Okay well for all of you people who cannot stand seeing hunters SHOOT these prairie dogs, what I plan to do in the future is carry a large tank of water in the back of my truck. I will drive out there and FLOOD the things out of their holes with the water , and kill them with a baseball bat!

There are several species. At this time I believe only the Mexican Prairie Dogs of Utah are on the list, and they're just threatened. Not officially endangered. There are tons of other p-dogs.

It's poisoning and disease that actually decimate them. Hunting keeps the numbers low so they don't overpopulate and kill themselves off by disease. It also makes them less of a nuisance for ranchers while preserving their existence.

Why don't you just say what you mean? Hunting makes you squeamish.
