  • I believe I heard that season 2 was to start in 2009, what happened?

  • It started with the first Denshimail (the one right before this one). But I know people want to see regular episodes. We released a special, and the next episode is coming up soon!

  • f1 race was my first famicom game

  • So you can just put the disk in, switch the sides, and then just take it out entirely and play normally?

    Pretty neat.

  • Just for the record, the batteries would usually last about five months on the Famicom Disk System. A whole lot longer than two hours.

  • Wow, that's 3600 hours! TAKE THAT, iPhone!

    Thanks for the tip.

  • @SeanOrange Have mine running since three years with the same batteries (no leakage yet).

  • And one more thing...

If this was filmed in Wisconsin....

How is Rising Stuff in Japan? Is Vinnk in Japan or something?

  • Part is filmed where I am, part is filmed where Vinnk is. YouTube only lets me put in one location. That;s about it!

You might have found this video through Rising stuff, but it's not made FOR Rising Stuff. Famicom Dojo originated as a joint Powet TV and 4 Color Rebellion production.

  • Was that a black disk system that Vinnk was using? Or was it just the lighting in his room...?

  • Just the lighting.

  • Now that I own a Famicom...I've been thinking about picking up the disk system....ahhhh...game collecting never ends..

  • Any Famicom is incomplete without a game system.

  • Can I use european batteries?

  • Yes. Battery voltages should be consistent from country to country. It's just the public power system that gets wonky.

  • Super Famicom Dojo , sounds good .

  • You guys rule, keep up the good work, look forward to the next episode

  • I don't believe that it is a very good idea to insert and eject disks to the famicom for two hours repeatedly. Did you forget that the machine has sensitive drive belts that break easily?

  • Hahaha, good point, but some sacrifices must be made for SCIENCE.

  • Another good episode by you guys. Even though it needs an extra plug, I still just prefer having the piece of mind of an AC adapter and not needing to switch out 6 D batteries every so often.

  • 6 C batteries

  • Oh, burn sauce!

The thing that we don't say outright is that the system can last pretty long using batteries because it just doesn't read or write all that often. But then, why six batteries? I don't know.

  • a question for the mailbag:

are there any other ways to play famicom games on an NES besides buying a pin converter? if so what?

  • I'll add it to the list! We've had that one a few times, so we'll see what we can find out.

  • I could answer that if you like :)

Unfortunately, no there isn't. The only way to play a Famicom game is with a pin converter. You cannot fit a NES cart into a Famicom, and a Famicom cart won't go into a NES, because the NES's pin connector would block the Famicom cart from going in. Sorry :(

  • ok. thanks

  • YAY!

  • Great Video man!!!

  • Man, I didn't know it used batteries, but I guess that makes sense. It's a good thing we have powerstrips these days..

  • Lmao I know who Bibleteen is...

  • When does the next episode of Famicom Dojo come out?

  • We keep getting this question, so it looks like we should answer it on Denshimail!

  • I said it before, I'll say it again; you guys are great. Another great video for Super Famicom Dojo! Did you really make vinnk do all that work or did you just have him look up the info? That would be one hell of a boring test!

  • Sure. We even let him switch arms once in a while.
