  • Hi, love your hair but I have a question about upkeep. Did you exercise with hairstyle in? How did you do so while keeping your braids from showing like in the back and stuff? I work out and dance a lot and I'm always worried that in this style if I bend them everyone will see my real hair. Thanks in advance for answering this!

  • Girl this looks GOOD!!!

  • This is the best look by far!

  • *******+++++++++

Sorry, you answered my question at the end of the vid. You are going to take down the hair and DEEP CONDITION. boooyahhhh!!!

    lol

  • ++++*****++++ I luv this more than you, I forgot about crochet braids..... it's on now. Good winter protective style....

HOW DO YOU DEEP CONDITON IN CROCHET, need tips........

    Im excited......

  • Love your hair! One question: can I achieve this style by starting with two strand flat twists as my base? I can't cornrow to save my life, LOL

  • Hello! when U did your crochet braid style.. did you start your braids back a bit from the hairline? I want to try this technique but I am concern about how it will look in the front. Thanks for your input..

  • As always you look so beautiful. Do you have a video on this hair install

  • What do you do for upkeep? I may try this!

  • diva you look great so natural looking

  • Loves it!!!

  • Hi, Thanks for sharing this info...However, I live in College Park Ga, cannot find a braider who knows how to do this on a professional level. I shared the video with a girl, and she attempted to do the style, but it did not come out like yours. Can you suggest a stylist in the Atl area. Also, where can I purchase the Rastifri hair.

    Thanks

    Setta

    Mosetta.thomas@yahoo.com

  • @Mosetta100 I also live in ATL. Mosetta100, did you find a stylist?

  • @brittdione ~Happy Holidays! No I have not located one as of yet. Are you close to College Park?

  • Gorgeous..

  • Hello I have been searching the bes that I can trying to find and purchase this Rasa Afri malibu curl and I can't find it anywhere can you please tell me where and who sells this hair thank you.

  • yur hair is awesome.

  • @rungirl05 Thank you. I love crochet braids

  • How did you do your eye makeup here?

  • I am in love w/ this style. I am challenging myself to do protective styles until my first nappiversary (7/24/11). I gotta ask. You said crochet right?? I would have never thought about doing this style. I will have to try this ASAP. By any chance did you do a tutorial for this?? I looked but couldn't find one. I used to do crochet styles a LONG time ago but I would love to see how you do it!!

  • Your hair looks really good!! :)

  • I had no idea you were wearing weave. It looks really natural, and its really pretty on you.

  • @l0v346 thanks

  • @l0v346 yeahhhhh im mad its a weave. =( im thinking about going natural and i thought it was hers.

  • ugh this is the style I wanted but i was talked into Indian Blah. I paid way too much. Not again.

  • @kekedj214 Indian hair .. wooo I know you paid a lot oh well, there is always next time

  • thanks so much for your response. Ive been on the bear fruits site, and would like to order some products - im interested in making my own products, but have now clue where to start - any advice?

I will also send an email.

    Thanks :o)

  • Looks good!

  • hey lady, i love your videos, just wondered can you wash your hair whle its in this style ?and how do you moisturise while its in?

...also do you use the wetting of the hair tecnique to moisturise your hair then seal with oil? Hope you dont mind all my questions...as you can see from my vids im so new to all of this and just trying out new things all the time, hope to hear from you soon. Im in the UK, so its hard to find advice over her on natural hair care

    Thanks

    Tashara :o)

  • @Tasharasvids If I wet my hair while its in a protective style, I shampoo and condition as normal, and apply my leave in and oil , and tie down for reduction of frizz. Nothing different, just less tangles

    ~keep it real

  • @Tasharasvids Now with this style, I just misted my hair with a water, glycerin, oil mist, I didn't wash regularly. I cleansed my scap with Seabreeze

  • this is cute!

  • @Honeibfly thank you. :o)

  • @AFRICANEXPORT with all these comments you get and views...never expected a thank u but I do adore your channel! keep it up!

  • @Honeibfly I try my best to comment back . Thank you for taking the time out to let me know you enjoy the channel. Means a lot to me. Be well

    ~keep it real

  • I love the look, you go girl!

  • @aloada100 Thank you, this is an awesome protective style.

    ~keep it real

  • i wanna try this on my daughters hair but concerned about the removal process,,,,how does that work did u cut the hair free or just unbraid your hair and they slide loose

  • @MrsPhilly225 I CUT OFF MOST OF THE EXCESS EXTENSION HAIR, THEN UNBRAID THE CORNROWS. THE EXTENSIONS JUST FALL OUT. YOU CAN USE CONDITIONER TOO.

