The NASL Expanded way too fast starting only in 1970 and main reason they folded by 1985. Not to mention lack of US Born players in 1980. And playing in mostly either NFL or Baseball Stadiums did not help.

I could be wrong but i think the NASL had as many as 22 teams in US and Canada. Should had no more than 10-12 teams IMO until the 1990's. If that happened NASL is still here in 2009.

Soccer should have always had a US League even after end of NASL. MLS is much better run.
