Atheists are constantly being attacked and labelled angry, by those within organized religion because they can't understand the frustration we feel and have trying to fight the ignorance religion propagates throughout the world.
@dan91709 Christians do NOT advocate rejecting evidence for appealing delusions, that is a typical athiest caricature,we assert there is simply much more evidence than existensialism admits.BTW,speaking of beliefs contra to evidence- HOW does one empiricly test/falsify the big bang theory? BTW how did life begin?BTW do you have ANY empirical evidence that anything has EVER created ITSELF? ''I dream of Jeannie'' is a sitcom to Christians but obviously a documentary to athiests.
@MegaFloyd100 "we assert there is simply much more evidence than existensialism admits"
In other words, you assert that your "evidence" can't be observed because it doesn't exist. At last. We finally agree. XD
Unlike fairy tales and desert myths, science is subject to real evidence. I'm sure stories of god finding parking spaces, healing the sick, and smiting homosexuals are all entertaining, but here are 50 proofs your god is imaginary:
@MegaFloyd100 With regard to your question concerning the causality of the universe, some things are beyond our experience. Science doesn't fill the unknown with myths and legends, but with hypotheses that help us test conjectures to help find what really happened. Goes on far too long and the upward inflection on her voice annoys me. I know I'm being petty and she's right but this kinda stuff bores me these days, it's all already been said 1000000 times and 1000000 times better.
@dan91709 Don't forget cannibalism (jesus says "eat my flesh and drink my blood") slavery (owning humans as property) violence (beating slaves) incest (Noah's Ark + Adam & Eve) and god sending people to hell on purpose (predestination) just to name a few more problems with that hideous piece of shit called the bible.
Christians believe that a sadomasochistic virgin male human sacrifice that's also the "all-loving" creator of the universe killed himself so that he could forgive people for imaginary crimes (like eating bacon). Their "unchanging" god-monster is the very same child-murdering genocidal racist slavery endorsing dictator of "moral values" and "justice" that ordered the sexual mutilation of Jewish children and the torture of Job.
@dan91709 But it's all good, cause here in the United States, our country "was founded on the bible." I guess that means we can kill anyone who's not a christian, and buy slaves from neighboring lands. :D
i notice their skeptisism is very selective! A Singularity ex Nihlo explodes to create an entire solar system and planet earth, THEN, irreducibly complex cells / life magically appearing from NON LIVING matter.! They dont seem skeptical about THAT little pseudo-scientific story.
@MegaFloyd100 I think you just described creationism. You forgot to mention that the magic is god and he also created the universe and not just the solar system, unless you don't believe galaxies exist, but you're free to believe that too and I'll defend your right to believe it
@MegaFloyd100 Life from non life is proved in laboratory settings. At-least we test our beliefs (Scientists), rather than accepting an intelligent being POOFED into existence and POOFED everything else into existence.. wow..
And this year... THIS FUCKIN' YEAR!! Two children got beaten to DEATH by their relatives (in the UK FFS!) for being witches. Witches!! Y'know... those things that don't exist!?!? Grrr...
I don't care if you want to believe magical faeries shit gold bricks and fart rainbow sprinkles, as long as you keep your mythology out of schools and your delusions out of government.
@k7leetha here we go ,leave the orgins of man to the unkown evolution is not science in fact its soooooo much closer to religion that I find it funny, enjoy your faith.
@j2mfp78 You're a fucking idiot. You're picking and choosing what parts of science you agree with and what you don't, ignorantly declaring your superior oversight of the same methodological approach that is firmly embedded in every field of science.
Again, you're a fucking idiot. I've been hearing retards like you my whole life, and you all sound like one enormous bowel movement.
@OfLanceTheLonginus You're evidently not familiar with certain forms of expression and reinforcement. Have you ever written a paper? Hold you're breath and see if I give a shit about your opinion. You missed the salient point entirely, asshole.
@k7leetha You sound like your about to start crying, relax... breath in & breath out, look if it makes you feel better your 100% right. YOU WIN YOU CAME FROM A MONKEY have a nice life....because we know you dont believe in an after life so i'll let you win this one.
@j2mfp78 lol I'm sure for a fucking retard like yourself it does take a concerted effort to put words together, but we're not all braindead fucksticks like you, so the struggle just isn't there. But, as soon as you pull your dick out of the bible and put some blood back in feel free to try thinking again, I always condone you inbred fucks trying to better yourselves.
@k7leetha "your an an idiot, retard dork blah blah" okay are you done u sound like your 12, sorry I dont follow or really like religion doesnt mean I automaticaly have to believe in evolution.
@j2mfp78 I'm sorry it's difficult for you to understand, but since you're a fucking idiot, I'm not surprised. The fact that you think I'm "worked up" just emphasizes your fucking idiocy. Maybe fucking idiots like you have to get aggressive to put words together, but ... that's why you're a fucking idiot. That, and your stupidity.
@k7leetha Nice Bin Ladden pic, & no i'm not down with incest isnt that an atheist thing, next year when the new trend comes around you'll probably hate evolution too havent you noticed its the the new thing to hate GOD now all the cool kids are doing it.
@j2mfp78 That's not who it is. Amazing how presumptuous you are. There's no god to hate, only fucking idiots like you. And yeah, I have no problem saying I hate people like you.
@j2mfp78 And no, you fucking retard, you randomly throwing the atheist label up doesn't give reference to the amount of boy-buttfuckers your religion has protected.
So much anger everywhere bitches we are on the same fucking planet an religion (theistic) does nothing but divide us. So much anger!!!!! Oh Galileo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to give some people credit... after all showing the same retarded unthinking morons (theist) that they don't understand shit over and over and over and they still don't learn a damn thing..... and being able to keep going... and in some cases without losing it .... it is just more than i can do....
Thank you so very much for such an enlightening and uplifting talk.
I found myself nodding in agreement from the start and was soon cheering you on with the rest of the crowd.
But I have to say you missed one point: and that's the self-preservation from the armageddon some fundies would like to rain down on all of us to bring the second coming. But that's incidental.
I'm also angry at all the shit you enumerated and for the same reasons as well.
@mikefromwa And what, athiests are thus somehow all loving and caring? With full equality? What about the Christian branches that stick to themselves and follow a passive lifestyle that does not toxicate the world? Want to get rid of them too and replace it with what you believe in? Yeah, that SURE MAKES athiests peaceful. I can agree that the horrid, sexist and unjustified branches of Christiantity should be tackled, but BY FAR NOT the peaceful branches, they don't hurt no nobody.
@RubbishElectrons: "athiests are thus somehow all loving and caring? "
Nope, I never said that. There are lots of asshole atheists too. There are good and bad people of every stripe. But the atheist assholes don't pretend that they're doing what they do because some Higher Power has given them a mandate to act like assholes.
@mikefromwa Well it seems to me atheists like to blame religion as the worlds problem but the truth is that the nature of mankind is to blame...Jesus and Communism had good intentions...but became more corrupt through time. In my view anyways.
@cjcool91: "it seems to me atheists like to blame religion as the worlds problem"
Yes, and they're right to do so. Honestly, I can't think of anything that's been responsible for as much hate, death, bigotry, sexism, heartache, guilt, and unhappiness as religion. Nothing else even comes close. Let me know the next time an atheist files a plane into a building, endorses slavery, or starts a "holy war" and we'll talk.
@mikefromwa Yes,stay tuned next week folks to see mikefromwa's brilliant, balanced, honest 'research' reveal that Christians are really alien cyborgs that eat children & Jesus was a robot serial killer!
@MegaFloyd100: "Christians are really alien cyborgs that eat children"