  • @AFRICANEXPORT ok thanks looks like i have a project for next weekend lol love the look and this will be a great protective style for her natural hair mine too as soon as my bc grows out enough to braid lol

  • your makeup looks sooooo fierce here!

  • @LMOND07 THANK YOU VERY MUCH

  • Thank you so much for this video. I recently crochet braided my hair and tried this hair on myself and everyone loves it. Mixing 2 types of hair also gives it a more authentic look. Thanks for that tip!

  • hey can you do this style as a sewn-in and get the same effect? my kitchen stylist does not know how to do crochet.

  • @labella457 im sure you can :O)

  • I'm not sure if you mentioned this already, but how many packs did you use?

  • @AFRICANEXPORT I didnt realize you has weave in until you mention. It looks so natural. Im use to wearing str8 hair because people r usualy brain wash into thinking the str8ter and softer your hair the better. Now that i see u rocking this style, im going str8 for the natural look. Also i dnt know if u can ansa this ? on kim's channel, she showed us how to make the conditioner. i used the shea nd coco butter but my cond is watery. ive measured everything correct but is it ok if its watery?

  • your hair look great. I tried to use that type of weave to crochet some weave in. It looked bad..lol It kept frizzing up & get tangled with the other weave.. Maybe I may try it again.

    Great Job!

  • are you able to wash your hair with this style without too much fuss?

  • Your hair looks awesome and than you for sharing what kind of hair you are using

  • You and your hair is just too cute!! Do you cut the hair in half and then put it in? i use a brand called MYSTIKAL by EVER in deep pony.It lasts me a good 2 1/2 months, even thru lightly washing my scalp 1 to2x a month, and the curl is a little looser.(i'm transitioning:) How long do you leave yours in? I was'nt sure if i should buy that type of curl if i cant leave it in that long w/out it looking beat down!

  • girl I cant find that hair any where (Rastafri Malibu Curl)

  • ur really really really beautiful

  • I am totally loving this and I need a great protective style without going to the straight hair!

  • I live in northeast fl and I've been searching for that brand and curl and the beauty supplies have never heard of that brand is there any other sources of finding that hair. Is there another brand than is similar if not the same as the Rastafri malibu curl... Love da feedback thanks

  • Looks like you're in Calfornia too. Can you give me the name of your beauty supply. If it's too far, at least I can call to order if they still have it. Clair hair.com doesn't even have the Rastafri Malibu Curl. So, I assume the Rastafri really is 'Malibu Curl' and not the 'Malibu Braid'? Thanks for the quick reply AfricanExport. I am lovin' your channel!!!

  • @nonijuicing star beauty supply is oakland at Eastmont mall

  • Your hair choices are excellent. But here in Los Angeles, the Free Tress Water Wave will have to be ordered. The Rastafri in the Malibu Curl just doesn't exist ... even online. But I have been able to locate the Malibu Braid? Also where can I get the beading tool online. Thanks so much for your input...excellent!!!!!!!!!

  • @nonijuicing i found it at my beauty supply

  • You look just like Dawn Lewis from Hanging With Mr Cooper and A Different World (Jalesa Vincent). Love this style. It looks so natural and beautiful :)

  • You look so much like Whitney in this video. When Whitney was at her best.

  • @brokennotfixed i was thinking the same exact thing!

  • it looks so natural. i thought it was a braid out lol. very pretty

  • You could be Venus Williams' twin!

  • I wish there was weave hair in your natural texture. I saw a girl on Tyra who had an afro-type weave. So, I went around to all the little Asian shops that sell hair and ask if they had afro-textured hair and ask if they could order it. They thought I was joking. I think if more of us ask for this hair and stop buying the bone straight Japanese-looking hair we might see more diversity and weaves in 4a/4b textures. My own hair is 3b/3c but sometimes I want to wear 4a/4b.

  • u look like venus williams

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • your hair is sooooooooooo cute :)

  • Cute! How many packs of each?

  • Very Nice!!

  • I finally did crochet braids on my own (sort of) and they turned out well. I had the cornrows put in (since I cannot cornrow) and the install took me 5.5 hours. I plan to keep them in for 8 weeks. Thanks for the inspriation to try this on my own.

