The Z is maybe .1 to .2 faster... and you're talking shit about the SRT-4 being slow. It's just as fast as yours! STFU!

  • @thechaser1985 ...the difference, of course, being that I was in an automatic Volvo station wagon with a wet curb weight of 3,700+ lbs, on 91 octane, and 14psi and a 298,000 mile engine. Not something worshipped by domestic ricers.And a 6-lane wide street which was empty and didn't have people's front doors facing it. My car still trounces on any SRT4 Stage 2 or under which is pretty sad for the Neon (and hangs with most SRT8's). And I'm not racing in neighborhoods. ;)

  • @850wagonT5 Your 1st excuse is that you were in an auto? Can't make a mistake with an auto, you can with a manual. Your 2nd excuse is your 3,900 lb weight. Yes, that's 800 lbs more than the SRT-4, but you have much more horsepower. Your next excuses are gas and PSI? I'm sure the SRT-4 in this video is also running 91 octane and a stock SRT-4 boosts at 14.5 lbs. A whopping .5 more PSI than yours. The street? This video shows a 6 lane road WITH a median. Your video looks just as dangerous.

Looking at your video and seeing you lose to a stock 350Z, you would NOT "trounce a stage 2 SRT-4", you would lose and probably tie a stock SRT-4. If an SRT-4 is not "fast", then neither is your soccer mom, grocery getter. Stop making idiotic comments on videos of cars that are just as fast, if not faster... than your UGLY old wagon.

  • @850wagonT5 Not the area where you ran, but we can't see behind you and there was much more traffic than in this video, so stop being a hypocrite. SRT-4's can manage a 13.8 with the right weather and driver. Car and driver ran it in a 13.8 and there are numerous guys on the SRT forums that have run under 14 in a stock SRT-4.

  • @thechaser1985 Want to talk cost compared to power? 79 camaro, 3-4k. stroked/cammed 383 from summit racing, 3k. For 7k you now have a 420hp-440tq car that will stomp on all the rice it can find.

  • @ford4point0 Nope i haven't. Go look up summit racing. 383 crate motors. Blueprint engines. And you'll find " Long Block, Crate Engine, Chevy 383, 6.3L, 420 hp./450 ft/lbs., 4-Bolt Main : $3,195.00. And if you want the completely dressed up verison of the engine its $3995.

  • @acekazel lol a half decent 383 isnt gonna be anywhere near cheap. Those "kits" use cheap parts and theyre missing so many things that its easily gonna add up to over $5k. Yeah you can just buy the engine and use leftover parts from the car to finish it up, but youre gonna get smoked by the first car that comes along with a proper setup. And theirs will probably last longer too.

  • @ford4point0 FYI blueprint engines is a well known manufacture, not cheap parts. 2nd I'm simply stating a face, he's bragging his car 5 years newer and less money can beat a new camaro. But when i simply stated a 25 year older car can beat him for cheaper we are talking a whole different thing now that he's on the other side of it. End of story thats my point.

  • @acekazel where to begin? ..pos crank, non-forged pistons, no intake manifold, pcm, wiring harness, distributer or h2o pump included, valve diameter is the almost the same as a stock ls1, non hydraulic cam (with no specs whatsoever), "chevy heavy-beam rods" (wtf is that?) sounds like some h-beam knock-offs. no rod bolts or bearings info

    I undestand your point, but buying a 383 with no idea on what youre gonna get, is NOT the answer. As i said, youre better off building something on your own.

  • @ford4point0 A fully built forged 383 is $3,700 through Summit all day. That's a 500 hp Long block. And trust me, they don't break that easy.

  • @acekazel 420hp at the flywheel, pump that through a TH350 you're looking at 310-320hp at the rear wheels, you'll be looking at low 13's in the 1/4 if your gears are right, and the heavy ass Summit Rotating assembly can wing 6000-7000 rpms without coming apart, then all those old 79 Camaro parts that start busting when it gets 200 more HP than stock thrown at it. Then you'll get 12 mpg if you don't travel more than 60 mph. Costs money either way to go fast.

I'm not knocking muscle either, I'd love to have a Fox body or late 80's T/A, fact of the matter is though, Supercharged SS Cobalts can be snatched up under $10K any day of the week and still go another 100k miles. Where as you can build a 79 Camaro, probably spend closer to $8-8500, and it won't make it 100K without major expenses along the way.

  • @thechaser1985 Spending thousands more is more so for the drastic improvement in the vehicle's appearance rather than speed. The difference in speed between cars at $17k-30k isn't drastic. You neon owners are so embarassed by your car's name you only refer to it by trim level FFS. At the end of the day, you're still driving around a cramped, ugly dodge neon. BTW- 20 inch staggered torque thrusts are muscle, not ghetto, and they keep my back end from breaking loose in 3rd gear, sup.

  • bad clutch? a bad clutch would make a shitty start and shifting but as far as accelerating and STILL loosing? I don't think a clutch has anything to do with that. a bad tranny maybe? well then you shouldn't be racing :D and why do you have your turbo tuned to less than atmospheric pressure? seems like you're creating a vacuum more than forcing air in.

  • @standish250 Nothing wrong with the running gears. Bad start is due to turbo lag. I had an SRT. It takes a minute for the boost  to get there.

  • @standish250 are u serious man? u obviously dont know much about cars or pressure ... so maybe u should just watch videos instead of chipping in ur half a cent... or maybe do a little research if ur interested in something then post something so u dont look soo amature boost gauges read 0 when a car is turned off not 14.7 so 11psig is not a vacuum it would be 25.7psia at sea level....

  • @standish250 The psi that car is rated at is 11 psi MORE than atmospheric pressure (14.7 psi). Seriously, think about it. You hear about big-turbo applications making 500+ horse on supras while tuned to 7-8 psi. If you measured the psi of a turboed/supercharged car WITHOUT taking atmospheric pressure into account, the boost gauge would say 14.7 with the car turned off. Get educated before trying to speak your mind to a bunch of car enthusiasts...

Maybe you can clarify how "WITHOUT" taking psia into account you get 14.7 psig? Seems to me, to read atmospheric pressure you would HAVE to take it into account?