They admit to eating the flesh and blood of Jesus in the Eucharist ceremony, don't they? And they certainly like raping children, so it wouldn't surprise me a bit if they ate them too.
"Jesus was a robot serial killer"
No, Jesus was a zombie. He died, he came back...sure sounds like a zombie to me.
Thanks for playing, MegaFloyd, better luck next time. :)
@k7leetha: "Don't forget owning and beating slaves is completely acceptable"
It's not just acceptable, it was clearly endorsed by god. He gave explicit instructions on the care and beating of slaves, so clearly he was all in favor of it. Good ol' loving god. What a guy!
@joemantex: "Hateful delusional people from every religion."
Yup. Virtually all religions are basically social clubs whose charters include hating everyone who isn't in the club. Especially Christianity and Islam, two of the most hateful religions ever conceived.
@MegaFloyd100 Seriously? What can you say about the list of horrors that have been inflicted on many people (regardless of belief) because of religion? Anything? Please do tell.
@uglyandbad You raise an excellent point.i could easily say the same about athiesm of course! Which religion do you refer to? i cant comment if you dont differentiate between religions ,as to lump the Amish in with Islam is wierd.
@MegaFloyd100 Do not sidestep, the lady in the video provided a very good list of horrors that have been committed against people because of religion and all you could say was that she presented atheists as victims. So, again, what can you say about those horrors? And no, you cannot say the same thing about atheism because the LACK or absence of belief in a "god" does not make you do anything.
@uglyandbad Quit repeating pc slogans & think !You seem to have missed every point i made.Again-which religion are you reffering to? Do you seriously assert that athiest regimes are blameless[ergo athiesm = world peace?]Do you have amnesia with respect to modern history? ''LACK or absence of belief in a "god" does not make you do anything.''A VERY Naive & shallow statement. No god = man is animal = has no intrinsic value.Human rights was birthed from the concept that all men r made in gods image.
@MegaFloyd100 First of all, you made no points. All you said was that the lady in this video made atheists look like victims. And I responded to you by asking what you can say about all the things she mentioned where religion could be indicted, and you seem to be dodging the question. Now, if you could at least educate yourself and learn that those "atheists" regimes as you call them, did the things they did because they replaced one dogma with another one which has nothing to do with atheism.
@uglyandbad i can only speak for christianity, but when the aforementioned atrocities are commited in the name of Jesus they are acting hypocritically AGAINST their professed belief system, however when stalin, hitler pol pot commited their crimes they were acting CONSISTENTLY within their belief system.[ie-man is little more than an animal, and other such social darwinist /eugenicist ideals.]Socialism says the state is more important than the individual, & individual rights are a ''privelage''.
@MegaFloyd100 Well Jesus said something like "If you are not with me, you are against me" -a very bellicose statement already, so he is not the most optimal model of morals around. Christianity is broken from within and the atrocities committed on people because of christianity could very well find their justification in the bible. If you'd say that not to be the case, you'd be showing how little you know about the scriptures of your faith.
@uglyandbad You seem to be saying that self proclaimed athiest regimes that do wrong are not to blame, but their ideas are.Man is indivisible from his ideas,so who takes responsibility for the resulting actions? You seem to want to have it both ways here.what do you mean?Athiesm is a religion anyway.
@MegaFloyd100 No, atheism is not a religion. You either a) are ignorant of what the word atheist means or b) use this canned theist response to the fact that "atheism" exposes the problems with the theist position. Right, those regimes did what they did because of some ideas (distorted and all), not the lack of them... So you are saying something like your lack of belief in leprechauns is the reason behind some of your actions? Think about it.
@uglyandbad In 1961, the U.S. Supreme Court acknowledged that Secular Humanism was a religion. John Dewey described Humanism as our "common faith." Julian Huxley called it "Religion without Revelation." The first Humanist Manifesto spoke openly of Humanism as a religion. Many other Humanists could be cited who have acknowledged that Humanism is a religion.
@MegaFloyd100 Do you even see what you are saying? Okay, let's say that humanism is a religion. Fine. And your point is? humanism is bad because is a religion? When are you theists going to learn that your arguments are old, beaten and completely irrelevant?
@MegaFloyd100 And also, your statement "No god = man is animal" has to be one of the most narrow minded views on humanity owed to religion. You are wrong, there are many people who do not believe in any gods and still embrace their humanity and have productive, purposeful and love-filled lives... Your "god" is not necessary for any of that, in fact it is a big obstacle in most cases. Human rights are errr, "human"? It seems to you are just saying what your religious indoctrination taught you.
@uglyandbad It is not narrow minded but a logical extension of all darwinian theory. If man evolved from apes etc man is an animal,as modern sociology & psychology will maintain. There is no basis for objective morals, and ''societies benefit'' is the greatest good,as socialism teaches. The trouble arises when governments get to decide ''what is best for societies benefit'',& from there decide which citizens are worthy of life.Yes,I know that many athiests have better morals than religious folks.
@MegaFloyd100 No problem at all with man being an animal. Objective morality surely does not originate from your god and thankfully so, because your god is really a monster (thankfully, imaginary). If you know many atheists (an I would argue for a majority) have better morals than theists, then it does not follow that you attribute the atrocities of the "atheist" regimes to atheism and not the regimes (and their ideals) themselves.
@uglyandbad no,just as all ,genuine, christians are not responsible for the actions of organised[politicised] religion, all athiests are not responsible for the actions of ploiticised athiesm. However, you unjustly lumped all religious people in the same boat earlier, which prompted my reply.ps-If banning religion because of its potential for misuse by fanatics is your solution, then you better ban athiesm & nuclear research as well.
@MegaFloyd100 I never made all christians responsible for the horrors of religion, so I don't know where you got that from. I don't want to ban religion, in fact I will fight for the right that people have to believe in whatever fantasy they want as long as such belief it is kept PRIVATE, and away from our schools, courtrooms, government and pretty much everything public of consequence. You keep making the same old mistake most theists make, which is not understanding what atheism is and isn't.
Why can't atheists concede that it's highly illogical and fallacious to believe in a self-existent, self-created universe? Do you REALLY believe (key word believe) that all that exists came from a bang? The order, the symmetry, the laws, everything...from a singularity that expanded for NO REASON at all? Can you honestly ignore the incredibly complex world you see everyday and criticize those who believe in a Creator? Even if you don't believe John 3:16..atheism is the best you can come up with?
@TomFynn And what, pray tell, is the "evidence" for such an event? Do you mean the expansion of the galaxies? That is a uniformitarianist approach to understanding the universe. There is no way of determining if it has always been expanding or at the same rate. And expansion is only evidence of...expansion! It's a big jump to say that the doppler effect indicates that everything was once a singularity. I could just as easily use expansion for proof that God "stretched out the heavens".
@liber8xion1 Unfortunately, the 2011 Nobel prize was awarded exactly for detecting a change in the expansion of the universe. The cosmic microwave background is consistent with a blackbody radiation and thus with a homogeneous universe. One in which the expansion rate must previously have undergone a phase of exponential expansion in oder to guarantee causal connection for thermalisation.
@TomFynn Great point, but that still leaves us in the same place. Theremalisation of what?...where did that initial energy come from? You can't thermalize energy that never existed. WHAT expanded? WHY did it expand? Neither constant expansion nor accelerated expansion of the universe proves that it started from a bang.

