  • r.i.p steve jobs </3

  • wow. i thought this was a real commercial!! This is AWESOME!!!!! GREAT idea!!!!!

  • This is glorious! I saw this in my Deaf Japan course here at Kansai Gaidai in Osaka. This is fantastic, thank you!

  • darn...if it wasn't a silhouette I'd totally be able to read the signs better :(

  • ORTOBAR ON THURSDAYS!!! xD

  • i thought this was a real ad at first, i'm not sure y apple doesn't use something like this... i was interested to how you could get it to work without the solid black shadow get in the way, good job!

  • @MateoJFR We tried to pitch it to Apple, but they don't accept anything outside their own agency. We used green screen and lit it carefully, but I still had to do some manual work around her feet.

  • @jb8256 Wow...it's too bad that Apple wouldn't take this based on principle. They're missing out! Great job, and keep up the great work!

  • That was AWESOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome!

  • She looks like tinkerbell :) Cute

  • freaking awesome..

  • It was reported on a Deaf dating site named Deafornot dot c om that 500,000 Deaf individuals in the United States claim American Sign Language (ASL) as their primary language.

  • Nice video. i am Hearing impaired and learning ASl in my 10th grade class and my teacher just so happens to be deaf :)

  • @Sagerstuts you're not hearing impaired! You are deaf or hard hearing! Own it :)

  • @Sagerstuts You're NOT hearing impaired! Deaf or hard of hearing! Own it :)

sorry I really dislike "hearing impaired" and a lot of my deaf friends hate it too!

  • LOVE this

  • holy crap that was great!!!

  • This is awesome!

  • HOLY CRAP. This is so amazing. I'm jealous of your ability. :)

  • @jb8256 Well, it's incredible! I really thought it was an actual apple commercial! Great job with the filming and editing!

  • Did you make this yourself? Because if you did that is SWEET!

  • @LiveForFunny Yes we did - in our living room! Thanks for the kind words.....

  • ilove this video, i really hate it when hearing people consider deaf people as stupid, this is why i always have to prove myself in school...im a straight A+ student in Ap classes and i have the 9th rank in my class out of 1500 students...i go to public school and have normal classes and etc,i am also very involved with deaf culture and plan on goin to college at Princeton, i am already recommended for it,I just wanted to prove the dumb asses out there wrong about deaf people.

  • Great way to let the world ther is a need for asl ads and more

  • This video is so DAMN AWESOME!!!!! Powerful, Just... AMAZING!!! Her signing, and dancing is AWESOME!!!! I love this, i now want to show this video to my ASL class at college.

  • @JVcrow44 thanks for yjr kind words - you are welcome to show it in your class!

  • to be honest i think most of the people who say they're deaf aren't only because i have A LOT of deaf friends and they're grammar isn't that good when writing or typing. So yeah... Just saying. Nothing vegetative just pointing out my observation.

  • @aznkid435 a vast majority of the deaf community can communicate very effectively. my aunt taught at several deaf universities and she claims that their writing and grammar skills are superior to that of most of the hearing students she's taught. grammar mostly involves sentence composition, words and phrases; all of which can be taught effectively without the ability to hear. you don't have to hear the word "cat" in order to properly understand or use it in a sentence.

  • @yulyu Yeah I know that but I was talking about how they use conjunctions (i think that's what they're called) like the word the or of (etc.)

for example I was having a conversation with my deaf friend about his teeth cause i thought he bought fake fangs and he said " Thoses teeth is my real teeth!! Haha wow"

so instead of "are" he wrote "is" just simple things like that.

  • @aznkid435 oh ok i understand what you mean. i have to say though, none of my deaf friends have ever improperly used a conjunction lol. in my experience, a lot of hearing students in use conjunctions incorrectly. ex: ' what you doing', "how you is?' etc... but I know that's a societal thing. what with slang speak and all.

  • @aznkid435 I think what you need to remember is that Deaf people's first language is not English. Many Deaf people write in English very well, but some make errors when using conjunctions, articles and other grammatical features that are common in the English language but are not part of American Sign Language Grammar. Speakers of other languages often make the same errors when writing in English, grammar for ASL is very similar to Russian Grammar - there are no articles in Russian either.

  • @sharoncleans I know, that why in my first comment I stated that I don't think most people that say they are deaf on the comments are actually deaf because they have really good grammar. So if they were actually deaf the grammar would be a little off, but it isn't.

  • @aznkid435 It's totally possible for Deaf people to have good grammar. Deafness in and of itself has no effect on grammar skills.

  • @purplewowies I know that it's possible, but it's usually harder for deaf people to have correct grammar because sign language is a whole different language. They have completely different dialects and grammar. For example if you taught someone, who speaks a different language, English they would have a hard time with grammar, dialect and pronunciation. Like my family we moved from japan and both my parents have a hard time speaking and writing English. The same rule would apply for deaf people

  • I am half deaf, complete hearing loss in my right ear. Yet, when I use an Ipod or other mp player, I always stick one in my right ear.... the one I can't hear out of, but yet I still hear the music, and I also leave the headphones out of my left earso I can hear other people talking to me. So yes, I believe people that are fully deaf CAN hear music....

  • ualllll

  • Please, nobody take this the wrong way but what do you hear when listening to an iPod and deaf. I know you feel the vibrations but do you feel just the bass or do you get the whole affect of the music? Also is it possible to know what genres of music you like, can you tell the vibrations that well? Could you tell, say, a love song from a rock song? Please no one take offence I'm just interested, please clear this up somebody.

