  • Faved this video cuz it was uploaded on my 20th birthday, which was 25 days after my first daughter was born. Just a question, i have a 93 2.2 cavalier. i want to swap my frnt coil overs with z24 ones, low pro tires and do an intake as well as a turbo. aside from the suspension, how much do you think i'd be looking at throwing into this for at least 13-14s. my brother in law will help me tune it. he thinks 7-8psi boost is sufficent.

  • hey my friend, go It's amazing what you done to your z24, well I would like to know everything that you done to your engine and in general

  • i have a Chevrolet cavalier z24 1990 with only 63,000 miles on it, any suggestions what to do it

  • sweet setup, I should have kept my z24

  • IMHO, This is how the Cavalier should have been built in the first place. It would give the FWD import market a definite run for their money. Go beat on some Civics for me!

Great job taking something and building it the way it SHOULD have been!

  • wow I'll trade u my 2005 cavalier ls sport for it..

  • @elmermt This made me LOL

  • how did u get a turbo manifold for the 3.4? i have the 3.4 DOHC and am looking to turbo it but cant find a manifold, any help?

  • crzzymnn911 your up shit creek if you want to buy a set of turbo manifolds. Nobody makes them for a LQ1 actually only 1 company makes N/A headers and they will only make a group buy no more single sets. Some shops can make you a set of turbo headers but you will pay for them. What alot of guys with LQ1's do is use 2 front manifolds for a turbo setup try looking into that

  • If you dont mind, what turbo are you using to put up those numbers?

  • awd cars are slow from a roll everyone knows that... from a stop its a different story. Im not taking any credit from your work, cus u obviously did a good job.. Props on all the custom fab you did especially the turbo mani.

  • jewtube removed the music....lmao.

  • whats the trany??

  • getrag 282, team green lsd installed

  • How did you go about putting a monster tach in your car i got a beretta with a 3100 if thats helps any?

But how much did the turbo kit cost you?

  • the turbo kit cost around 1500. for the tach, theres a solid white wire on the ignition control module. thats the tach signal. tap into that

  • lumunaltz you faggot its called weight reduction if that makes you happy cavalier z24 are the shit

  • Awesome!

  • i envy this car. now i dont mean to put down the cars that cost hundreds of thousands. but thats all u need rite there. kids and there honda's better watch out.

  • take the stupid music/noise off so we can clearly hear the engine

  • very nice car man, hope to find a nice cav like dat, how much were all da custom pipes (turbo wise)?

  • cant stop watching this vid i drul cuz i want my cavey to be like that

  • nice car, nice setup, love my 3800, and no they sound great specially compared to that, and 14's, seriously, lmao, dont u have 350 ish horse, cant hate the car, it is what it is, but a 3.8 is sooo much betterrr

  • if u would have noticed it said a few n/a videos. boosted 6psi i ran 12.2. name a 3800 that can do that..

  • There are a lot of 3800s with good results... however you can't compare a turbo 3400 CAVALIER running 6psi to a w-body car with a 3800... w-body cars are much heavier. Dyno numbers is where you want to compare them, not what they run in the 1/4 mile at 6 psi

  • who cares. wbody's suck ass. 3800's suck ass compared to 3400's. and before you call me out, i used to have a z24 too, i'm not some moron who doesn't know what he's talking about. I went and bought an rx7 anyways, got a real car :P but i would love to get another z and build it like this one, no 3800 bullshit

  • 3800s can handle 700 hp on stock internals, name a 3400 that does that...

  • not sure if anybody has done there homework but 3400's are 150lbs lighter, make the same horsepower as 3800's, and the heads/intakes flow so much better stock than ported 3800 units. i did my homework. besides, my stroked/bored 3400/3500 hybrid this year will make 650 whp. 650 whp in a 2300lb car is sick nasty, i dont care what car its in. besides how many of these older Z's do u see on the road that are actually FAST? i could count them on my hands.

  • and that is sweet. I was mearly pointing out to dirksz24 that imo both are great motors. I also agree that the 3800 heads are stuffy and flow shitty but that didnt stop zzp from getting into the 8s soo you cant really say the 3800 is shit...

  • Hey man. You're car was the only reason I use to visit v6z24 regularly. I stopped going when I saw you we're no longer an active member. I'm assuming it's because of the BS with sixshooter...that asshole lol. I guess he didn't notice that you had the best car on that whole site and i'm not doubting the site lost A LOT of popularity due to your absence. But anyway hows the car goin? Havn't caught any word about it recently.

  • thanks man, ive been around v6 but i just havent posting there cuz of some shit.

  • My non S/C L36 3800 is sittin at 9.5:1 can't wait to build it up. What are your thoughts for it, being it is a higher CR than the S/C L67.

  • I forgot to ask - what ETs are you getting out of that bad boy?

  • ps long live the greddy type s

  • terrificly done. awesome sleeper. One question I have is wouldn't it have been a bit easier to do it with a 3800 instead?