@sorawadokokara That's just it, a self-existent God is not more plausible (albeit far more logical). The difference is just that I ADMIT that my belief if religious. Athiests do not. There is either an eternal Creator who is above time and space OR energy and matter are themselves eternal and capable of producing vastly inconceivable degrees of order by accident in a way that could only be described as miraculous. Either the watch was made or it made itself.
@liber8xion1 I'm not sure how you got to that "far more logical". I agree that if we go by logic we should end up with some prime cause that is itself uncaused (although I wonder if we are right but let's just assume it). I don't think that an all-powerful conscience that was never created and more complex than the universe itself is necessarily a logical answer. If he exists outside of time logic tells us that he couldn't move, act, think of make decisions as all those things take place in time
@sorawadokokara I agree...to a degree. An uncaused cause has to be the conclusion. Otherwise nothing was caused and we just simply THINK we exist. So a Creator/Cause, as illogical as that Creator would be, is the only logical answer. For a being like that, moving, acting, and thinking would would be beyond anything we can comprehend since our experience is limited by things he is not limited by.
@liber8xion1 It's kinda like a computer program trying to figure out what its programmer looks like. How sad it would be for the program to conclude that the programmer doesn't exist and that its world is the result of a chance explosion of 1s and 0s.
@liber8xion1 If you start with logic you must end with logic. You can't at one point say "from this point on logic is optional" and still say you're being logic. All scientists agree in the big bang theory, but nobody has ever claimed to know how the big bang came to be (except theists of course). That is still object of study. I personally find the multiverse theory fascinating (after several chaotic universes, stable ones'd eventually appear) but that's just my opinion and I could be wrong
@sorawadokokara my point is not to abandon logic, but rather to recognize its limitations. A being that created time would have to have exist(ed) outside of time. But, what happened BEFORE he created time? The concepts of before, during, and after have no context outside of time. The cause that triggered the beginning of time had to be prior to time itself. At what point did the cause begin the beginning? The only logical conclusion (at least in my opinion) is illogical on its face.
I'm grateful that God is beyond the reach of my logic. If I could logically deduce all that there is to God, he wouldn't be that much of a god. I'm forced to depend on him to reveal himself for me to know him at all. A purely naturalistic approach to understanding the world will never get to the whole truth. I agree that the multiverse concept is very fascinating! Although I think that Jet Li movie ruined it for me lol. And IF there is a multi-verse...who is speaking those verses?

