The sculptures I don't mind so much but the local residents need to be consulted on them first for their approval. As for the huge TV screens I agree . They are in every city so as to dumb us down. This is one reason why I visit the city centre less often and spend just two hours there each time apart from the thick density of mobile phone masts and wi-fi throughout the city centre. That's even worse than the traffic before pedestrianisation. Give me juke boxes over TV screens in pubs.

They are good for giving directions since most people don't have street plans or take notice of street names. On the other hand the local people should be allowed to vote on pieces of public art. In front of Cardiff Central Library is a javeline and hoop which was chosen by local people out of a choice of three.

Noone does anything these things, people just accept it & write it off as a new kind of art.Art should never lose its connection to beauty & this art aint beautiful, who are they kidding?.Noones bothered to question anything, if it dont affect their lives in a serious way they're not interested.This, together with the absurdly increase in CCTV is getting beyond a joke; in places where there is almost a camera around every corner it should convince people theyre not there for crime prevention.

Coventry, the historic 'City of Three Spires', was razed by the Luftwaffe in 1940.

It was similarly rebuilt in a post-modern/Bauhaus/Machines for living style with a lack of aesthetic. Post war reconstruction replaces golden sections, buttresses and classical and romantic stylising with boring blocks or, at best, subversive geometry e.g. non-euclidian.
