  • the ONLY American band I would put close to Oasis is The Killers.... And their not even in the same room as Oasis....

  • mint tune

  • awesome

  • This is great. It's an actual live performance. You can easily differentiate between this and the studio version. And that's the point, it's nice and raw.

  • Is it fair to say that this whole music generation belonging to countries is subject to taste? Because I would never in a billion generations want to listen to Metallica and your also looking at it purley from a guitar based music perspective

  • @01372727676 Metallica sucks, but I guess that'd be an accurate statement, that and upbringing.

  • the best

  • I don't even know why i'm writing on this as some of the comments are stupid.

    50's AMERICA thats a fact.

60's well bands such as Cream, The Beatles and The Kinks ect could not be touched.

    70's was awful.

80's - THE SMITHS, the lyrics are genius, Moz and Marr, no one can compare.

90's were awful, dominated by Oasis

00's - today. US all audio dubbed shit, a few decent UK bands in Arctic monkeys, Milburn. 'Pop' music is horrible.

  • @farehamsam Stupidest Comment of The Week

  • @farehamsam 70s. two words Led Zeppelin.

  • @lewwoo1981 ................and 4 letters AC/DC

  • noel's brief usage of a gold les paul....

  • the beatles, led zeplin the who, pink floyd, the stone roses, oasis and now the acrtic monkeys britain FTW

  • @Joejoelorretta Replace Led Zep with T.Rex and Pink Floyd with The Smiths and you've hit the nail on the head

  • Is Tony mccaroll wearing glasses?

  • @JWLOFFICIAL Yep

  • Holy christ i caused that giant debate down there on my other account sorry about that.......

  • Oh and great Blues,Jazz musicians..

  • im a neutral from Europe to this UK-US debate and im 20 so i can give unbiased opinion...UK is the mecca of music has been and always will be and it has never even been close..Only really good thing that has come out from US is Michael and Motown..

  • I love O-asis

  • oasis save the world!!

  • Damn this would've been awesome in 720P HDV. 5.1 Audio optional, I find Live Performances always sound like crap coming from the front 3.

  • poor tony mccaroll he was just crap on drums

  • @elguido22 that's completely wrong, he was just perfect for definitely maybe. He´s not a very talented drummer but that first CD wasn't very complex. With another drummer they would't sound as good. Noel said the same in an interview

  • What a song to introduce america to oasis...we are so lucky to have bred them!!

  • My ears are having sex .

  • proper nothern football look that...jacket's on indoor's!...

  • @74bomayemcfc They're part of the Droylsden firm.

  • i was 7. good times

  • we introduce to u america oasis and u just carry on with grunge you stupid sods u have bloody blessed at least britain moved on from grunge

  • @TheCenterofComedy4u grunge was good

  • @teethgrinder07 i know it was but not as good as oasis cause for me grunge was just nevermind then it ended

  • @TheCenterofComedy4u Yes Britain produced the greatest music of the 20th century, but i anybody would rather listen to grunge than that shitty ass indie "rock" that is spewing out of england's ass.

  • @TheOppbitch That's a bit ironic how your saying that the music coming from England nowadays is rubbish yet you have the likes of Justin Bieber; Rebecca Black; Lady GAGA and Lil Wayne. Yet we have the Arctic Monkeys who have released a total of about 90 songs and have just released an album which became number 1 in England.

We also have kasabian and Plan B. IDIOT!!! :P

  • @menamesjames Bieber is Canada which is a whole different country (but if you count him as ours then we also get Rush), Rebecca Black is not even famous... she just caught everyones eye for being so bad. Lady Gaga is just like any other shite pop artist, and I am ashamed of my country for thinking Lil Wayne is good at all. On the other hand, we do have Foo Fighters and Metallica. I liked Arctic Monkeys first album but they cracked under pressure after being called "the band to save british rock"

  • @menamesjames Kasabian sucks dick, and im not even gonna waste my time replying to Plan B. Hahahaha. Anyways music goes in cycles just like everything else, which means that sometime in the next decade rock will be saved by somebody. It just depends whether it will be America or England.