@liber8xion1 The problem with your position is that you fail to understand that a "naturalistic" approach to understand the world is ALL you have. Whatever you think is outside the natural world, it is just the result of a lack of understanding or knowledge of certain things that you willingly and promptly fill with something that makes you feel comfortable: a god of which you have no evidence for whatsoever.

@liber8xion1 My hope is that since you've admitted that according to you the most logical explanations is an illogical one ("illogical on its face") you'll understand why your original statement ("far more logical") prompted me to reply to you. btw I'm curious, are you a theist or a deist?
@sorawadokokara lol I definitely understand. And yes, a logic-busting Creator who caused the universe to exist is more logical than the universe causing itself. He is illogical only because no space-time bound logic can grasp him. I'm a theist actually (Christian specifically), but I do hold some beliefs you may call deist. The difference being that I believe that God not only created the proverbial watch, but that he actively participates and reveals himself in it and even showed up in person.
@liber8xion1 You sound like a nice person and your faith seems to be an important part of your life so I don't feel like discussing your faith with you unless you feel comfortable with it. I don't know who told you that the universe created itself, but that explains why you think atheists are wrong. Let's just agree to disagree ;-)
@sorawadokokara Same here...I've really enjoyed the discussion! My faith is definitely an important (if not the most important) part of my life. I don't have a problem with discussing it at all, but thank you for respecting that. The respect is mutual. We can definitely agree to disagree.
@MrRationalgaze You're right, it's not. The simplest cell is inconceivably more complex than a watch. Yet it's silly to think of a Rolex forming "gradually over billions of years"...right? And the "watch" in question was specifically a reference to deism and not my main point.
@liber8xion1 And a misogynistic, savage, jealous, cruel and inept "god" is the best you can come up with? Yes, that is a good description of at least the god of the bible (one example only). Is that the best you can come up with? seriously?
Angry with religion? Me? No.frankly it's fear that superstition is on the rise again, lapping into the corridors of power, flowing into a world that seemed just a few years ago, climbing slowly into some safe and rational place.
And now christians are burning witches again. And yearning for armageddon. And muslims are on the march again with a beheading knife in one hand and an AK47 in the other and Jews are ethnically cleansing someone else's country to the drum roll a 3000 year old book
I CHALLENGE ANY AND EVERY INTELLECTUALLY HONEST (INTELLECTUALLY HONEST) ATHEIST TO ATTEMPT TO GET A SINGLE POINT OVER ME. I AM CHRISTIAN. I ALSO STUDY THE OCCULT. I UNDERSTAND THE THINGS YOU ASSUME DONT EXIST. PM ME TO LEARN. OK. PM ME TO GIVE ME ASSUMPTION ARGUMENTS AND I WILL SLAUGHTER ANY NOTION OF AN "ARGUMENT" YOU THINK YOU HAD. I CAN PROVE GOD. AND NO IM NOT JOKING. FURTHERMORE, DONT COMMENT ON THE CAPS LOCK. ITS THERE TO GET YOUR ADHD ATTENTION SPAN. PM ME.
Oh - I would absolutely love to hear that proof of God you say you have. Does it involve pressing the caps lock to make any of your arguments twice as valid?
@SuperSam424 "I UNDERSTAND THE THINGS YOU ASSUME DONT EXIST" And you do not understand that the Caps-Lock-key thing does not get our attention. It makes you sound like a pretentious douche-bag.
Writing off my argument as trolling is not a valid argument against my position. What I wrote is my sincere opinion on the matter. The notion that atheist are more angry than others is simply not true.
I can see from your other comment just below that you are using the same condescending tone towards others as you are using against me. I do not find it constructive and I suggest you heighten your standard to the level of rational argumentation.
Atheists are constantly being attacked and labelled angry, by those within organized religion because they can't understand the frustration we feel and have trying to fight the ignorance religion propagates throughout the world.

