So its hard for the youth to become motivated to better their lives. Much of our culture has been made into a joke and is steadily losing its roots. Every new generation becomes more & more distant from their traditions & original cultural beliefs. Its tragic, & from the way it seems so far, its unavoidable. Natives are on a thread.

Tell that to the Department of Indian & Northern Affairs, its the label both american/canadian gov't still label us. Alot of our Elders call themselves ndns. We're also "First Nation" "Metis" "Status Indian" "Treaty Indian" "Nonstatus Indian" and a host of other labels. Depends on what the current politically correct term is.

I guess it's more convenient to just go by society's terms rather than operate correctly, despite if it's truely correct or not.
