Very powerful scene, I welled up so bad when his dad leans on the cross. I watched this movie this morning after speaking with an elder of my church. This story is so close to what I am going through now, although he was a little more selfish than I as I have been a giver or a marshmallow as my friends say for 25 years. After watching this I can really see where I have gone wrong, it really feels too late but god creates miracles everyday and I pray he will do one in my marriage

@Requiemxtoxinnocence Thats sad. It's reflection of how God loves the Church/the people who accept His love. God made marriage to show us how much He cares. What is going on today with marriage is a reflection of our not understanding and believing in God, who endlessly loves us. God knows we sin, and so He gave us Jesus so our shortcoming of His sacred holyness would not condemn us. When we accept that the sinless Jesus will/did pay our sin, God forgives, and we are no longer bound to our sins.
If he were to go to a marriage counselor, then the counselor would tell him to add more lust in his marriage. True love comes from the One who gave us love.
Please don't listen to people telling you that Christ's standard isn't meant to be kept and lived. Jesus said,
"If you love Me, keep My commandments" (John 14:15).
He also says, "Why do you call Me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46).
Jesus gave us the standard to live by, and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13)! That includes keeping His commandments!
This Christian walk is all about learning how to wait. Especially for that glorious Day of His appearing when all those who persecute us will all have to bow and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Just trust him and surrender all to Him. This movie was a stress test. It was a tv movie shown in theaters. I love god and am fearful and all. That doesn't make any sense. Why love someone when it is very clear they do not love you back or even want you back. And for the record, I don't do religion. I think it is dangerous to our society.
In the words of Caleb's father, "That's a good question." I don't understand how God can have that much love either. I just go with the generic answer, which is that God is love. I think I'll have to watch world history from start to finish from God's perspective before I fully understand His love.

God is both a just and loving God at the same time. That is why He sent His only son to atone for us -His justice, and he did it because He recklessly loves us -His Love. Therefore we should love one another AND live a Christian lifestyle (following Gods law). God did not diminish the consequences of our sin, He paid for it himself in our stead! So keeping Gods commands is just as important as love. Isnt that not how you show your love to God? You can love someone straight to hell, cant you?
What you just said made absolutely no sense. You would agree that God is omnipotent and all powerful, he can do literally anything. Why didn't he send multiple sons and multiple daughters to atone, if he's so powerful why didn't he just control our behaviour and stop our sinning.
That still doesn't answer the question. The whole free will thing is seriously refuted nowadays bearing in mind what we know about human impulses, urges, chemicals in the brain etc. Our biology fuels us and what we do. Do I have the free will not to eat for a week, no I don't think so.
That would be a sad state of affairs if the actions in my life are merely a result of chemical reactions. Science has proved how are body works in many areas, but that doesn't mean that those chemicals are the cause of our actions. If so, then no one really kills anyone, just chemicals kill people & therefore we have no responsiblity for any of our actions.
If you find that a sad state of affairs then that's your business. You should try and get through it. Dopamine, chemical involved in "Love", Oxytocin - bonding hormone, Adrenalin - stress, activity and danger hormone. This is the area of neurobiology and a lot has to mature but it lays very concrete ideas.
Don't get me wrong, this doesn't mean I enter every relationship cynically, thinking all my actions are directed by hormones. At the end of the day those hormones still do their work no matter what I know and I can feel love and affection (and it feels great), or hatred and anger for certain people.
To sum up, do chemical's conduct every action. Probably not (we don't know it full yet). Does God watch over my actions and provide free will - almost certainly not. My opinion.

There is no need for further atonement. God could control our behavior but he doesn't, without choice there would be no love. Focrcing someone to love you is not love, it is a contradiction.
@johnmacward If you were to read the bible, it tells us that we will do greater works than Jesus. It surprised me, how can I do greater than healing lepers, making a blind man see, making the lame walk, walking on water, summoning fish, etc... But I've seen how he's worked in my life. I've been healed from scoliosis, that I had gotten from my collapsed ankles. The way to fix that (according to doctors) is by fixing the ankle first. God fixed my back first then my knees, and now my ankles.