@k7leetha We are definitely on the same page.
Christians believe that a sadomasochistic virgin male human sacrifice that's also the "all-loving" creator of the universe killed himself so that he could forgive people for imaginary crimes (like eating bacon). @uglyandbad You raise an excellent point.i could easily say the same about athiesm of course! Which religion do you refer to? i cant comment if you dont differentiate between religions ,as to lump the Amish in with Islam is wierd.
MegaFloyd100 1 week ago
@MegaFloyd100 Do not sidestep, the lady in the video provided a very good list of horrors that have been committed against people because of religion and all you could say was that she presented atheists as victims. So, again, what can you say about those horrors? And no, you cannot say the same thing about atheism because the LACK or absence of belief in a "god" does not make you do anything.
uglyandbad 1 week ago
@uglyandbad Quit repeating pc slogans & think !You seem to have missed every point i made.Again-which religion are you reffering to? Do you seriously assert that athiest regimes are blameless[ergo athiesm = world peace?]Do you have amnesia with respect to modern history? ''LACK or absence of belief in a "god" does not make you do anything.''A VERY Naive & shallow statement. No god = man is animal = has no intrinsic value.Human rights was birthed from the concept that all men r made in gods image.
MegaFloyd100 1 week ago
@MegaFloyd100 First of all, you made no points. All you said was that the lady in this video made atheists look like victims. And I responded to you by asking what you can say about all the things she mentioned where religion could be indicted, and you seem to be dodging the question. Now, if you could at least educate yourself and learn that those "atheists" regimes as you call them, did the things they did because they replaced one dogma with another one which has nothing to do with atheism.
uglyandbad 1 week ago
@uglyandbad i can only speak for christianity, but when the aforementioned atrocities are commited in the name of Jesus they are acting hypocritically AGAINST their professed belief system, however when stalin, hitler pol pot commited their crimes they were acting CONSISTENTLY within their belief system.[ie-man is little more than an animal, and other such social darwinist /eugenicist ideals.]Socialism says the state is more important than the individual, & individual rights are a ''privelage''.
MegaFloyd100 1 week ago
@MegaFloyd100 Well Jesus said something like "If you are not with me, you are against me" -a very bellicose statement already, so he is not the most optimal model of morals around. Christianity is broken from within and the atrocities committed on people because of christianity could very well find their justification in the bible. If you'd say that not to be the case, you'd be showing how little you know about the scriptures of your faith.
uglyandbad 1 week ago
@uglyandbad You seem to be saying that self proclaimed athiest regimes that do wrong are not to blame, but their ideas are.Man is indivisible from his ideas,so who takes responsibility for the resulting actions? You seem to want to have it both ways here.what do you mean?Athiesm is a religion anyway.
MegaFloyd100 1 week ago
@MegaFloyd100 No, atheism is not a religion. You either a) are ignorant of what the word atheist means or b) use this canned theist response to the fact that "atheism" exposes the problems with the theist position. Right, those regimes did what they did because of some ideas (distorted and all), not the lack of them... So you are saying something like your lack of belief in leprechauns is the reason behind some of your actions? Think about it.
uglyandbad 1 week ago
@uglyandbad In 1961, the U.S. Supreme Court acknowledged that Secular Humanism was a religion. John Dewey described Humanism as our "common faith." Julian Huxley called it "Religion without Revelation." The first Humanist Manifesto spoke openly of Humanism as a religion. Many other Humanists could be cited who have acknowledged that Humanism is a religion.
MegaFloyd100 1 week ago
@MegaFloyd100 Do you even see what you are saying? Okay, let's say that humanism is a religion. Fine. And your point is? humanism is bad because is a religion? When are you theists going to learn that your arguments are old, beaten and completely irrelevant?
uglyandbad 1 week ago
@MegaFloyd100 And also, your statement "No god = man is animal" has to be one of the most narrow minded views on humanity owed to religion. You are wrong, there are many people who do not believe in any gods and still embrace their humanity and have productive, purposeful and love-filled lives... Your "god" is not necessary for any of that, in fact it is a big obstacle in most cases. Human rights are errr, "human"? It seems to you are just saying what your religious indoctrination taught you.
uglyandbad 1 week ago
@uglyandbad It is not narrow minded but a logical extension of all darwinian theory. If man evolved from apes etc man is an animal,as modern sociology & psychology will maintain. There is no basis for objective morals, and ''societies benefit'' is the greatest good,as socialism teaches. The trouble arises when governments get to decide ''what is best for societies benefit'',& from there decide which citizens are worthy of life.Yes,I know that many athiests have better morals than religious folks.
MegaFloyd100 1 week ago
@MegaFloyd100 No problem at all with man being an animal. Objective morality surely does not originate from your god and thankfully so, because your god is really a monster (thankfully, imaginary). If you know many atheists (an I would argue for a majority) have better morals than theists, then it does not follow that you attribute the atrocities of the "atheist" regimes to atheism and not the regimes (and their ideals) themselves.
uglyandbad 1 week ago
@uglyandbad no,just as all ,genuine, christians are not responsible for the actions of organised[politicised] religion, all athiests are not responsible for the actions of ploiticised athiesm. However, you unjustly lumped all religious people in the same boat earlier, which prompted my reply.ps-If banning religion because of its potential for misuse by fanatics is your solution, then you better ban athiesm & nuclear research as well.
MegaFloyd100 1 week ago
@MegaFloyd100 I never made all christians responsible for the horrors of religion, so I don't know where you got that from. I don't want to ban religion, in fact I will fight for the right that people have to believe in whatever fantasy they want as long as such belief it is kept PRIVATE, and away from our schools, courtrooms, government and pretty much everything public of consequence. You keep making the same old mistake most theists make, which is not understanding what atheism is and isn't.
uglyandbad 1 week ago
@MegaFloyd100 Darwin doesn't say man evolved from apes.

