@VulcanNut90 I bent up four aluminum U shaped brackets that bolt to threaded bosses on the back side of the I/C end tanks and the other end of the bracket bolts to the radiator side flanges. The radiator is mounted on rubber bobbins that isolate it and the I/C from the chassis.
The SV is a larger version of the Series 3 Lotus 7 and Caterham Super 7. The SV is 4" wider and 3" longer in the cockpit. This makes for a bigger footwell to accommodate my size 12 EEE feet.
@magnum9987 Should be no problem, the SV model has a 4" wider and 3" longer cockpit than the standard 7. I've had passengers taller than 6' with no complaints. I'm 5' 8" and I have to slide the seat about 4" - 5" forward to be comfortable on the pedals.
Thank you, but it really is a sweetheart of a car to drive, that is, right up until you bring the boost up, then you better be pointed straight down the road and one hand on the shifter. 4.45 lb/hp makes for a thrilling experience.
@turotufas The timing was set by guess and was a little off. There was also a small vacuum leak. Both of these contributed to a high idle. Both were immediately corrected and it is set to idle at 1,250 rpm.
you should get carbon fiber wheel fenders. i tried showing my father one of these to buy, but he refused because he wants a countach or diablo replica. his speed days are over, 911 turbo, corvettes, etc. nice car though id buy one :D
beautiful machine! im turbo'in my miata next month will put vid clips up of it. then in a few months time after that im gonna be twin turboing my 1991 legend coupe!
The intercooler is from Track Dog Racing. They make a kit for the Miata that has very similar piping that fits a Miata. They have it for both supercharged and turbocharged Miatas.
The Link is designed for the Miata. I had to completely rewire it for the Caterham. I spent about 80 hours stripping a Miata harness, removing what I didn't need, shortening the harness and then wiring it into the Caterham chassis and integrating it with the Caterham harness.
Pre-start initial timing was set by guess and there was an open port on the intake manifold. Both have been corrected and idle is now normal. I was just damn happy to have it start on the first attempt considering I had spent about 70 hours wiring in an ECU never meant to be in this car.
that is sick!! well done

@scannon92 it better to have 285 sae hp than 301 at full boost whit the risk of blowing up the gasket!

like how its the first start up and not even 5min into the break in period theyre reving it up lol...
joshcassella 2 years ago
The engine had 18k miles on it, revving it wasn't going to do any damage once I had confirmed the oil pressure was up to normal.
scannon92 2 years ago
that's good,a little deceiving with the title lol.

let me guess.. your the person that gets a brand new engine and idles it for an hr or so to glaze up the rings right??!!

Not really kid.All of my engines are tuned and broken in on the Dyno before they even see a chassis.I'm not a rookie here, try again.

Hell I'd be that excited too if I had an engine start up like that first try. Damn sexy car too. :D

that engine it looks amazing but was it idling too high? cool sound from the muffler!
DECIMATOR76 4 years ago
It had a small vacuum leak and the initial timing, set by guess, was off a bit. Once those were fixed, it idled normally.

Cool, Which ECU are you using?
MegaScott 4 years ago
It is a Link ECU from Flyin Miata. They have developed the Link software to the max.
scannon92 4 years ago
What do you mean by the ECU was never mean't to be in this car?
A buddy of mine has developed a PNP ECU for Mazda Miata, See DIYAutotune. com, if you ever want to switch.
