Why do people hate the scooped mids so much? it sounds so oversatured..in a good way. Thrashy, aggressive, makes your brains go out the back of your head.
@KissMeImPunk you wont be heard in a band situation. you have a lot of bass, that gets drowned in the bass guitar. you have a lot of treble, that gets drowned inthe cymbals. mid is the only frequence that isnt occupied by the other instruments. if you scoop it and wanna be heard, you have to turn it up loud as fuck and drown the others that way.
@givemeajackson Isn't that the point fo alot of the heavy metal shows in the small clubs, how the guitar is set up to pretty much have top priority? Think about it this way, it's the first thing people wanna hear most of the time. You hear give or take the same quality with some bands from their records to their mid live shows.
@KissMeImPunk the guitar should be clearly audible, but not by turning up volume! it would get muddy. you wanna cut trough the mix? then why do you try to cut trough the thickest part of it? in the mids you have no concurrence.
AAAAARHG! I want to buy a Fireball, but don't know which one to pick. I know the 100w version has some extra features, but the only one I'm interested in is the midboost function. Could someone help me? I am only interested in differences in sound, and whether the 60w sounds like the 100w with the midboost OFF or ON. Does anybody know if I can tweak to the same sound as the midboost in the ON positiion with the 60w? thank you very much for replying.
@ogardsveien dude, if there is anychance you can get the 100, DO IT. you can get the scooped sound here from the 100 no worries., just turn the mid boost off!
@gtjumper Ok. I actually got a music store to order it so i could try it, and I did. I'm not really into the scooped sound, it's quite opposite. I was just wondering if i could get the huge mid sound on the 60w that u get with the 100w and midboost ON.

Sorry about the late reply, It did nor come up on my home page. Yes they are the stock tubes, although i have moved to tung sol 12ax7 and run less gain and it seems to be much punchier and less fizzy while still retaining balls!

Dude, those arpeggios at the end sounded LIQUID! Awesome. Dude, were you using the ENGL Standard (V60s) or Pro (V30s) cab.

there are 3 quad boxes i use on a regular basis with the fireball. 1/ marshall 1960a with the celestion gt-75
2/ the V30's that replaced the V60's in the engl cab.
3/ the E-tone 231 drivers that are in the BAEZ cab.
all great speakers and miles better then the shitty V60!

Nah dude, the V60 honestly sounds like there is a blanket over the cab. The frequecies required to cut a mix are just not there.
you can still get a nice thick/ dark sound with the presence dial.
