Love this movie-Love the part he is taking her by the hand and brings her out of the restaurant.. just watch the way Gwen is looking at Ethan.. no words to describe.
this is a real kiss!this kiss is the greatest of all!this is the right passion we all have to bring outside...excellent!fabulus!thank you so much!i have seen the movie many times and now i stucked again...i'm dreaming again...
Awesome Book. And Awesome Movie. If you have a chance read the book truly an great book of time. But I must say the Movie also expressed the emotions and feelings of the book withou missing a step
Corre en la lluvia, lo iban a atropellar,va al restaurant de su amada, la saca a bailar y se la roba al ñoño de novio que estaba sentado.¡Qué carácter de hombre!. Con razón la muchacha no se negó jeje
Isnt it kinda weird how estella and all her snob friends are eating in a pretty shabby chinese restaurant? Every other diner is dresed casual!! Kinda odd methinks!
yes I read the book.. and now explain to me why this is a joke? the movie doesnt have to be a copy of the book its just greatly inspired by it. and I think they did a wonderful job. so how dare u tell me being intolerant whilst making fun of a movie better than anything you will probably achieve in your life? quit the moron speech I am not 12 years old. I just hate people who dont appreciate great work and dont see it even when its right in front of their faces.
To me it feels like a joke for the reasons I gave in my answer to Belindashort. You can call me retarded 10 times and say you "hate people who can't appreciate great work" (intorelance?...), it still won't make any difference.
Look at all these positive comments. Many people simply love the movie, and I'm glad they do, so why do you whorry about one person that lookes at it in a totally different way?
The scene at the fountain was awesome, Estella was wicked in a way the book doesn't describe, and I liked it, because it was also very well shot. Now this moment... it's pure cliché. It feels like a joke in the sense it made me laugh, like the ending of "Romeo and Juliet" by Baz Luhrmann made me laugh.
I do appreciate works, but the word "appreciate" has many senses.
Did you actually watch the whole movie? Only the end really differs from the book, but it still makes a great book. While Estella is inaccessible in the book, that does not mean that she didn't care for him. This movie just takes the ending and twists it, and it's years later, much further than when the book ended
yeah (from someone who has read the book and watched the movie) i know what u are saying. but in a way estella is still inaccessible here. (in the movie) pip may have the chance 2 b with her for one night but she still can not end up with him. i think for doing a modern update this movie did very well u have 2 remember the book was based in a very different era AND in my opinion dickens great descriptions of the scene is what makes half the book. in my opinion anyway
this movie is my favorite movie of all times and this scene in-particular makes me cry every time i see it ,part of that is the amazzzing score that goes with it, what a genius guy who create this piece of music
anyways im still waiting for that scene to happened to me one day :))))
i really enjoy this scene because i once loved a girl and i´ve had a great day on my job she was with her family and i just went to the restaurant and imagine what happened later....
This is one of the greatest movies i've ever seen. i remember seeing this movie when i was a little kid as soon as it came out. it's been 10 years now and its simply brilliant!!!
omg this is like the best scene ever!i mean its like so beatiful n passionate, omg and the music! i luv the music!and i love the part when they ignore evryone around them and just start dancing!one of my favorite movies!
I agree with ntherewas1. Estella was supposed to be a passionate woman who seemed cold but was not. Paltrow, apart from looks, does not have that sparkle I thought Estella would have. Ethan Hawke though is an amazing actor. Music is amazing in that scene, so is he.
your confused my friend, she is as beautiful as he see's her, remember her beauty is described by the man who loves her. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
i want so much to get this on my ipod, could someone please tell me how. itunes doesnt offer this song to buy and when i went and bought the great expectations soundtrack, of course, this song isnt on there! stupid me! please help
i cried the 1st time i saw this movie......since then its my favorite.....this scene is amazing....

Is this based on "Great Expectations" by Charles Dickens? What a joke!...
Descalabro 3 years ago
why is this a joke? are u retarded?
indubioproreo23 3 years ago
Come on... Do you insult anyone who has a different way of seeing things? That's the first step to intolerance, then comes violence.
And I ask, without arrogance, did you read the book "Great Expectations"?
Estella is inacessible, she has to be, or the story's sense is lost.
I know, same thing always: movies aren't books and books aren't movies, but this is senseless to me.
Descalabro 3 years ago

The fact that she cared for him doesn't mean she suddenly has to love him. This is simply the Hollywood way of giving people just what they expected.
Descalabro 3 years ago