    1950's - America

    1960's - England

    1970's - America

    1980's - America

    1990's - England

2000's - America (Although it was close considering almost everything sucked).

    2010's - ?

  • @TheOppbitch Great bands from both countries in all decades. But 80's and 2000's had some of the best British music of all time. 80's - The Smiths, The Stone Roses, The Cure, Joy Division. 2000's - The Libertines, Arctic Monkeys, The Fratellis, King Blues, Mumford & Sons etc

  • @thecrossfirecasualty Well, yeah. I'm not here to get in an arguement, I was just giving my perspective. I understand your viewpoint as I am sure you understand mine. We're both obviously gonna have biased opinions, but I am not gonna deny that England has had the greater rock music overall in the past century.

  • @TheOppbitch Wasn't trying to argue. Just said that all the decades have great bands from the US and the UK.

  • @thecrossfirecasualty Oh no, i know you weren't trying to argue, just sometime other people try to might you down if you say something they don't agree with. I agree with you, great bands from both sides. Now that I think about it though, I would give the 70's to England for sure. I dont know what I was thinking.

  • @TheOppbitch not sure that America had all that dominance, considering the Rolling Stones, partly the Beatles, the Kinks, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Elton John, Queen etc were in the 70's, and most of them carried through to the late 80's.

  • @TheOppbitch Change this to 50's America, Then Britain thru to present. No contest. The End. But I will give you lot the best solo artist in the last 20 years in Beck.

  • @eddiejamison We take present because Foo Fighters are the best band of the last decade, and we take '80s because Metallica in the 80's alone is enough to do so (Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets, ...And Justice For All. I dont give a shit who you had in the 80's, you cant beat that. Period.) I do not know what I was thinking when I said we had the 70s though, I take that one back.

  • When will this song ever be played live again??

  • @dovestones deep

  • liam's voice sounds really good to me in this performance

  • Please welcome to the show O-A-SIS

  • @jhs4jr Maybe their manc accent confused him and he was thinking the name was "Oh, hey sis!"

  • @ftwelve12

there was an oasis tribute act called no-way sis... it got on top of the pops.. might be on youtube lol

  • They have been on Letterman alot, and even Beady Eye will be debuting on letterman in a week. So does Letterman just love Oasis, and Beady Eye?

  • that sounds awful just awful

  • Hahahaha

I´m happy to know that Tony McCarrol had his chance to play in Letterman and on US TV. Well deserved.

  • Wheres the outro?!

  • i love the way letterman acts like their just another band..

  • LIVE FOREVER,, EPIC

  • No need for Noel's vocal... spoils it

  • Liam couldn't sing those parts though.

  • @GKFC Neither could Noel..... thats why neither of them sang it on the actual recording...

  • Liam did on the single / album version. But stopped doing it live.

Noel took over but wasn't very strong vocally until WTSMG so sounded rather weak live...

  • @GKFC sorry but you are wrong, the high part on the actual recording was not sung by either Liam or Noel.. it was sung by the producer.. if you send me your email address I will send you an mp3 of the isolated vocal from the recording... its obvious. Thing is there are vids on youtube of Liam singing the high part and he can do it very capably.

  • The Producer did it? Haha... wow... what bs. Upload it to YouTube, would be interested to hear this "proof" that you have.

Liam sang the high part in the demo, single and live versions prior to / during 1994.

He stopped singing it around that time because the stress he was putting on his voice made it harder for him to falsetto. Noel took over and continued to do it in later versions.

  • @GKFC cid-1d36575799557159.office.live.com/self.aspx/Public/live%20forever%20vocal.mp3 - add www

  • Sounds exactly like Liam to me.

The claims around the internet just don't stick imo.

Listen to the demo... the performance from the Boardwalk in 1993... still sounds like him.

Even at Gleneagles... his falsetto was still there. Liam could still sing this when Definitely Maybe was recorded.

I've got a recording of him saying "I've got a bit of a sore throat so I can't get some of them bits" after Live Forever during a later live gig in 1994. He just stressed his voice out and lost it...

  • God Tony Sucks

  • nickmorod is a jew who fucks his mam, if nickmordo came to the uk and said that he'd have no teeth, fuckn yankee fat bastard.

