In ICC testing during the champions trophy in england 99% of all bowlers had bent arms while delivering. McGrath 14, Lee 12 Gillespie 10. Murali had 9 which was over the 5 degree rule they had for spinners. The only bowler in the test to have 0 was Ramnaresh Sarwan. Now tell me. How does that make the rule change FOR murali? Gilchrist is entitled to his view, but he's plainly wrong. Murali is just a physical freak and does not chuck. In actual fact if u watch many fast bowlers, (Shoib Akhtar, Brett Lee & Bratt Tait) they seem to chuck it, but Murali is just brilliant.

How about testing Murali during an actual test match. Anyone can alter their action slightly when being put in a clinic and told your being tested for chucking.

Did you watch the video? Mark Nicholas saw the optical illusion in full effect, when Murali wore a brace for channel4 it still looked like he was chucking, the brace made it impossible for the elbow to straighten. So YEAH it does get silly when you guys ignore fact and science. The illusion factor was also proven by Western Australia's finest bio mechanics experts, so YEAH it does get silly when you claim your own scientist are lying to you to keep lil ol' murali in the game.

If the speed of the ball and the amount of turn is the same (or similar to match data) how can you argue that the action is changed? If your still a sceptic then you need to take a good look at yourself and think twice whether your giving this murali bloke a fair go. In testing McGrath and Gillespie had arms bent as much as 13-14 degrees. See cricinfo article called 99% bowlers chuck. So if your suggesting on field tests then don't just point the finger at murali.

@Costo08 His entire arm is fucked up that's the whole point (well both his arms). Its a rare but known condition, and the current supposition is that the shoulders and wrists become flexible to compensate for the limitation of the elbow. His connecting tendon structures would actually be weaker than an average person, and while that's an advantage to bowling, in general its not a good thing. As for the optical illusion, the kink in his action was still there when he was bowling with a brace.

Yardley has been a commentator and coach of Murali's, Slater faced him in matches. They verified nothing was different!