  • 3800 is a heavy all iron engine. the 3400 is a lighter and much more efficient engine, and responds much better to boost than a 3800. plus 3800s just sound like shit..

  • Not to be disagreeable cause your car is sweet but the 3800 and the 3400 are made of the same stuff - iron block / alu heads. and theres no way it responds better to boost than a 8.5:1 3800. The 3400 and 3800 sound very similar. I can't think of any way the 3400 is more efficient but in any case, yours is more powerful than most 3800s on the road regardless and I give you mad kudos

  • well, considering the 3400 with 9.5:1 with boost is alot more peppy lol. the heads flow so much better, plus 3800s are all iron, no aluminum heads. 3800's are externally balanced, 90 degree v6, which isnt very smooth at all.. i made 358 on 9psi with headwork, a 3800 supercharged makes 260 on 10 10lbs or so.. 3400 was a better choice in my opinion

  • You're right about the iron heads. I don't know where my mind was at there. 358 with a high natural compression and a turbine is way different than low compression and a roots blower. There is no comparison. If you turbo the 3800 and do the same kind of head work, you'll be doing well beyond 400 without high compression on the same boost plus you can actually run over 10psi without blowin stuff after a while. What else do you have done to the motor / trans? Did you program it yourself? JC

  • stock bottom end, stock trans.

  • Bahahaha love how you walked that Evo, WITHOUT a turbo.

  • DAM....I just have one thing to say: INSANE! thats a sick Z24 man congratz...thats the dream I want for my 90 Z24

  • I like all the busted parts. That's the one thing I dont like about cavaliers. They were built as econo cars, and so some of the parts are just not built to take your kind of HP. But fuckin awesome car, all the same

  • I know some one with a 01 cavalier with a 3400 turbo. 300 hp, and 415 ft/lbs of torque. Megasquirt, 5 speed. Insanely fast. No traction with street slicks on the track until half way through 4th gear. On the street its even worse.

  • hey man i have a z24 1990 3.1L auto are the manulle any quicker

  • are you some kind of sick fucking evil genius??? i have a soft spot for the engines from 2.8 all the way up to 3.9 or whatever they are now.. did you have problems with the intakes gasket? so you have a breakdown of what you used

  • the solved the intake gasket problems. the only real problem was the dexcool coolant. what info do u want? motor?

  • man that car is fuckin nasty!!!.... where your headers custom made?? i had a 88,90 z24 and the motors was crap (2.8)

  • everything built was custom by myself. the older motors weren't crap, they had shitty heads and intakes.

  • yeah my first 1 had a cracked head and the second one threw a rod but i still love em. the car that is not the motors.

  • i got the 03 grand am with this engine were you get the turbo?? very nice car man best cavi i've seen in my life

  • sick ass shit bro. i used to have an 89 Z, i miss that car like crazy, crashed it and had a 98 Cav for a while, now i'm rolling in a 1990 RX7, mildy modified... i still wanna go back to the Z someday and cars like this are my inspiration... although i'm planning to run a rmt setup more like 89jyturbo's...

  • thanks guys, ive only got about 3500 into it INCLUDING the car lol. its a blast to drive. but i recently sold that turbo kit and the engine is out going full forged running 20+ psi...

  • Veary nice man i have a 1990 Z24 Cavalier i would love to get it just like yours is now like i siad veary nice keep up the good work man peace

  • sick as shit.....how much u got into it??

  • Very nice! I`m thinking of doing the 3400 Turbo swap to my 92 Beretta GTZ Quad 4. Is your Cavalier manual or automatic? I`d really love to go manual but I doubt that the Getrag tranny in my Beretta will be capable of managing so much torque.

  • dude like i said i got a fully restored 1990 now that i saw this video im going to build a monster like this.

  • Excellent project, "suckers eater", congratulations...

  • Damn thats a nice second gen.. I'd like to know where you got those gauges, hehe. My old second gen is still on V6Z24. Just look up "SpyDeR"...

  • Yeah that's my boy's z!!!! You see it, stay away....he'll blow your doors!!!!! The meanest cavy I have ever seen in my life!!!! Good job midnight!!!!!

  • yeah, my name is midnightriderz24. it was all motor with the 3500 plenum and 70mm tb. i got rid of it though and went back to the 3400 plenum.

  • Sup man, I use to be a v6z24 member but I got banned from there by Sixshooter for some ungodly reason I don't even remember. But yea I still go to the site all the time to check the progress on your car. Gotta say thats the coolest Cavalier ever modded. Keep up the good work man. Hope to see some more vids of it, Possibly some vids at the track this year? Later

  • im in v6z24 too my name is jakeman i havnt did much to the car ye but i have big plans lookin for either a 3800 or a 3400 gettin it painted soon could be good

  • nice vid dude, u must be a v6z24 member... =D

i have a '88 beretta that i swapped out the 2.8 for the 3400, looking for another 3.4 though. i had the same axle problem as you shit sux. so upgrading to the 3500 UIM did you notice too much difference? and did you go with the bigger T/B with that as well? hut me up sometime...nice job