Even if you don't believe John 3:16..atheism is the best you can come up with?
liber8xion1 2 weeks ago
@liber8xion1 Yes, we can *assume* that it all came from the Big Bang. We got the evidence. It's called science.
TomFynn 2 weeks ago
@TomFynn And what, pray tell, is the "evidence" for such an event? Do you mean the expansion of the galaxies? That is a uniformitarianist approach to understanding the universe. There is no way of determining if it has always been expanding or at the same rate. And expansion is only evidence of...expansion! It's a big jump to say that the doppler effect indicates that everything was once a singularity. I could just as easily use expansion for proof that God "stretched out the heavens".
liber8xion1 2 weeks ago
@liber8xion1 Unfortunately, the 2011 Nobel prize was awarded exactly for detecting a change in the expansion of the universe. The cosmic microwave background is consistent with a blackbody radiation and thus with a homogeneous universe. One in which the expansion rate must previously have undergone a phase of exponential expansion in oder to guarantee causal connection for thermalisation.
TomFynn 2 weeks ago
@TomFynn Great point, but that still leaves us in the same place. Theremalisation of what?...where did that initial energy come from? You can't thermalize energy that never existed. WHAT expanded? WHY did it expand? Neither constant expansion nor accelerated expansion of the universe proves that it started from a bang.

