2 In that time it oscillates up/down aprox 2.7 times
3 This means that the Solar System passes through the Galactic Plane around each 40-46 Million Years
4 We are currently 16-98 Light Years away from the plane and are moving at about 220 kps. That means we have between 13,000 and 83,000 years to go.
AND, recent research shows that Global Mass Extinctions DO NOT match passages through the Galactic Plane.

As for the Dark Rifts, it's not surprising that the Mayans have records of it. It's pretty damned hard to miss when it is a huge collection of non-luminous molecular dust cloud that is b/w our solar system and the Sagittarius arm and stretches all the way from Cygnus constellation through Aquila and all the way to Ophiuchus until it finally broaden out into Sagittarius, effectively obscuring the center of the galaxy.

To say that life can come from non-living matter flies in the face of known scientific facts. Either way, your beliefs are rely on some faith. Elements of this video are likely true, like the presence of a super massive black hole at the center of each galaxy that spins so fast that the gravitational field is slung out into a disc shape by centrifugal force. The arms that are visible in other galaxies and thus likely our own are evidence for this, and the disc shaped nature of both galaxies and solar systems. BUT... we have no idea and no way to measure how close we are to this plane or the effect it will have when we pass it, if any

Just one of Many counter-points on this video -- Earth's magnetic pole shifts are Not cyclical in ANY sense of the word, they are completely unpredictable. The last pole shift happened over 730,000 years ago (also 870,000 and 950,000 years ago).
I don't think that I have to stress the point too much, but the reference to the bible further shows how irrationally unscientific that this video really is. I'm just surprised that it didn't mention the "12th Planet!". . .

He's not talking about magnetic shifts, he's talking about physical, geographical shifts. Hapgood studied the magnetic particals in rocks and determined that there have been multiple shifts over the course of tens of thousands of years. The north pole was once in Siberia, Hudson Bay, and Alaska, to name a few. There have been no "ice ages", but simply a changing Arctic and Antarctic circle, which causes the boundaries of glaciers to change. North Africa was once lush and green until a shift.
