idk if some of you guys know how to turn the kindle fully off or not, but in case you dont then what you do is instead of just pulling and releasing the switch, you just pull it and then hold it until the screen goes blank :)

I read somewhere that the kindle 3 supports Word & PDF files.

Does the Text-to-Speech feature work on those as well?

@mhbacus I'm not Shelley, but, I've tried to use Text-to-Speech with PDF files and it doesn't work.

My 12 year old daughter is an aspiring author and lover of books. With some help from me and my husband, she just purchased her own Kindle. It arrived an hour ago! She is super excited.@~@ Now I think our other 3 kids --even the 6 year old-- want Kindles.
