I've written news...the news is done like this.

CNN or other network gets a story from American Press or Reuters etc.

CNN or other network rewrites the words of American Press and Reuters to make them sound like their own. This is supposed to be so that the viewer keeps watching your network versus another news network, or so I was taught. I doubt this is the reason, since people usually only watch one news channel at a time.

Perhaps it's to make it seem true. Illusion of researched fact.
