  • "I'm not waking up each morning with forgiveness I can use, no I'm careless and i'm cruel but I'm still easily bruised ..."

Beauty! Jim Cuddy is The Best Canadian Lyricist since Gordon Lightfoot!!

  • Such a beautiful song.

My mom has passed their music to me when I was about 10 and I've loved Blue Rodeo since.

  • I'm an emotional wreck

  • @detrikl i hope you've found a way cope. its hard as hell, i know. trust me when i say i'm feelin the same way. just remember that when your feelin down you 'tend to forget the people that love you, and the sorrow makes you feel selfish in the fact that no one would care that your gone and you just wanna end the pain, but they would care, a great deal...

  • I have listend to Blue Rodeo for years. I will not disparige anything they have done. but Bulletproof is my MOST Favorite!! It comes so close to your heart, that you have too listen!!

  • Jim Cuddy truly has one of the greatest voices in Canada (along with Burton Cummings) and if you ever have a chance to meet him, you'll not only see where all that talent resides but also what a warm human being he is. End of story.

  • my favorite song!!

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever. Hands down

  • another awesome video....10 people think they are bulletproof..10 people are wrong.K

  • He's a human being...and he speaks to all of us with the songs...music is universal.K

  • ReikuHidori, Thank ou for saying this....K

  • He looks like he loves to sing too. They are a great band!!!

  • wonderful musicians, great song, awesome post :)

  • I am haunted by Jim's voice...he weighs on your mind once you hear him sing a song...you can't help BUT to fall in love with him...and he's all Canadian...good for us.

  • I didn't know this song until someone made me listen to it...:(

  • love blue rodeo, big fan for life.

  • The music isn't Canadian....it is from an egoless place...from the soul...from sincerity...from the gut. That is what makes it universal....Everyone of us share that depth of feeling from time to time....It is our heart that is longing to be felt. I am so grateful for those musicians and singers on this planet who can penetrate to such depth of feeling.

  • @Chidanandaji and CANADIAN!!!!

  • @Chidanandaji Wow That is a discription that transends acruacity

  • @dad3pcs I got a chuckle out of that comment of yours.

  • @Chidanandaji

    ya... but they're still Canadian.

  • @BigmapleBand How about 'world citizens'. Would that work for you? LOL

  • @Chidanandaji - This "egoless' place you mention that is in "the soul"...is Canada my little friend.

  • Yeah this song is absolutely amazing I get it but it shouldn't have anything to do with where they come from. It has no bearing on anything whatsoever.

  • IN YOUR MIND by andrew gerbasi have a listen. I know he's a BR fan.

  • this guy is the closest thing to a male Karen Carpenter i've ever heard they're a much better band when he sings. Just discovered them today on a Scud Mountain Boys mix! and to carry on the comparisons are they kinda like the Canadian Crowded House? I'm yet to find a song I don't like by them.

  • my friends mom cried because she talked to jim cuddy :')

  • Feels so True an no, no one is bullet proof ,, Love LOVE Love

I'm finding theses song a great empowerment tool

    awesome for work shop presentations.

Canadians want healing and most of all WORLD PEACE.

  • @barbararogers40

I pray for world peace..and it all seems to be getting worse..sorry, it's Monday..another week of bad news here. Kate

  • Beautiful - every bit

  • I am sitting here in Punta Cana (da), and for those who do not understand this band...well you obviously like the pop cultue crap that i am watching on VH1 while listening online to a classic song. This band did an album called "Better off as we are"...all about the big giants to the south not understanding what we Canadians have known all along...great band...lyrics beyond the average American.

Definately not destined to open a NASCAR race...but hey...your loss!

  • CANADA!

  • Perfect <3

  • I love Jim's voice and I can't believe I missed him at the Filberg Festival here in Comox, BC :(

  • @glacierview I can't believe I have missed them in concert for 21 or more years...Kate

  • this has an AMAZING melody...and the 8 people who disliked this video are FUCKKKEDDD in the head

  • @RiseOfTheFool They obviously think they are bulletproof and don't understand the song at all :) :P

  • It's simply beautiful...beautiful voice, song and band...

  • Saw Blue Rodeo last night. They were great as always. Disappointed Jim didn't sing this one, it's so beautiful - but the show was amazing anyway!

  • @ScotiaGirl353 I saw that concert, too! What a show ... Blue Rodeo just seems to get better and better! :)

  • I could listen to Jim Cuddy sing all day long.

  • I could listen to Jim Cuddy sing all day long.

  • that jim cuddy is one sexy bitch;)

  • For you Mumsy !!!

  • i'm surprised that these guys didn't become more popular in the states. Damned these guys are good !!

  • Great song.

  • I remember hearing this song very off in a distance, outside of harbor front in toronto through a busy summer day. Everything around me was moving so slow then I started looking out onto the lake, I swear I felt there was no one around me in the crowd. My girl friend ask me whats up? It broke me out of the trance, I swear it was like a movie moment.

