@ejayhawk I could be wrong but I think Tarbash7 might have been talking in musical terms..."tight" as in playing together and sounding tight; not looking tight...and yes, Tarbash7 they did ALWAYS play like that. Fucking amazing band.
Looking forward to seeing The Jayhawks at Webster Hall in January 2011. They're doing Tomorrow the Green Grass. Here's to kickin' off a great new year with a great old band !
Sitting in an airport in Ohio for 5 hours, and was just told that I would be waiting at least another 3 due to inclement weather. Needed a song to settle me down and make me content....my brain led me here.
Brilliant. Man, so many memories of seeing them at First Avenue in Minneapolis. I hear they are flirting with reuniting. Everyone that want's to see this and many many other wonderful songs again live raise their hand.
I usually don't get into such a emo sounding song like this. But when this song was brand new I remember when I was siting on the stair steps at my parents basement. Very lost and confused feeling, like I was at the end of my rope. But I heard this coming from my brothers radio while he slept in one of the rooms downstairs and for that instant it made me feel better. And it may of left my memory forever if not for my brother passing away. And now I feel a conection to him when I hear this played
Wow. I remember when I first heard this song on 'XRT here in Chicago. It's as stunning now as it was the first time I heard it. Their vocals are as sophisticated as anything done by the Beach Boys, The Beatles or The Everly Brothers. Thanks for the great post.
Won't waste space bemoaning the world's great loss---but if you're new to the 'Hawks, be sure to check up on Gary & Tim's solo albums as well as Golden Smog. Best music in the history of the world:guaranteed.
One of my all time favorite songs (sidebar: remember when Jon Stewart was marginally cool?). The Jayhawks performed on Austin City Limits a few years back and it was great--last time I heard of them
Spread the word on these guys --they are a great band (no matter which incarnation they are that you listen to), keep their music playing ... as they sing from the heart., TO touch us all with their song ...
These guys should've taken over the world. One of the best bands EVER hands down. Their fall to obscurity will forever be one of the most tragic lessons of the music biz. Life is NOT fair, and talent doesn't = success. Sad.

That right there is a great band at the peak of its powers. Something to behold.

are these guys ALWAYS so tight?!
Tarbash7 7 months ago
@Tarbash7 Not tight, just more about the music. Not the theatrics. They aren't focused on looking good, but making real heart felt music.

Matthew Sweet's "Sick Of Myself" was the bumper music coming back from the commercial. JS was cool even way back when.

Great story warduke. Music always brings a connection, or memory. I am glad yours is a good one for a sad memory.

im sorry to hear about your brother but thats the great thing about music though

@warduke wouldn't necessarily call it "emo" since it entails the genre but yes! warm. fuzzy. good times man

While Jon Stewart's humor has faded with his age, the Jayhawks were always one of America's greatest bands.
