  • Space Oddity - I believe this song may have been inspired the Syd Barrett's Astronomy Domine. I prefer the latter.

  • 8:18 Niles from Spinal Tap.

  • This is quite good. Nice bass tone on that Boulder demonstration.

  • This is quite good.

  • Bowie is so famous, and justly so, for his presentation - his look, his voice, the way he moves, the costumes and sets, the sound of his records - that it's hard to remember that he is also a guy who writes knockout lyrics, melodies, and chord progressions, just like any great songwriter you could name.

  • 5.25 "we're talking 75 years on". Anyone else hear that?

  • @DanTheManFantastic90 I was too distracted by his wonky teeth. Perhaps he said 35 years on?

  • Space Oddity has the feeling of an opioid high. "Floating"

  • I heard one of the guys on here say that some people say Bowie isn't much of a song craftsmen... to me that's like hearing someone say that Aunt Jemima doesn't know much about pancakes. Bowie is as good as it gets!!!

  • space oddity worked simply cause it's fucking brilliant in every way possible. Nuff said... enough with the over-examination!!!

  • i'm sick of the term chameleon - a creature who changes color in his environment - David never did that - he went into places as a rainbow and made others change to him!

  • I agree but I kinda like the "chamaleon" term, just because it outstands how hard it was for boring journalists to try to define and Bowie.

  • @kingalow1

Bowie himself has rejected that description of him

  • @kingalow1 I think a chameleon is a great way to describe Bowie, as, contrary to popular belief a chameleon actually changes colour to suit its mood, rather than as a camouflage. Therefore, I believe, such a description very much suits Bowie.

  • I think that all of the elements of Space Oddity were perfectly placed. David's voice expressed the Drama, as of a play, the music supported the drama, and the lyrics told the story david was expressing perfectly. Just my opinion. And...Oh yeah, it's because he's great!!!

  • SHOW MORE LOVE!

  • Cheers Rob - Love it !