  • odd to see liam without a bucket hat or sunglasses

  • Oasis was only good in the 90s, their new shit sucks. And fuck off, Brits. Get some new teeth.

  • @nickmordo

american rock music has nothing even average (i dont tell about outstanding) more than a decade already.

or you believe that green day/linkin park/kid rock - are real talents ?? )))

  • @aphextwin2000 Who has England had since early Oasis (everything after Be Here Now is...... well OKAY at best)? I'm not trying to be a dick but seriously "rock" music has sucked for far too long on both sides of the ole' pond. Just sayin'...... who are good British bands currently? Please don't say Beady Eye because well anyone who says that should take off their rosey colored round sunglasses.

  • @iliveinabox4 Try Kasabian

  • blows american shit out of the water

  • Most of us Americans don't say "oh-a-sis." Dave just likes to stretch out the words.

  • lol he plays drums like a bitch lol

  • Love it how Oasis always went back on David Letterman.

Always a good performance as well.

  • That was great! I got shivers down my spine.

I can only imagine how buzzin Noel and the rest of the band were feeling, playing here (let alone how impressed the audience surely were!)

  • could've used a better drummer..

  • Early Oasis is the best thing ever happened on Earth

  • Noel looks like a retard at 1:14

  • Liam seems nervous

  • Letterman: "Great song." I agree, sir.

  • 94 oasis, a short moment that god visited our world

  • olha o Noel dando pitaco em alguns trechos.....bom hein?!!!

  • I always liked Tony's drumming..it fired them all along

  • as andy partridge of xtc once said, "turn off the fuzzbox and it's gerry and the pacemakers, or worse, herman's hermits"

  • @fuckamericanidiot

Herman's Hermits were a great band.

Stop talking nonsense you strange little man.

  • When shit was real for real people!

  • the drugs dont work

  • I can play or here this solo for 475893475893247532 times, and I'll still love it the same:)

  • the sound is terrible, way to much distortion aswell.. although noel's solo is impeccable as usual

  • @farlo90 i've never seen them play with just marshalls. this was their first u.s trip, they didnt bring all their shit with them maybe...i agree it's too marshall for me

  • Oasis live forever…

  • gooood old times ....

  • is this HD?

  • @neilwilson557 More like 3D.

  • Love this song. Loved Oh AAAA SIS too lol

  • Just amazing!!!

  • Noel should be knighted, his music has insprired a generation and will continue for decades to come.Cant wait for the solo album!!!

  • Noel pointing at Letterman haha

  • First time I loved the bad quality :-D

  • This video deservers 100 000 000 milion views..!!

  • in true 1990s VHS style

  • i remember seeing oasis for the first time on mtv most wanted with ray cokes and this made me sit up and watch no band has done that since 1994

  • the most stand out song in the last 20 30 years

  • You just feel, watching them perform, that they were worth more than the entire state that they were performing in.

  • Brits bitch (rightfully) about Americans not embracing Oasis yet Letterman speaks kindly of the band and you get mad? It's not his fault Americans are slow to embrace Brits (even with their relative lack of success, they might be the most popular British act in the US of my lifetime).

  • @j2f125 its only a bit of fun we know yas hate it geting slaged lol we dont mean it mate lol

  • Unibrow FAIL.

  • @2spoolin90 life fail

  • tonys drumming is in time and theres no mistakes in his drumming here

  • The solo was great ... Just the best band in the world...!!!

  • haha noel wavin at the camera at d end

  • I LOVEEEE OASISSSSSS, seriously, it's a shame so many Americans are missing out

  • @babyboosabz well this is one american that's not missing out...i love these guys

  • why ppl are saying the drummer is bad? is drumming too fast?

  • tony the drummer is an annoyin cunt as well as being shit on the drums no wonder they sacked hi, hes fuckin shite

  • great song.

  • OH-A-SIS

    americans.. lmao

  • @1993ChelseaFC fuck off m8 letterman talks the dogs bollocks not all americans sound like bloody fools

  • @1993ChelseaFC

Dont you just hate kids like this on youtube? They have a different accent, so what.