@liber8xion1 How is a self-existent god more plausible?
P.S. Atheist need not believe anything about universe, evolution or anything like that. You can be an atheist and still not believe in evolution.
sorawadokokara 2 weeks ago
@sorawadokokara That's just it, a self-existent God is not more plausible (albeit far more logical). The difference is just that I ADMIT that my belief if religious. Athiests do not. There is either an eternal Creator who is above time and space OR energy and matter are themselves eternal and capable of producing vastly inconceivable degrees of order by accident in a way that could only be described as miraculous. Either the watch was made or it made itself.
liber8xion1 2 weeks ago
@liber8xion1 I'm not sure how you got to that "far more logical". I agree that if we go by logic we should end up with some prime cause that is itself uncaused (although I wonder if we are right but let's just assume it). I don't think that an all-powerful conscience that was never created and more complex than the universe itself is necessarily a logical answer. If he exists outside of time logic tells us that he couldn't move, act, think of make decisions as all those things take place in time
sorawadokokara 1 week ago
@sorawadokokara I agree...to a degree. An uncaused cause has to be the conclusion. Otherwise nothing was caused and we just simply THINK we exist. So a Creator/Cause, as illogical as that Creator would be, is the only logical answer. For a being like that, moving, acting, and thinking would would be beyond anything we can comprehend since our experience is limited by things he is not limited by.
liber8xion1 1 week ago
@liber8xion1 It's kinda like a computer program trying to figure out what its programmer looks like. How sad it would be for the program to conclude that the programmer doesn't exist and that its world is the result of a chance explosion of 1s and 0s.
liber8xion1 1 week ago
@liber8xion1 If you start with logic you must end with logic. You can't at one point say "from this point on logic is optional" and still say you're being logic. All scientists agree in the big bang theory, but nobody has ever claimed to know how the big bang came to be (except theists of course). That is still object of study. I personally find the multiverse theory fascinating (after several chaotic universes, stable ones'd eventually appear) but that's just my opinion and I could be wrong
sorawadokokara 1 week ago
@sorawadokokara my point is not to abandon logic, but rather to recognize its limitations. A being that created time would have to have exist(ed) outside of time. But, what happened BEFORE he created time? The concepts of before, during, and after have no context outside of time. The cause that triggered the beginning of time had to be prior to time itself. At what point did the cause begin the beginning? The only logical conclusion (at least in my opinion) is illogical on its face.
liber8xion1 1 week ago

