ALL (let me make this clear) EVERY SINGLE ONE - ALL US soldiers are VOLUNTEERS. There is no draft. If you volunteer to be a soldier, then the "conscientious objector" becomes a moot point. A soldier is a fighting man - a killer in battle. No questions asked. You can not object to something you volunteered for!

I don't know a single German who feels occupied by US troops. Germans see them as friends, not as enemies. Of course there was controversy about Bushs war, but not only in Germany. In fact it was across Europe and the rest of the World.
If it's up to me, they can stay here forever. The post war relations between Germany and the USA are nothing but a wonderful story of success, and today our troops fight side by side in Afghanistan.

Like Iraq, he was found and procecuded... what are they still doing there??? Leave them be... what would happen if Iraqies invaded the US??? WWIII, cuz, hell no... noone come to the US, but the asshole politicians take their right and go where ever the hell they want.
@NicoleJ85VA if we leave there is a crazy chance that russians might feel compelled to move back into the eastern europe and germany and we are there to make that does not happen, and it is also a good place to launch troops into other countries, do you realize that

They had to stay there to stabilize the country. There is a kind of civil war going on already, then with insurgents and stuff they need troops to be there.
I understand that they have to stabelize and get them prepared. However, they first invaded in May 2003... now 7 years later they're still there?
Not everyone depends on the US. Just a crazy instance. What if Iraqies decide, hey we want barracks all over the US... oh hell no... the next step probably would be "more Terrorists" we have to kill them all.

Take a little advice. Find the nearest Medical Treatment Center and ask if they can give you a brain scan to see if they can fix your failed reasoning. Heather get a grip.
Ok that is just stupid to say that Germany can't be trusted. 68,000 troops is just to many troops to be stationed there. This is ridicules, we need to take our troops out of Germany. I hate people who are ignorant about saying Germany is not to be trusted and that they are nazis.

You know what...we have an all volunteer force. People know what they are signing up for and abandoning people that would die for you is a disgrace. It's not a soldiers job to make a "stand", it's a soldiers job to follow orders. They ask two things before you join the military: one of them is are you a conscientious-objector. Maybe he forgot he was an objector when he signed up.
One more thing...if this guy actually stepped foot in a combat environment with an unloaded weapon should we really trust his judgment? It's one thing if this guy wants to endanger himself, but carrying an unloaded weapon puts the life of his entire team at risk. A team that supposed to support each other. Let deserters hang.
All US soldiers swear first & foremost to uphold the Constitution, the Iraq war is criminal, ergo those who serve in it are accessories to a crime. Recruiters often tell kids they won't have a combat role to get them to sign up. The strongest opponents of the war are combat vets. War is hell.
stance against war? you do know when you go AWOL in any Modernday military your Betraying the men you serve with no matter how you look at it. most of the U.S bases are closing in germany cause there not really needed. but being moved down to the the Black sea area.
