We intervened on the side of those who were interested in breaking Yugo, primarily Croats/Slovenes and their German/Austrian/Papal benefactors. Bosnia gave a similar excuse for continues legitimacy of NATO, post USSR.
There were nationalist extremists on all sides. Why do we only hear about the Serbian manifestations of such? And why wouldn't a country fight against secession?
Though maniacs may have spoken of a Greater Serbia, it was more a question of the fact that Serbs existed in Croatia/Bosnia for centuries, AND the President of the nascent Croatia implemented laws that put the Serbs in a second class position. So why wouldn't this happen? And why would we blame only one faction?
