  • Assuming the defender dodged, then the grab would be fine. But this isn't a tutorial on how to dodge.

  • where is your school

  • where is your school?

  • godDAMN a white boy doing kungfu? Whoa :D

    damndamndamn i wish i continued kungfu ):

  • that was good. i liked that.

  • Nothern?! Ha! Southern FTW!

  • The slow punch is only for demonstration -.-

Praying mantis is a very fast style. I really would like to learn this!

  • Not really a block but a deflection.

  • Nice and simple, effective, i do southern mantis and all i have to say is that a gow choy would be nice as well after you grab that guy =)

  • thanks i wanna learn all animal styles im very good at snake just wanna learn the others like crane, mantis, and tiger.

  • the block seems pretty good but, it's on the outside gate. i take white crane n there's a very similar block -wing parry- which is on the inside gate widening ur options for counterattack

    ex: right arm blocks left.

  • you can use this block on the inside gate to. It all depends on the situation. But this is new beginner stuff.. so easy first. More advanced later.... like going on the inside gate.

  • Hi I just want your opinion on some things:

    1. Most people who see PM Kung Fu think it look funny and weird, what do you think about that?

    2. Most self-defence expert would say its un smart to stand on one leg and holding your hands like that in front of an aggressor, using your hands open is better. What do you think about that?

    3. Do you think the art can be just as effective with open hands instead of the hooking formatation?

Thank you very much in advance!

  • It's the old aikido thing, that someone's going to loose a haymaker in a very telegraphed punch.

That does happen, I particulary like the video of Jet Lee(must be a made up name), knocking some guy out, that used to be on here.

But it's all a bit more problematic if the guy knows what he's doing and begins to spar, feinting makes it harder, if not impossible to gauge when to block. If he runs forward and grabs you then you're scrambling around on the ground trying to get a head lock on.

  • This technic works...you have to train a lot...punches must be directed on faces so it gets real, the strenght of this punch...depends!for beguinners: slow..for advanced:fast and real!

  • yup...train train train!!!

  • i notice the catching is done when the opponent uses a rather heavy punch but what if they were to punch and then pull back their hand real quick?

  • you generally only catch slower punches. I don't think any catch is meant to go after fast punches, cause that will just open you to another one of their fast punches while trying to catch the first punch

  • what attacker would ever attack someone with a slow punch ??????

  • a slower punch would be one that takes longer to execute, such as a spinning backfist or a hook punch. Hell, even a punch from that side that is further back is slower. Let's not forget a strike where the attacker is trying to gain ground and move in (let's say the person defending has been keeping their distance from the attacker because it gives them an advantage). Not every strike is meant to be the fastest you can throw, otherwise we'd only throw straight punches.

  • who cares, dont like it dont use it

  • Probably the sheer speed of the attack would cause you to grab the upper part of the arm?

  • 1. you should never catch people's lower arm.

    2. if your master is Chinese, i dont think the go-back hit he showed to you was like this. 来叫顺送 is not like that fake.

  • The major flaw in demonstration is that the attacker is not aiming to the defender or he ends way too far from the target.

  • ass
