  • yes it is

  • Indeed - St Magnus. Hymn # 447 in The Hymnal 1982. What glorious sounds!

  • Hymn "The Head that once was crowned with thorns" is the hymn written by Thomas Kelly(1769-1855) from words from Hebrews 2.10 The tune was written by Jeremiah Clarke(1673-1701) and as so rightly put before by others is called St Magnus....now any other arguments??? lol

  • The title is Christ is made the sure foundation.

  • I thought it was 'The head that once was crowned with thorns' do a search and see what you think

  • Now why is that? Two titles for the same hymn?

  • It is definitely 'The head that once was crowned with thorns' to the tune St. Magnus. The hymn 'Christ is made the sure foundation' is most commonly sung to the appropriate tune of 'Westminster Abbey'.

  • Ive never heard Christ is Made the Sure Foundation sung to this tune!

  • Good point. Neither have I.

  • Nor have I ever heard "Christ is Made the Sure Founfation" sung to this tune.

I am an Episcopal Priest, but I COULD be right in agreeing with you, --just this once-- in this matter in spite of that.

  • Wat geweldig! Ik hoorde het orgel met de Sung Eucharist, afgelopen zomervakantie in Londen. Ik vond het schitterend!

  • The camera was a little bit hidden, so they could not see that I shoot this video.

  • Very nice, although I'm surprised you managed to record this piece without one of the officious vergers/marshals telling you to stop.

  • Always a delight to hear this magnificent instrument. The music is the tune to the hymn 'The head that once was crowned with thorns' - (St. Magnus) composed by Jeremiah Clarke of Trumpet Voluntary fame.

  • Thank you, I did not know this composer but I recognize the (beautiful english style.

  • You know your Anglican Hymns !!!!!

  • This was filmed in the afternoon. So I filmed the wrong organ? (always the problem with organs), hmm... but still I love the sound and the atmosphere)

  • Looks like this clip was taken during evensong. The congregation normally are seated th eother side of the the Organ Screen known as the Quire. So unfortunately all u are hearing on this recording is the organist. The clip of course captures the sound of the Harrison Organ very well considering the instrument has over 105 stops !

  • Very lovely!

  • WOW,It sound beautiful.

  • this has to be super-impressive in person. Phenominal!!

  • Great organ!!!! Nice quality.....