  • I love your videos....You wear the hair girl ..God bless and keep up the good work! OMG love the hair !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I absolutely adore this style and it looks really good on you! Now...ahem, I need to recreate the style on my head STAT. I'm going for a bit more natural (kinky) look. Is the Rastafri kinkier than the Freetress? Where can I find either of these for cheap?

Thanks for your help and your informative posts!

  • @Lespoir07 Rastafri is neither kinkier or cheaper, I found mine at my local beauty supply, but you can check online. I never have bought hair only, but its worth a try. Happy hair shopping, I am sure it will turn out fab. This is a super easy hairstyle

    ~keep it real

  • Have you experimented with other types of hair since this style or after? If so, what brands (& type)?

  • @sweetface214eva I have only used the Freetress water wave,

  • I swear thought this was ur natural hair. since i've only watched one og ur videos so far

  • how many packs of hair did you use?

  • @BruciesChick if I remember correctly 2 and a half.

    ~keep it real

  • ur hair is bomb!

  • Girl I did this style this weekend.. Initially I couldn't find the water wave..so i got the deep twist by freestress..it came out so nice until i tried to cut it like yours LOL and umm it didn't come out right so i had to re-do and add more hair. But it is nice. Thank you for sharing this great protective style..Best believe this look will be in my head for a month its super easy !!

  • i use the same freetress and i love it. the only thing i do is break the hair open for a real afro look. i love it too. and its great to maintain the natural look eaay to wash everything every1 loves it esp my natural hair underneath.

  • THAnkyouuu so much for this! now I'm going to send you a way too long letter :)

  • I like off the shoulder tops-where did you get yours from?

  • @lolamac7 thank you. Its from DD's Discount and I think its really a boat neck but I did a little pulling to get this look. It was a cheap top, so after I washed it once it became a PJ top because it shrunk . lol

    ~KEEP IT REAL

  • i love this style! i've been wanting to do crochet braids, but how do you take care of your hair while it's braided underneath?

  • @saldiamond i cant moiosturize my hair and scalp as often as i want by just lifting up the hair. I did a dry shampoo when I wore this style

  • Im really liking this! I have done weaves before but this last time, it broke off one of my sides really bad. I think the hair on the track was too heavy. Is the hair in your style heavy?

  • @isleofcapri2 its not heave at all, and its not sewin in. the hair is just bunches of hair double tied. its super easy to install and remove.

    ~keep it real

  • Hey AfricanExport! I have been looking at all of your videos that have you with the crochet braids and also some other you tubers videos. I know you said that you used 10 cornrows but was there a certain pattern of how many you did per cornrow and did you split the hair in two or three or did you just use one piece of the hair as it comes?

Girl, LUV this look and I GOTTA have it!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @cohamilton99 GUURRLL, its just some cornwrows straight to the back. The hair comes in clumps of wavy curls. I dont split at all. I just take each piece and started installing. It takes under 4 hours to do, and if you have help with the cornrowing you have done the hardest part. The youtuber I watched was...."toy something" lol sorry forgot the name but she says about how many pieces for each section (ie. sides, top, back) hope this helps.

  • @AFRICANEXPORT Thanks Missy! I appreciate the time you took out to give such a detailed response. I gotta get this look! You, this style, and all of your styles are beautiful! Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @AFRICANEXPORT I luv luv luv this style on you. I did my mom's hair last week. I'm planning on doing mines. I couldn't find the freetress for her's, put I'm hoping to find it for mines.

  • Girl this looks fantastic. I been indecisive about what i wanted to do next with my hair. as i currently have grown out my relaxer using wigs and cainrows.

I was about to texturize it and have single braids. until i found this one.

ive just saved myself over £100. cos this hair is so cheap. I'll be trying this next week myself. really cant wait. thanks for the advice

  • Do you have a video tutorial doing this hairstyle? I can't find it.

  • wow you can find that Free Tress Water Wave in your area? I can't, I have to go online to order it. :( it looks nice! ..Latch hooking.

  • whaaaaa? so did not know that was hair it looks really natural, i really like this style too on you. its a good match to me anyway.

  • I love your videos and your hair. I've been trying to track down the Rastafri hair online and can't seem to find it. Can you please give me more information on it. Is that the name of the company? Can you suggest a store to purchase it? I'm in NYC.

    thank you soo much,

  • I love this. Do you wash them with shampoo, or do you do a different maintenance regimen?

  • I love this hair...I'm into doing my hair myself these days...I recently put in my own genie locs.....this will be next as soon as Iearn how to conrow!!!lol It looks really really good on you!!!

