what he says about the kids being given things they haven't earned; that's not just in basketball but probably nearly every other walk of life as well nowadays..
One thing about Michael Jordan, dude had class for miles. Its awesome seeing Mike in interviews cuz he's so down to earth and he's a really good speaker. He rarely says anything stupid (Lebron James), vulgar (Kobe Bryant), childish (Shaq) or controversial (all of the above). Its tough to say he was cocky or pig-headed, he was just extremely competitive and thats what separates him from many other superstars who are boastful jerks from heart. I'd much rather hang-out with MJ than Kobe or Lebron
"That there had been even one Michael Jordan seemed in retrospect something of a genetic fluke, and the idea that anyone would arrive in so short a span of time and do what he did both on and off the court seemed highly unlikely." - David Halberstam (Playing for Keeps: Michael Jordan and the World He Made)
Wow, I admire this man so much. Not only as a basketball player but also for his mind set as a human being. Despite letting his competitve side take over in so many occasions during his life, he always remained thoughtful and stayed down to earth. And he is definitely right about his complaints of today's NBA. When I compare the league with the 80s and 90s, I often find myself sad. It became a league of media driven, bored players who bathe in their fans praises. It's a sad joke.
u knwo actually he got good in baseball.....this doesnt sum it up good....he stole like 30 bases......and he hit a homer i think at least once (im ont saying he didnt hit more i just dnot know) so maybe the test was if he could cut it and he did.....and i think a coach said if he stayed longer (or was it if he started younger im not sure then) maybe he could have gone to the majors
i still think he could play.. at that time. i would pick MJ over kobe! any day, any era! a micheal jordan only happens once in a lifetime i feel honered to have experienced it! MJ 4 life!
i cant believe that he, himself would actually make a mistake about how long his father was in his life. Jordan was born in 1963 and his father died in 1993. He was 30 years old when his father died. That is weird that he would say 32 years.
@lightsw0rd I have seen this question asked in other clips too I'm no shrink lol but is it possible MJ connects the 2 years chasing and swinging curveballs as the time he spent with his father as a total of 32 years instead of the actual 30 years in life he did have just a thought
@bestlives its a mental thing people tend to do it quite a bit especially with loved ones who have died MJ keeps saying 32 years which is the exact age when he left baseball to return to basketball in the ESPN 30 for 30 series a sports writer called his baseball time a connecting time for father and son, although the father is now deceased, MJ maybe sees that has having his father for 32 years instead of the actual 30, probably doesnt realize he's even doing it
@sportstalk23 I think what you are taking about is kown as Intellectualization: A mental mechanism in which the person engages in excessive abstract thinking to avoid confrontation with conflicts or disturbing feelings. Still it is strange that he would add 2 years to a lif that never existed!
Not weird if one looks at it from the window of someone you has lost a father in such a tragic situation. Others may want to memorize exact details of the passing.
While others take the opposing view. When that happens, you really DON'T WANT to remember SPECIFIC EXACT DETAILS of the situation of a father getting murdered and everything that surrounds it.
@philipislands what does that have to do with adding an additional 2 years to your life??? we are talking about the year your father was murdered and how long he was in your life!!!! it makes no sense that he would say he was 32 years old when his dad died, when he was only 30 years old!!
@bestlives I have seen this question asked in other clips too I'm no shrink lol but is it possible MJ connects the 2 years chasing and swinging curveballs as the time he spent with his father as a total of 32 years instead of the actual 30 years in life he did have just a thought
@thelilpoint even with the womb time!!! lets say 9 months, that still does not make 32 years. Jordan was born Feb 1963 and his father died the summer of 1993.....

Hahaha, Kobe Bryant #2 ???
Are you kidding me? You're obviously a child.
It is highly arguable if Bryant gets a top 10 spot.