  • @XxXUNDERSC0REXxX

That is why we love our city and love our Blue Rodeo, almost give you goosebumps EH? Glad we could enchant you!

  • Great song!

  • I saw them in "Barrie, loved the show but, i too wished they sang this song..love it!!

  • I love this song. I saw them last night and it was amazing. I just wish they had played this song.

  • just heard about thisband from my sister in canada. pity she kept them a secret for twenty years. the tracks we've heard so far are incredible

  • I was glad though that they played Try!!!! Jim even hit an ending note higher than he does on the album recording....incredible.

  • I saw them last night at Massey Hall and was extremely pleased; they were amazing. What entertainers and so intimate. I wish they had performed this song :-(, but the songs they did perform were fantastic.

  • Saw them last night in St.John's. Great show. Didn't play this song unfortunately. Played a lot of new stuff. Still a great show nevertheless.

  • Saw this band at the Horseshoe in Toronto back in 1985, still great!!!!

  • Loveeee this song! Great lyrics! Thanks for the posting!

  • I love them, and especially this song. and I saw them live so many times! "Now the moon lights up your face, and I can see your crying." -Awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • I love this song...it should have been on their greatest hits album,

  • Greatest band ever, shut down comments now.

  • @dalemo8

that's arguable but I have to say that they are amazing

  • buddy needs to learn about the band before saying anything they are not from toronto theyre from elora...

  • why is people clicking on people as spam when they say i love this song, that's retarded.

Anyway Blue rodeo is amzing imo . I used to work for the guy that produced some of there albums 10 years or so ago. cheers

  • @buddyleemcfarlane That was happening to me all the time when I first joined you tube...flagged and spammed. They seem to have lightened uo a bit..And my comments were ususally nice..I was really confused over it! Kate

  • Brings you back to reality, no one is invincible, were just humain beings.

  • Love this song :)

  • "Oh I'm careless, and I'm cruel, but I'm still easily bruised" Sometimes that me...and yes..I'm not bulletproof.

  • I used to think that I was bulletproof but I found out that even I can be hurt by others. Now I am so guarded about who I let into my space, I only let a few people get to know me. I guess what I doing is safer for me, if I don't let anyone in I... won't get hurt. I'm in self preservation mode, sometimes it's really quite difficult.

  • No one is bullet proof, if they are, they aren't living. It's like the old saying, better to have loved and lost then not have loved at all.

  • So sad and beautiful. It could have been on "Revolver".

  • I can always fall back on Blue Rodeo, they have been part of the soundrack of my life. Happy, or, sad!

  • Jim Cuddy has the most perfect and beautiful voice of any singer! Have had the great pleasure of meeting him on a couple of instances, truly a Canadian treasure!

  • Chris Ches,, for you sweety! i miss you dearly.. xooxoxoxo

  • Great song!!!

  • To think that bands like U2 and Bono become famous in the USA with 2-3 hits which really aren't that good to begin with; is sickening ! If you get the air time..you will or won't make it. Stupid US radio station should look north of the border for true talent such as Blue Rodeo. Ten times better than most bands from the states that make it big.

  • When I lived in Detroit in the mid 90's, I often enjoyed the Canadian music drifting across the border from Windsor. I enjoyed listening to Charlie Major, Blue Rodeo, Prairie Oyster, etc. and wondered why they were not on US radio. Then one day I found something on the net indicating the US and Canadian recording industry orgs got into some sort of fight. That may explain the lack of commercial success by Canadian artist in the US.

  • That's the way it always goes. It helps us keep our idendity though, so I don't mind.

  • blue rodeo especially jim cuddy highly highly underrated

  • Jim Cuddy is a Canadian national treasure.

  • Jim Cuddy is the most humble musician I've ever had the pleasure to meet. And this is an amazing song

  • one of the greatest voices i say

  • @mutman19

There are artists out there making music like this and yet Lady Gaga is the famous one...

  • @AlexandraHutchko oh gawd....lady gaga makes me want to put my head in my hands and cry...I just don't get most of the music here...in the U.S.....all appologies...Kate

  • @mutman19 the best canadian rockers

  • @whenyourethisbig - amazing with a capital A

  • must be hard to make this video.

  • Absolutely perfect. I love this song.

  • this is my friend sam's dad

  • @schickman123 Lucky you and lucky Sam. I bet he is an awesome dad...K

  • this is the canadian feel and dont forget it

  • Used to go to Collingwood Ontario to see Blue Rodeo when I was a teenager.

Loved um then.....Love um more now!

  • one of my all time favourite songs ever

  • they have an amazing concert

  • Watching Blue Rodeo makes me wish I was Canadian!!!

  • Aww... we'll take you! But to be a true Canadian you have to know how to make love in a canoe ;)

  • Then I am going to start claiming true Canadian citizenship from now on. I have made love in a canoe before....really. I became a big fan of Blue Rodeo during the two years I lived in Vancouver. I miss those days so much.

