Thank you SO MUCH. I knew it must have been one small thing I was missing, and it was. I was clicking "Draw AP Div" in the insert window instead of going to Insert->AP Div. Doh.
hi mate great video, but I have a question - I have already created my website using the draw AP div tag feature, how do I wrap them all into a new div tag wrapper oncer they are already there? can the method you show only be used from the start?
Thank you so much! Been searching for a well explained tutorial like this for some hours now.
This is really a Saver!
At first this didn't bring me exactly what i needed, but then i followed up you steps again and again. Then i played a little with the settings you made and then got the results i wanted.
THANKS!.. really, really THANK YOU! You explained just what I need to know and in a way to easy to understand even for a guy like me who don't speak english!
albeit, i couldnt find a way around working with what i had already made, so i ended up making it all from scratch, this worked like a gem! =) now my site looks a lot more professional and less ameteurish.. =) wohooo
You are a hero. Been struggling for days trying to make a website for my I.T course. I am experienced with photoshop and this makes it very similar to the layers concept. Awesome video man.
Hi Adam, Thank you so much for this incredible tutorial! It is so generous to share this amazing method that clearly took tremendous perseverance and insight to perfect.
Your photoshop layer analogy is spot on! I had just invested a lot of time learning how to take photoshop doc's into DW with limited joy. But using your method increases flexibility, creativity and fun and eliminates a host of issues.
The knowledge you have given here has rocketed my ability to create for the web. THANKU!
Oh, thank you, thank you! Every time I had to make a website in school I would always take forever to get the site to center properly. I'm doing a work placement now, and my employer asked me to make a site for one of his clients- predictably, I got stuck here again! I was starting to freak out a little, but you've saved me ^^
And i totally forgot to add, this also enables me to paste in my already designed web page (basic web page with slices made in photoshop) within the apdiv awesome stuff, your a life saver.
you have NO idea how much easier this has made ALL of my web design, for SO long ive been trying to figure out this exact thing to center apdivs to make life easier, while im learning how to code but in the meantime being able to produce websites the way I want them to look and not how they HAVE to look due to my limited coding knowledge.
You just click on the image and drave the black square in the corners in the image. You might want to resize the AP div box just so it fits approximately the size of your image also.
Actually, its a better idea to save your images int he size you want them to be on the website. When you add an image and resize it in dreamweaver, your website will load the original size image, and resize in the browser... taking longer to load. Its better to have all your images sized already before you start to create your page.
big help here! i was importing a file from photoshop with it all sliced up, but when I would insert text in the open designated area, i was getting all sorts of funk because of the window sizing.. now with this AP div method I didn't even think about, I've got the entire exported photoshop .html file placed inside the AP div and can now keep a proper ratio when doing things like text and image placing. you saved the day with this tutorial.
Thanks a ton for this tutorial. If I had a dime for everytime someone said you couldn't center a page that used AP Divs, I'd give it all to you and you'd be a rich man. I was always being told that "AP" means "AP" and you can't center it. Bravo!
omg ur a genius, thanks a million, im 16 and ive only just started experimenting with dreamweaver but now im going to make a website for my youtube channel because of this, thankyou sooo much