Let's just agree to disagree ;-)
sorawadokokara 1 week ago
@sorawadokokara Same here...I've really enjoyed the discussion! My faith is definitely an important (if not the most important) part of my life. I don't have a problem with discussing it at all, but thank you for respecting that. The respect is mutual. We can definitely agree to disagree.

@liber8xion1 A watch isn't a cosmological or biological system. Fallacious argument.
MrRationalgaze 1 week ago
@MrRationalgaze You're right, it's not. The simplest cell is inconceivably more complex than a watch. Yet it's silly to think of a Rolex forming "gradually over billions of years"...right? And the "watch" in question was specifically a reference to deism and not my main point.

@MegaFloyd100 thanks man. "...always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you." God bless!

@liber8xion1 'God did it', is that the best you can come up with?
MrRationalgaze 1 week ago
@MrRationalgaze Given the alternative, yes.
liber8xion 1 week ago

PM ME.

@SuperSam424

Why do Christians always confuse arguing a position in opposition with their with hostility towards them?
Is it because that in the faith based community the standard way to argue a religious position was with a rack, a spike, and a thumbscrew?
Is it because they actually realize that their beliefs aren't based on reality?
Or is it because no one like to have their stupidity or cognitive dissonance pointed out to them?
I think that we outspoken atheists are doing a necessary job.

Clever baiting, but then again, you're only baiting for hate.

In other words - stop trolling
