Not sure what you would need to interface to the 1.25" eyepiece slot. But I imagine mounting an SLR will be a problem because of the weight. This telescope is a light PVC tube (a few 100 grams), so mounting a camera of 1-2 kg will need extra supports etc.
I just heard about the Gallileoscope on the Skepticallity podcast. I know next to nothing about astrophotography, any suggestions on mounting this to an SLR? T-mount or EOS?
I ordered one. It's $15.00! Unreal. About $8 or $9 dollars shipping. Reviews say excellent optics that should cost 10 or 15x as much. 2" lens. Go to Sky & Telescope and check it out.
WITHOUT, just a straight Philips TouCam with 1.25" adaptor onto the Galileoscope T1 prototype. The production model of the Galileoscope (T2) will include a Barlow, however.
All that work and 240P. Now what is wrong with this picture?

Ordered one today, 17/9-09
(Norway)
Dette blir gøy. Har ikke sett Jupiters måner enda.
Har funnet fram et gammelt webkamera og en filmboks for å feste det til teleskopet.
Men må vel vente i 3 mnd før teleskopet kommer:-(

I got the telescope. Optics are excellent. Don't think of cheap department store optics. These are top notch. Fanstastic buy.

I would likely mount the camera to my regular heavy duty camera tripod. Seems like a fun DIY project, I'll report back if anything comes of it.

is this shot with or without a barlow lens?

what is the shadow in the center lower part of the images? it does not move with the moon, rather it seems to be a shadow.
thezooco 3 years ago
Probably an imperfection in the telescope lens or camera.
bonjovifan48 3 years ago
Or an alien spacecraft. :o
HellSpeed 3 years ago
This is probably caused by some out-of-focus dust grain on the detector or the IR-block window. Nothing to do with the Galileoscope itself...
ajaunsen 2 years ago
yes... what is that shadow?