Very powerful scene, I welled up so bad when his dad leans on the cross. I watched this movie this morning after speaking with an elder of my church. This story is so close to what I am going through now, although he was a little more selfish than I as I have been a giver or a marshmallow as my friends say for 25 years. After watching this I can really see where I have gone wrong, it really feels too late but god creates miracles everyday and I pray he will do one in my marriage

@Requiemxtoxinnocence Thats sad. It's reflection of how God loves the Church/the people who accept His love. God made marriage to show us how much He cares. What is going on today with marriage is a reflection of our not understanding and believing in God, who endlessly loves us. God knows we sin, and so He gave us Jesus so our shortcoming of His sacred holyness would not condemn us. When we accept that the sinless Jesus will/did pay our sin, God forgives, and we are no longer bound to our sins.

Please don't listen to people telling you that Christ's standard isn't meant to be kept and lived. Jesus said,
"If you love Me, keep My commandments" (John 14:15).
He also says, "Why do you call Me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46).
Jesus gave us the standard to live by, and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13)! That includes keeping His commandments!

This Christian walk is all about learning how to wait. Especially for that glorious Day of His appearing when all those who persecute us will all have to bow and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Just trust him and surrender all to Him. Worship Him and Serve Him.Things may not work out how we want it to but always get hope in the fact that He is always working everything out for our eternal salvation. I love you Jesus. My Jesus did not come to sit the prostitutes down and read them the bible, He came and sat with them, was a friend to them, talked in a way that they understood. Wonderful clip but I think it's missing a step.
Something along the lines of how one needs to accept their failures, embrace Jesus as their redeemer, try to do his will, truly feel bad when you don't and attempt to both make amends and do right next time.

This movie was a stress test. It was a tv movie shown in theaters. I love god and am fearful and all. But this movie was pretty much the worst thing i have ever seen........horrible, horrible acting, the worst script ever, and a very boring repetitive 2 hour no interest movie. If anything this was a like going to a therapist while sitting in a dentist chair.

God loves you so so much that he gave you free will. He let's us leave even though he knows that we will disobey and sin against him. When you get married and have kids, would you not let you child be born knowing that one day he would disobey you and ultimately dishonor and hurt you. No you would love that child so much and give him the opportunity to love you back without forcing him.

In the words of Caleb's father, "That's a good question." I don't understand how God can have that much love either. I just go with the generic answer, which is that God is love. I think I'll have to watch world history from start to finish from God's perspective before I fully understand His love.
As for religion, to which type are you referring? Legalism--that is, caring more about rules than about people, which I agree is bad? Or caring for widows and orphans, which is good?

God is both a just and loving God at the same time. That is why He sent His only son to atone for us -His justice, and he did it because He recklessly loves us -His Love. Therefore we should love one another AND live a Christian lifestyle (following Gods law). God did not diminish the consequences of our sin, He paid for it himself in our stead! So keeping Gods commands is just as important as love. Isnt that not how you show your love to God? You can love someone straight to hell, cant you?

That still doesn't answer the question. The whole free will thing is seriously refuted nowadays bearing in mind what we know about human impulses, urges, chemicals in the brain etc. Our biology fuels us and what we do. Do I have the free will not to eat for a week, no I don't think so.

That would be a sad state of affairs if the actions in my life are merely a result of chemical reactions. Science has proved how are body works in many areas, but that doesn't mean that those chemicals are the cause of our actions. If so, then no one really kills anyone, just chemicals kill people & therefore we have no responsiblity for any of our actions.

Dopamine, chemical involved in "Love", Oxytocin - bonding hormone, Adrenalin - stress, activity and danger hormone. This is the area of neurobiology and a lot has to mature but it lays very concrete ideas.

Don't get me wrong, this doesn't mean I enter every relationship cynically, thinking all my actions are directed by hormones. At the end of the day those hormones still do their work no matter what I know and I can feel love and affection (and it feels great), or hatred and anger for certain people.
To sum up, do chemical's conduct every action. Probably not (we don't know it full yet). Does God watch over my actions and provide free will - almost certainly not. My opinion.

@johnmacward God the Father sent his one and only Son, who is and always was God, to take on a second nature and become human for humanity. His death was a sufficient sacrifice for the entire world. There is no need for further atonement. God could control our behavior but he doesn't, without choice there would be no love. Focrcing someone to love you is not love, it is a contradiction.

@johnmacward If you were to read the bible, it tells us that we will do greater works than Jesus. It surprised me, how can I do greater than healing lepers, making a blind man see, making the lame walk, walking on water, summoning fish, etc... But I've seen how he's worked in my life. I've been healed from scoliosis, that I had gotten from my collapsed ankles. The way to fix that (according to doctors) is by fixing the ankle first. God fixed my back first then my knees, and now my ankles.