  • lol making love in a canoe is impossible.

  • That is true only if the canoe is in the water or if the canoe is not attached to a dock.

  • also...you need to be able to play hockey....lol

  • Haha! That would actually delete both my Canadian and Finnish citizenship. I don't play hockey, oops... Does it count that I'm madly in love with Steve Yzerman?

  • if you love Stevie Y your in!...lol

  • WOOHOO!

  • this is the best song so truthful of peoples emotions

  • My fave Blue rodeo song :)

  • Very poignant lyrics.

  • Luv this video!

  • Its so creepy that part of this video was filmed in my friends back yard... and her horses are in the video.. Thanks for the video. My favourite!

  • I am going to see them in Peterborough on May 5th for the first time!!

  • You'll enjoy it. I actually met him and yacked at him. He is really down to earth and very nice.

  • I agree... They all are very down to earth. They have mini concerts in their backyard.

  • Jim doesn't even have to try, his voice just comes out naturally, I am still listening over and over

  • I totally agree. He's a natural. He's also very nice and very pleasant. He say's thanks alot.I told him I loved his music,he said "oh thanks"

  • The best of the best from BR..Love this one!!

  • Jim cuddy you did again made me cry but the other song you play is my number one fav of yours will always be "Two Many Hands"...

  • speacless in a good way

  • This song is so beautiful and Jim is rock

  • beautiful song <33

  • check out the REX GOUDIE version on this song..it is amazing !

  • rex goudie doesnt have anything on Jim Cuddys amazing vocals

  • umm well..i didnt say he did. Jim does have amazing vocals, and i really like him singing this song. I just like rex verion alot beter better , but thats my opninion.

  • I agree!

Rex's version is awesome!! I cried when he sang it on Canadian Idol 'cause I thought it was so beautiful and he is such a hottie too! Lmao.

  • hello, my sister is in canada,so lang..i miss herr almost for 20 years. she send me the cd from blue rodeo, and i falling in love!!

sorry , my english is not that good, i,m a dutch woman.

i love to see my sister and blue rodeo.

    love you all.xx carla

  • I think that forgiveness line meant that nothing anyone says can change who he is and any forgivness wont justify his past

  • Thanks! Both interpretations really helped!

  • I really think blue rodeo should try playing some blues...they would sound good.

I love this song. the only line i don't understand is "But I'm not waking up each morning with forgiveness I can use". i was hoping you guys could help me understand.

I'm such a freak, i analyze songs. Wow.

  • I think that you need to listen to it along with the following line "I'm careless and I'm cruel but I'm still easily bruised." It's a direct contrast from a line at the beginning of the song when he says "We're so scared of the silence and the tricks that we use. Oh, we're careful and we're cunning, but we're easily bruised." To me the song is about two people who act all tough and macho and carefree as a front, but they each seem to be the only ones who can really understand each other.

  • More specifically, the "forgiveness" line is his way of saying "Hey I know I did some crappy things along the way, and I am not looking for anyone to say it was okay. I don't care what anyone else thinks, but it kills me when you of all people think negatively about me." Just my interpretation.

  • I think he is talking about being hurt tho he is a tuff man and does not what anybody to know he gets hurt! He is the one who does the hurting (verbally) and as a tuff manly man he does not have an easy time saying sorry! So that is why he says he is not waking up each morning with forgiveness he can use. That's what I think anyway! JACK

  • Beautiful!! Jim can put his boots under my bed anytime, Sigh...............

  • ...

  • ...This song will always remind me of the late Paul Hester. Just before the news of his death, I had seen some video footage of him, and wouldn't you know it, he was wearing a Blue Rodeo t-shirt...heard this song about the same time...the two will be forever connected in my mind...RIP, Paul.........

  • one of Canadians hidden gems, bar none, like The Band. Musicians musicians for sure.

  • How come this band isn't bigger ! Jim Cuddy has an amazing voice and his band has great music !

Eagles have met their match in my opinion !

  • The eaglets are lucky they never had to compete head-to-head and song to song-to-song with these guys...no dis to the Eagles but ...Rodeo is just breaking Stateside and still relatively young!!

  • Wow, I'm really surprised about this ! This group is amazing ! I hope someday Blue Rodeo makes it big in the U.S.. They deserve it !

  • No one can belt out a ballad like Jim Cuddy.

  • I CAN. :)

  • really who are u related who?

  • blue rodeo is my cousin

  • greg keelor is my uncle :P

  • Bazil Donovan is my cousin :P

  • One of the greatest songs ever written....

  • Jim Cuddy has one of the best voices...

  • this song makes me feel. i love it!

  • I HEART! I heart this so much, the guitar, the voice, the whole damn thing, I HEART IT!

  • any blue rodeo fans that can sing cuddy or keeler "i do both" and i play all guitar, in Toronto, i'm looking to jam!! i'll check back
