Hey guys i see that u use this systems mainly for Dj's, my question is if this would be useful for vocals in a rock band... loud enough? remember that drummers are noisy as hell!
Damn, I'm torn between the 1000v2 and the 2000. What would you recommend? I'm just starting off, I'll be playing for house parties, so about 40-80 guests. The dilemma is that I might (and hopefully) pick up better gigs and start playing at party halls, I'm just worried that the 1000v2 might not suffice in large areas like that
hey I'm looking for a new system for my school. its a small school, like 300 students, and we use it for mostly music, but sometimes make announcements through a microphone. in your opinion, do you think either of these (the 1000 or 2000) would be suited for this?
Hey Dj Josh have to say you inspired my to go out and grab the matrix 2000 and I love it! One question though? I am doing a gig much larger than 500 people I want to use some back up powered Mackies. Can I come out of the XLR outs of the sub to those and be ok? (since they are powered.) And do I come out of my mixer output 1 and run into 2 XLR ins? Thanks hope this makes sense.
Hey man, good vid, i would like to know if this b52 sistem works only for DJ, putting a CD on your computer and just press play or it also works to plug muy group on it, i mean, acoustic and electric guitar, bass guiatar vocals, keyboards and my drumset? does it really works or i need to look for another sistem? thanks
Your advice lead to me buying the 1000 vs system in your first review. I'm yet to start doing gigs with it but you're right about the weight. The clarity and quality of the system is spot on...great sound and easy setup. Looking to upgrade to the 2000 but hopefully i"ll have someone helping me then. Might need a bigger vehicle though...
@jeevesishere The Matrix 2000 is a 1200watt 12" speaker and 18" subwoofer system, while the 1000v2 is just an upgraded 1000 with some small small small changes. Still a 700w 10" speaker and 15" subwoofer system.
great info and your on the money the 1000 and maybe even the 2000 cant be beat on the famous bang for the buck, i wish i could dj with a set up like that, my customers really like my system and dont mind paying the cost...great video keep up dj josh...
Hey Josh, It's better to keep the levels on your system all the way up and control it with the mixer, when you keep the levels down it makes the amp work harder and sends out more distorted sound to the speaker which overheats the coil in the sub and will cause catostrophic failure.
Nice review Josh...I just picked up the 2000 a couple weeks ago when we bought out a karaoke system. I still think I'll stick mainly with my JBL's, but that sub does have some amazing kick
well for thoe price it seems relatively straight forward, just seems kinda suckish to haul and not very powerful, but id buy a set just for backups or somethin, JBLs still the tops tho. haha my 15s weigh less then your 12s, mine are like 37lbs.. looks good tho, nice upgrade in watage, substantial volume difference ya?
Nice, Im jsut starting out, we have 2 Peavey SP 2G cabinets, like 70 pounds each and HUGE, 15inch black widow mids. 1200 watt peaks and a CS-800 Amp.
We use a Sonic Maximizer, its a sound processor it is amazing, makes the sound so clear and deep, also clarify s and tightens the bass.
About the sub being dependent on the channel, that kind of makes since kind of not, because if theirs no input, theirs no bass to be turned up, but its not like you can have a bass input :/
i used to have that excact same system! The SPs sound pretty good, theyre not quite 1200 tho, i had just the standard SP2s, they were hella old and did like 200 wats peak, but damn those sounded nice, i like my JBLs better now tho, those CS-800s are ok too. average make.
There's always a way to setup a system so theres a bass volume control,
now i run from my mixing board into a Virtulizer Pro, to a FBQ 3102 Eq, then to biema Q250 amp for tops, from the FBQ i also run into a Dualfex, Then to a Ep1500 for the subwoofer, now L volume controls tops, and R volume controls the sub. even tho it goes through 3 processors for the sub and 2 for the tops i can still have dedicated chanels because each unit runs a L and a R audio signel
great vid love your videos i had the same problem with my matrix 1000 where the sub sounded like it pop when the bass was loud lucky me B 52 is located two blocks from me and replace the speaker no questions ask..i got the system cause of you and i love my matrix 1000 no other dj system can compare in the same price range i battle a dj at a party who had jbl's and some peaveys and i was still the loudest ..can't go wrong with this unit.......Mrdjchompiras
There are amps, but like you said they're built in. Only a 10 1/2 shoe OH SNAP! lol
I love your new setup... My only beef is that everything is powered, so if your subs take a shit power wise, your tops will die too. But, you've got 2 sets now, so you'll always have back up just in case the stars a line and all hell breaks loose!!! LOL
haha I hear you, I used to help a company do load in when I was in highschool, they had a dual 18'' sub with another dual 18'' sub on top then two 15'' tops. Then the same on the other side... If you ask me it was a little excessive for a school dance with under 250 kids haha.
LOL, the biggest i had to setup was for a Jazz festival in a park, 2 stages either on the outside we had 2x dual 18" subs side by side on scafolding then 3x JBL line array speakers, then between stages another 2x dual 18" subs and 2x dual 15" tops on the ground for centre fill.we worked out FOH power was 48.000W RMS and we had XTI4000 amps and they weren't even registering -20db signel, we didn't even have it turned up :P and you could hear it 5 blocks away. lol
the only thing that sucks about b52 matrix is sometimes you get small parties and you have to lug around that sub everywhere. but that b52 sub has nothing on my yorkville :)
Nice and simple set up, the only problem with these systems is that if your amp goes out you are screwed haha But it looks like its a perfect match for you i doubt you will have any problems. Thanks for the vid! Good comparison and review nicely done.
Oh and yeah, the 2000 is literally unmovable up steps by yourself. I can handle the 1000 (i'm a little bigger than you) but the 2000 is crazy. I actually built a little sled for it with some rope and now i can get it pretty much anywhere! It's a little sad looking but it works great.

i got one question. i have a numark mixer that has only rca jacks as an outport. would this be compatible for me?
xkenlosx 10 months ago
@xkenlosx Yes, you would just need a RCA to XLR adapter or RCA to 1/4" to XLR conversion. The B-52 ONLY takes XLR
djjosh16511 10 months ago
@djjosh16511 thanks alot brother im definitely going to look into getting this system.
xkenlosx 9 months ago
@xkenlosx I would also add a BBE sonic maximizer and a pre amp coming out of your Numark mixer.

The 2000's definatly have lower bass on the highs and mids... which is good. the 1000's have high high's, and not as low low's

Nice vid! I'm considering buying the B-52 2000's for small to medium sized venues. But you said you could probably find a better setup for that cost.
What would you recommend instead? Cause im this close of buying the 2000's. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks in advance
