  • get a twin reverb fender, use clean channel along with chorus, delay and such..And mix and match till you find the right sound.

  • Detune I mean

  • Seems like he used a POg to get that 12 string effect in his BBC special. You definitely nailed the retune on the chorus. Well done!

  • very good sound

  • What language is this man speaking?

  • @braddyboy82

    English you fucking American retard.

  • @ExadusX

    You're a sweetheart. :)

  • @braddyboy82

    I know. Wanna make out?

  • are you Bobby Gillespie, you sound exactly like him and not just because you're scottish

  • johnny marr used a boss ce-2 back in the day, a boss ce-5 gets pretty much the same sounds, and is same price as a ch-1 second hand. i personally prefer the ce-5 to ch-1, but thats just a personal preference and food for thought.

  • I like your crouch, nice video though :)

  • Have you ever played a peavey stereo chorus 212? I was curious how the two amps compared (400 and 212). I've owned the 212 and imo it has one of the best cleans of any amp i've ever played, tube or not. Thanks.

  • tbh iv never played a 212, i think they'd basically sound the same, the lead channel on the 400 is good but i dont have a footswitch to change channels so i just use the clean channel and use my daphon for my drive, yeah my 400 has the best clean sound i have had through an amp, very loud and has a lot of bite, these amps give u more of a powerfull boosted clean, instead of fenders which i find to be a bit too think, and marshalls which i find to be not clear enough

  • did johnny use a compressor? and what do you think about an ibanez analog chorus? you sound great.

  • Ye i def think johnny used compression, live i dont know but in the studio i would really think so, i think most chorus's will give u the smiths tone, im not too familiour with analogue chorus's, im used to digital chorus's but if its a good chorus it shud do the job

  • peavey reverb is great, I have an old Peavey Express, the distortion is horrible late 80's heavy metal, but that clean channel is a good proxy for that marr sound. But I do need a chorus and delay pedal! How much were those?

  • ye chorus is quite a big part of the early smiths sound, delay is not really neccisary just an added effect to make it sound a bit closer to the studio sound, my boss CH-1 was from ebay, think it was 35 or 40 quid i payed, my analogue delay was 35 out of cash converters i think, but u can get any delay to do the job, i think most chorus's ar good, i think for 30-50 quid u can find urself a really good chorus that'll do the job and much more

  • Thanks for the tips, I'll try and get a CH-1 from ebay!

  • Damn, it's a shame I don't speak Glaswegian :(

  • im not glaswegian, im dundonian, im actually quite insulted :P

  • Haha, I was kidding it's a really useful video. Thanks for the upload!

  • hye man what kind of tuning did you use for the johnny marr sound. some say he used nashvile tuning . and umm did you just use the chorus or the fender twin reverb ?

  • he only used nashville tuning on a few tracks, n he only used that tuning with an old epiphone, i cant mind which kind, its mostly all standard tuning but tuned a step higher, so if u wer in standard u would play everything on a capo 2nd fret, i just used the chorus from the boss, and the reverb came from the peavey

  • this is really good. thank you!!

  • good stuff mate, you fae dundee ?

  • fascinating
