I like the saddle off my horses shoulder blades, I couldnt tell if thats where u had urs or not it just looked a little higher than I put mine. Also, I'm w/u on throwing the saddle over but my suggestion would be to throw it over from the back so you dont risk accidentally hitting the horses neck w/the stirrups. And to everybody critisizing throwing the saddle over, its not like we throw it ovr and drop it onto their back. You throw it over to get the stirrups over then set it gently on its back
You should get a thicker pad because it will offer more support for the horses back so there is less pressure. like the video though. also you should have at least 3in of saddle pad in front of the saddle so the saddle doesn't go over the saddle pad and it doesn't rub.
Im glad you took the time to show other how to saddle a horse but in my opinion and being around horses and training for many years I think it would be best if you re-watch this video yourself and critque it. It needs better terminology instead of referring parts of the saddle to things you need to use the correct name for the piece and also go into more details as to why the saddle needs to be in a certain spot and also not everyone throws the saddle over like you do, say this is ur way.
Elliehorselover why don't you just keep your post off her wall. She did a fine job showing how to saddle a horse. I have a lot of experience saddleing from working my families ranch to guided trail rides. I never put my stirrups over the horn. I'm also a Roper. In you got a good camera girl to be nine years old. Keep up the good work Chelsea :) btw nice horse
@Elliehorselover100 Wow do you even own horses? Or are u just too naive to think that your way of saddling is the one and only right way to do it? I dont put the stirrup on the horn and I throw my saddle over. I have an overly sensitive horse that was hit and abused and wary of people. Now I walk in and he comes right over, he'll follow me around the pasture, he loves putting his halter on himself and he trots over when he sees the saddle come out. Yeah, sounds like a stirrup-abused horse to me
@emmajayde90 Well some people saddle horses in different ways. The girl who was filming, she is nine so please don't be mean about it. If you don't like it don't watch it.
@emmajayde90 I had to watch it to realise I didn't like it :) Perhaps re-film and focus on the areas being discussed? It was presented well, just dodgy camera work. Thanks for going to the effort nevertheless.
It really helps if you keep the sinch against his belly the whole time while you tighten it. couse when your strapping it, it tends to go up and down, hitting him against his belly.
Um you should turn your back to the horses head when your throwing a saddle because when u do it that way your stir-up can smack him in the head or neck and spook him. Also you can hurt his back like that just saying. Very nice ties though and video :)
@SNCD2011 ohhh ive done that my horse was like "what are you- OHMYGOD OWWWW WTF YO?" he got over it tho and he didnt die but he kinda though he was going to
@22CrazyCowgirl It's cool ;) Just lettin ya kno :D I will be uploading some more videos on like to ride and stuff soon so hope you can watch those! ^_^
hey really nice video, but maybe get a new camera person cuz the one you have now really sucks. i didn't even see how to do up the back cinch cuz all i could see was dirt on the horses coat. also when you horse gets crabby when doing the cinch don't pet him other wise that tells him that its good to act crabby. well, atleast that's the way i was taught and it seems to make sense.
not to be rude but to keep your horse from bein girthy like that is to hold it snug the first time u weave the sinch through instead of lowering it again and then havin it hit his belly again when you weave it the second time and tighten it! :)
you should try a girth with metal rollers. my horse used to back away when i did up the girth until i tried a girth with rollers. it basically dont pull on them as much when you tighten it.
@TheHorseTrainer1 ummmmm.....I don't think so. 16-17 hands is 5ft 4in-5ft 8in. Meaning you'd be, what, like 6 1/2-7 feet tall? I doubt it. My horse is an even 16hh and his withers are even with the top of my head. Mine is a percheron/thoroughbred cross
@hannahfan9871 Ok well thank you so much for your feed back! ^_^ It's always nice to have someone looking out for the safety of people and there horses ;)
You should brush your horse before putting anything on. dirt can really bother horses and causes them to roll. just some helpful tips :)

be careful with the saddle woman! what? are you too lazy to put the stirrups on the horn so you dont abuse your horse?!

when one of my horses gets "cinchy" i do it fast and buck him out
101snakekiller 3 months ago
Didn't like the saddle being thrown over, I prefer to hook the stirrup into the horn and gently place onto the back.
Awful footage of how to thread and tie off the cinch, camera was all over the place.

It's just some advise.
