  • I love how she sat there, letting her daughter cry over her father. I know she did it just so she could see how her father really was, but, damn. That would have to be the hardest thing in the world - to see your daughter try to leave you, and then cry when she couldn't... <3

  • Some parents are so fucking selfish it makes me fume! They marry and have kids because they feel like they want to settle down at the moment and then when they get bored with that they think they can just walk out and start something completely new and there should be nothing wrong with that. When you bring a life into this world it stops being about YOU! Bernice's dad is still a little boy, NOT a man. A man would not run out on his responsibilities.

  • I was glad when the dad asked Birdie to help him out and she didn't. He needed to see what he caused by being so selfish and walking out on his family. It was also good because Bernice needed to see the truth because she kept blaming Birdie. I just saw this movie for the first time (I'm late I know) on Netflix and I cried like a baby.

  • this part always makes me cry she was so excited to be with her dad and he just drove off and turned his back on her like she didnt even exsist

  • beautiful. just beautiful. this movie always makes me cry...this happened to me as a child, and i know how bernese feels...

  • That is one of my favorite movies and my favorite part! I also love how after this scene, when they are in bed together, the mother tells her daughter to please never try to leave her again. She needs her. I tell my daughter that all the time. I used to think I was special, but I am not. I'm just a regular person. She is what makes me special. She is the best part about me. The best thing I EVER did! And that is the truth!

  • I cry every time....both my daughters weren't good enough for their fathers' life.

  • You cant make someone love you when they DONT!!!!! No matter if you waited a lifetme for them!!!!!!!

  • mae whitman is amazing :)

  • now that I'm older, I understand what happened. Birdee let her own daughter get emotionally pushed away from her father as he is trying to tell her to go home, you can't go with me, I need to be with Connie. it's messed up in a way cause she could have told Bernice to go back inside but no. she'd rather let her see her father for who he really is.

  • exelen y ademas triste muy buena actuacion de la niña ,sandra esta linda. with love wess.

  • that little girl should have gotten an oscar for her preformance in this movie. No matter how many times I've watched this I cry everytime

  • Birdie couldn't have handled it better: she kept her eye on her daughter but didn't intervene. If she had, the little girl would have blamed her for her dad walking away from her. An amazing little actress, wonder why we don't see more of her.

  • @annabelle2ful That little girl has grown into a great actress. She's currently playing a role on the tv show on NBC called "Parenthood". Check it out - great show!

  • Most of the time at least ... Mom's are always there for u. That Dad is a dick.....and my lord that little girl had some talent!! Did u see how hard she was crying!! DAAMMNN!!! y was she not given an oscar??

  • This song is the ending to Vanilla Sky, not Hope Floats..

  • @TheMeriale

nobody said it was from Hope Floats!

  • @alita031 Sorry, I must have gotten the wrong impression.. My bad..

  • One of the best movies ever made!

  • only the best thing ever !!!! so sad reminds me of me and my dad =(

  • I have to admit that I lived this movie although I was a 8 year old boy at the time in place of Berniece. My dad found another girl to be with which caused my mom deep sarrow, like berniece I tried to blame that on my mother because I was afraid to see the truth & I learned the hard way that this scene is a brutal reality that has replayed in my head for years and years at a time I'm 17 now and Ive come to terms with my fathers actions HAPPY MOTHERS Day, HOPE FLOATS & I realize that Now :)

  • this part makes me cry so much such raw emotion ! thankyou for uploading it :)

  • I was the little girl at one point watching my parents go through divorce. Our momma's r so strong. A man can just pick up an leave, and our moms r always there. I was always a daddy's girl, but I realize my mom is my best friend. Thanks for that reminder!

  • Love this movie and love this scene. I could've written that dialogue myself. Birdie says what many of us have wanted to say about our failed marriages. . .and she did it with class.

  • I can watch this movie 1000 times; this part ALWAYS makes me cry! :-(

  • this was my fav scene by far

  • i lived not only this scene, but this movie! One of my all time fav movies. The line- "i got the best part of you" I used in my farewell letter to my ex husband 11 years ago. It still rings true today. He was a cheating douchebag just like this character. And it took a long time for our daughter to see that. I tried to shelter her for too long from that fact. BTW I found my own Justin Matice and married him! Being happy is the best revenge!