  • @1993ChelseaFC fuck americans

  • @1993ChelseaFC hahaha

  • @1993ChelseaFC I'm American and I lol'd when he pronounced it so oddly

  • @1993ChelseaFC

No American says oasis like he did. He just broke it down be syllables.

  • @1993ChelseaFC haha I know. Us Americans can't say things right. :D

  • @1993ChelseaFC We don't pronounce it that way...that is letterman.

  • @1993ChelseaFC That's just Letterman. He pronounces everything wrong, without fail.

  • this feels fucking loud lol

  • brilliant - but, lets face it, not the best stage presence of all time

  • noely G we need you back

  • LOL making fun of letterman at the end.

  • gotta b the best performance in late show history haha

  • 3 full stack marshall rigs in a little TV studio??? Holy shit, I love old Oasis!!!

  • Thank you for putting this on. Was this their famed American debut? I see Tony McCarroll was still in the lineup then. LOL

I read this Bio on Oasis that said Tony was pissing off Guigsy, so Guigsy lost it and threatened to stab him. So Tony goes and knocks on Noel's door to complain. So Noel happed to be with this groupie right? He tells him that if he didn't go away, that if Guigsy didn't, that he would. heheee

  • my favourite oasis song, first time the yanks got a hear of it... wonder what they thought.

  • the ones that fukn knew better nearly fell outta their chairs and thought it was the best fkn thing to come along in 20 yrs. the others are retarded....

  • it was something else when oasis broke through. there's not been anything like it since and i feel lucky to have been mid-teens when it happened

  • i meant world xx

  • theres not a band that will ever smash the world apart like this..oasis and the beatles thats all u need, WE as a worls will ALWAYS walk in the shadws of the words and the swagger of such a creation x

  • lol david letterman can't say Oasis properly

  • Ohh A Sis.

    lol

  • @dtbails this song is soo terribly easy to drum that it is impossible to make mistakes. He drums it perfectly.

  • Why do people turn it into a class issue? I'm from a working class family so maybe I can relate to the music more, but I wouldn't look down on a middle class Oasis fan in any way

  • agreed. talking class structures and music is an argument people will never win because music (especially great music) transcends class.

  • class structure in any walk of life is vital especially in music, you seriously don't think a bunch of middle class students could write a song like this, because they couldn't.

  • what about radiohead?

  • @merlin999fall fuck radiohead

  • Comment removed

  • @tomsega You got 4 thumbs down for that comment, un-fucking-believable. Oasis don't even come close to the Clash. London Calling is a top 10, maybe even top 5 album of all time.

  • Comment removed

  • @tomsega You obviously completely misunderstood my comment. I was agreeing with you and thought it was wrong you got 4 thumbs down for that comment. I was saying its unbelievable people disagree with you. However I won't even bother next time.

  • @RizoSaysAha - london calling is a really good album, but oasis are better haha

  • @sesswing Yeah I guess it was pretty dumb of me to get worked up over something so subjective lol.

  • @sesswing London Calling is a GREAT album, and not in Letterman's sense of the word. lol

  • @RizoSaysAha I agree, neither Gallagher is a Joe Strummer. I recognize the talent though. It's a shame they can't put their differences aside.

  • @RizoSaysAha and what is Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory?

  • @LeBuckeye Top 30, London Calling is top 10 of all-time. Plus The Stone Roses ranks far better.

  • @LeBuckeye

masterplan b side album is better than both

  • eh? Its not like hes making mistakes lol. Its in time so what you complaining about?

  • haha Noels Jacket is bulletproof

  • haha

the sound is f'in bullet proof oasis at their best

  • in 1994 liam used to be able to sing ''gonna live forever'' really high pitched, but then starting in 1995 noel always did it.

  • why?

  • Yes it was a deal that they made. To change it so that Liam could get more of a break in the songs. There was a bit debate between Liam and Noel about that. Noel mentions it in a 2007 interview.

  • Really.

Care to share the interview? Because my money is on the fact that Liam couldn't sing falsetto very well live after thrashing it for so long.

  • the best.

  • Noel's voice has got sooo much better.

  • god, so fucking good