  • You can use the Freetree "water wave"

  • do you know a website to find this hair..the only crochet hair i find in my area is janet collection dread loc, it looks like shirley temple curls, and i am tired of the same look

  • You can use the Freetree "water wave"

  • Lovely style, well done suits you and thanks for sharing.

  • I love your channel African Export. What Brand is the RastAfri-Malibu Curl, Unable to locate it in my area. I would not have been brave enough to do my Big Chop, if it had not been for the beautiful Sista's on youtube. I want to send a great big Hug and Thank You's to all of you. I'm in Luv with my Natural Hair.

  • Fabulous!!!!

  • Is all of that crochet braided in , the last video u had braids in the front right ?

  • yea chica. I love you and your sister. Keepin it real. Thats my kinda woman! lol. but this is all crochet braids, Next installation I will do a tut

  • Sis how many packs did u buy ?? How many inches? How much hair per braid? I know I have HELLA questions . lol. But I LOVE that hair style.... It's da bomb

  • Lol I know how it is girl, whenyou see something you want and you HAVE to have it. Imma hook you up, no problem.

3 packs should be enough. The curls are already "bunched" in its individual coils, so I jjust take it as is out the pack. Its only one length of hair that I know of. Its synthetic hair and the packet says "crochet" on . Freetress is the best one, if you dont find the other brand thats ok. Just get the freetress. Its so nice, it looks like a twist out!

  • Is it 2 packs of Rastas and 1 pack of the otha kind . How much weave hair do u put on a braid ?

  • I love u Sis!!!!! You look too pretty ! Thanks for the shout out and the info and the love

  • I have this done to my hair right now but I used the hair for kinky twist. Because I left it loose everyone thinks it my hair! I love it any yours. I'm going to try the hair you have next... thanks

  • thx!

  • This style is so cute and because of your video I was willing to try. However, here in Houston it gets scorching hot during the summer. Do you think this style is to hot for blazing summer heat? I need a cute protective style for the summer because I'm transitioning. Thanks for your help!!

  • I think that in hot weather this hairstyle can work. Be mindful that I cut the hair myself so it was off my next, but covering my ponytail in the back. (its tucked) also I HAVE to wear my satin bonnet, to reduce frizz, and to keep that synthetic stuff off me. That is the only time I found it to be uncomfortably hot. If the hair isnt pulled back off your face, you will be sorry lol

    ~keep it real

  • Ok! Thanks so much. I may give this style a try for the summer.

  • very informative! I have heard of that technique but never paid any attention until YOU rocked it. You look so lovely with this protective style. I may have to try now. What would you think of a side part with hair out and the rest of the head crocheted? Is that possible?

  • I would say that in my opinion , this hair is so versatile, because of it's likeness to afro textured hair. I was thinking you could cornrow the sides for a mohawk effect, or braids on one side.

  • I am familiar with interlocks but not really crochet braids, but I am definitely going to find your other vid...thanks for sharing the info. You look gorgeous my dear! Ps. could you possibly attach the how to as a vid response to this one? thanks. God Bless.

  • This vid did help and yes that hair looks VERY natural...beautiful, just like your natural hair!

  • THANK YOU CHICA

  • GIIRRRRRLLLL, thank you! i was wondering myself. for a moment i thought it was your hair until i watched a couple of your other vids. I did catch the tutorial with the single braids in the front and crochet in the back. :o) I may try it in my hair later. Thanks again!! :O)

  • IT LOOKS THE BOMB, LOVE IT!!!

  • Thanks

    ~keep it real

  • I love this style. I thought it was your real hair until ur last video when you told us! I think i'll try it lol.

  • i love this style to death, it so me!

    ~keep it real

  • Hey sista hair is the boom ! how do you do that style?

  • I luv crochet braids. They are so easy. I rocked them hard last year and my hair grew beautifully in them.

  • Thanks what I am hoping that by summer I will get some really great growtjh, and I can show off my hair when its warmer.

    ~keep it real

  • Gorgeous! I had my last set of crochet braids in for 9 weeks. My current set has been in for 5.5 weeks. It's such an easy style.

  • I am mad that I just learned about it 3 months ago. I would never braid my hair in individuals.

  • Thanks for this vid!!! LOVE LOVE the crochet braids on you. I've been watching crochet braid tutorials here on the YT and i love the look of it. Very natural and a great protective style! Thanks again for sharing!

  • Thanks for watching.