  • had me a lil misty eyed. i love how they let the mom sit and do nothin, other movies have da mamas tryna grab dey kids to come in the house. it makes things worse. so i like how they did that, that was smart. love the upload

  • yep tears here , poor little thing

  • i love this thank you for uploading it =]

  • That made me cry thinking about what happend to me

  • we all have cried like that.....and wished our moms were there to pick us up just like that.

  • That happened with me & my sperm donor.

  • If you like Mae Whitman (the little girl) you should chk the new show Parenthood

  • Sigur Ros

    "The nothing song"

  • That little girl is such an amazing actor!

  • Thanks so much for the 9,000+ views <3333

  • We all know when we are at fault irregardless of where it all happens or where it is discovered.

  • Is there a more heart-wrenching movie scene than this one? Well, yeah, from this same movie. Like where she's dancing with her father in the nursing home? Like where she's cleaning out her mother's closet and smells her mother's scent on her dresses?

I'm a guy and though this is a chick-flick it's one of my favorite movies of all time. Great music, too. The soundtrack CD is a keeper.

  • @coolram52 I know the feeling of smelling the clothes. That is the most unexplainable feeling in the world to have just lost your mom then go to clean out her closet or chest and smell the cologne she wore (mine was Este Lauder) It is an emptying feeling yet fulfilling.

  • I don't know who cried more: Mae Whitman in this movie or Halle Berry in Monster's Ball. here's a little fun fact: that girl was also the voice of Katara in the cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender (not the M. Night Shyamalan adaptation)

  • Dad is a deadbeat! Now that I'm older, I actually understood that scene. Dad didn't want anything to do with his family

  • Absolutely LOVE this movie...one of my favorites!!

  • Aww, Mae was sooo adorable. You can watch her on NBC's Parenthood. She's all grown up now, but she cries exactly the same. Season 2 begins in September. :)

  • that little girl is such a great actress.!

    she mad me cry buckets.!!!

  • also whats the song name thats playing.??

  • @HMClark1227 read the description box please!!!

    =D

  • @alita031 i did but it doesnt say what the NAME of the song iss.!

sry i dont mean to sound annoying im just cerious.! i like the song...and video :)

  • I would walk throw fire befor I let them feel they were nothing.... I'm not a quiter i care about my family! I cried @ this part Koz it's really hard when u r doing ur best 4 ur family and the ur partner not caring!!!

  • This was a great video and I loved the song. What's the name of it?

  • mae is such a fantastic little actress it's unbelievable

  • i think that they picked great actors and yeah i do agree with yall that was the only way for that poor child to learn who her daddy really was it was so sad that i kinda feel srry for the woman and the little girl. IT was a reat movie.

  • Very touching part of the movie. Instead of trying to defend her daughter, she lets the daughter see who her father really is. Even though it pains her to watch, she knows it is the only way the daughter will learn.

  • @oscarxp25 yes that was a hard scene to look at because you felt the pain from the daughter.

  • @oscarxp25 yes that's exactly what it is!

  • @oscarxp25 Truth and Consequences. Which is the name of a town in New Mexico and that's why the aliens came to Roswell, New Mexico. For truth and consequences. Youtube gives us the truth in the Roswell alien autopsies and then we understand the consequences in the movie Independence Day.

  • @oscarxp25 i finally got that after watching about 100 x.

  • @oscarxp25

    Exactly!

  • @oscarxp25 I reached a point where I had to allow my sons to see what there father did and was on their own, it killed me to see them hurting, but I knew as long as I kept sending b-day presents and Christmas presents to them from him, I wasn't helping them. It is difficult to stand back and let your children see what the world is really about, but sheltering them from a very big reality in their lives would have been the bigger cruelty.I loved them too much to continue with a lie

  • Oh Gosh, this is so sad! :(

  • Ok now, you've made me cry ......

    AMAZING VID!!!

  • @veselinovat thanks i'm glad you like it~and sorry for making you cry

  • wow.. you made me want to watch this movie again.. sad moment great job

  • God this is painfull to watch!! poor girl!

  • oh it's so sad :( thanks for entering! :)
