwns the original doom music of the same level

  • @projectcolin

Or you could go around and give the inhabitants a few pellets in the head.

  • @BaronOfStuff Or incinerate them with a BFG with sound of barrels falling over, in this track of course :P

  • Alone at home... night... lights out... shutters closed... sound volume to max... grab your pistol marine! You have work to do...

  • It is heard in Hangar, Spawning Vats, Entryway, Barres of fun, and SubSpace in Final Doom. I love Barrels of fun i just don't like at the beginning of the level they replace the Mancubus with the Heavy Weapon Dude. The Mancubus did a better job destroying the barrels and raping your health before you could make it to the door at the end of the room, than the Heavy Weapon Dude.

  • honestly, i never played the PSX version of any DooM...

    just the standard PC version

  • I actually find this track to be very calming, though it does become kind of gloomy towards the end.

  • eerie, lonely, melancholy. perfect for doom.

  • Aubrey Hodges' work is a big part of what inspired me to get into sound-tracking.

  • Ooh *shudder* this brings back memories. For I remember the name of the stage that goes with this cool but horrifying music, its called Barrels of Fun... Its full of barrels of gas and you gotta be extra careful that you do not fire if your surrounded by barrels of gas. And the creepy sight is that the sky is bloody crimson and full of fleshy dead skulls.

  • @truearea53

No need for such a vivid description... I'm sure Barrels Of Fun is a map that has stuck with all Doomers.

  • @BaronOfStuff Oh god... Barrels of fun... I fucking sprinted through that map like i had a lightning bolt up my ass

  • @BaronOfStuff for me that was Map 2, Episode 4 from Ultimate Doom. what a chore.

  • @BaronOfStuff

    damn right

  • @BaronOfStuff Alice n chains them bones on the PC version :D

  • this would be a good song to have sex to.

  • @Tiamat583 Damn u gave me a good idea bro.

  • So eerie and cool sounding, brilliant 5/5

  • This brings back fantastic memories. Doom is a quality game, but the music really makes it even more sinister. Thanks for this and I'm going to dust off my PS1 copy and start playing again.

  • awesome track, aubrey hodges is a genius!