  • @sumintookish To answer your question extensively would be difficult on my part because I'm hearing, but if you put noise cancelling headphones on, and a sub vibrating, could you tell by the beat if its hip hop or a metal band hittting the double bass pedal? I know I can because Hip Hop (for the most part) has a dancing beat while double bass hits frequently and hard.

  • @sumintookish Heavy metal is my favorite, keep in mind I'm not compleatly deaf ^_^, just hard of hearing. But have you ever been to a rock concert? I've only been ONCE, and I could totally feel the difference in the floor vibrations between the two different bands. (A mild rock and then Heavy metal) Yeah, I could still hear the music, but the feel of it was more awesome then the sound. Sound is just vibration after all. Try turning on your stereo, plug you ears and FEEL a while. Its AWESOME XD

  • So cool!

  • Wondering if I could use this for an assignment as well. Please let me know if that's alright, and how you would like it credited.

    Thanks!

  • @maryliz98

Yes, please feel free to use it!

  • @BrunetteBuddy2 Thank you!

  • Comment removed

  • absolutley awesome! pah!!!

  • hahahhahhahhhahhah good joke

  • lol I love this commercial cuz wen I sign upbeat songs I'm jus like tht.!!!!! :D

n try not to be offensive to the Deaf. I mean honestly;; they can use the same iPod, headphones, and everything. "Deaf people can do anything a hearing person can except hear" and most don't want to anyway. it's not a disability..it's their lifestyle and culture..try not to throw salt on it.. jusst saying :)

  • Several of my Deaf friends have them! :)

  • you should put headphones on and send this to apple.

  • love this rebel yell by billy idol has sign language with ipod shadows

  • lolz thats awsum hahaha i like this way beta then the original

  • This is cool - you know as I deaf dancer I really enjoy this!

  • In response to the comment b4 .I never said that deaf people couldn't listen to iPods I said that they need a different kind of headphones to do so.

  • Very nice, props to you!!

  • Hi! I'm doing a documentary about Deaf culture for my Grade 12 English project, and I was wondering if I could use this clip in my documentary? Thanks!

  • Yes, you may!

  • lol cool! im doing a biography on helen keller so i learned the amarican sign language alphabet and came across this :P hope u do well 4 ur project :)

  • Wow, that was awsome! :) I love commercials involoving Sign Language. :)

  • this commercial pretty much defines how i listen to my ipod. i ALWAYS sign to ALL he songs.

  • love it so amazing

  • i agree with Zalyna8. I'm deaf and i can feel and hear music alittle but most i can feel music

  • woah...excuse me...i'm deaf...and i can feel music and dance to it very well...deaf people are better dancers than hearing ppl...because they CAN Dance by feel of the beat even if they cant hear the words..wow it shows how ignorant some of you ppl are......im offended

  • my mother is deaf and she loves to listen to music, music plays apart in everyones lives whether they are deaf or not, dont be offended some people are just ignorant of that fact

  • @Zalyna8 dude thts sick ur deaf? awesome dude no lie ppl might've thought way before a person who is deaf could have like one of the worst and most torturing conditions. im sure its hard and real annoying but seeing a deaf dude rock out would not make my day but id probly realize how lucky i am forever

  • @Zalyna8

:/ hmm I doubt that hearing the words really affects the dancer's ability to dance to the beat. I'm pretty sure that being deaf is only a handicap in this sense, seeing that the deaf person is unable to hear the music, and therefore they have no sense of the type of music that is playing and strictly are dancing to patterns of vibrations. and what happens when the bass and treble are turned down? :O but all this to say that being deaf doesn't necessarily make you a better dancer.

  • @Zalyna8 i am srry for these rude people and u are right deaf people are better dancers because they can feel the vibrations and beats, i hate how people asume just because u have a disability doesnt mean you cant do the same stuff they do.

  • @TacosRyouFriends Ehhh being deaf isn't really a 'disability.' It may be considered a handicap - but only if in a room with only hearing people.. but then again, if a hearing person was in a room with only deaf people, THEY would be considered handicapped! I'm not deaf; my boyfriends parents are both deaf, though.. I volunteer at camps with deaf children and such.. and well, they get very offended when others call them 'disabled.' (I'm not attacking you about it, just pointing this out)

  • @Zalyna8 Welcome to YouTube, the biggest mass of uneducated incompetents you're ever gonna find.

(unrelated) If I was deaf I'd have the biggest damn subs you could buy, aimed straight into the floor. My deaf neighbors wouldn't even be able to sleep!

  • @Zalyna8 I think it's wrong to say "deaf people are better dancers than hearing people." Your ability to hear does not effect your ability to dance, as long as you can follow the beat. I had thought before deaf people could feel the bass of music, but I never knew it was strong enough to keep a rhythm and dance to it! That's cool to hear :)

  • @Zalyna8 I'm sorry but are you really deaf or just hard of hearing? There's a big difference.

  • @aznkid435 Ok, dont you think someone who says there are deaf would know if they were or were not?! How can you dare question someone on that..seriously, rudeness. Sure there is a big difference, and quite frankly its none of your business..i mean if someone is HOH im sure they would say that, if they said deaf instead, how do you feel asking them if what theyre saying is correct?

  • @lanab06 Cause I looked up her youtube page and myspace page that's link to it (I do my research before I criticize) and on it she said she was hard of hearing.

  • @Zalyna8 I'm inclined to agree. I'm hearing and I have to admit that I envy how the Deaf get to experience music.

  • @Zalyna8 Deaf people can, yes. But I don't think you should lie about being deaf.

  • Comment removed

  • @Zalyna8 don't worry bout any of it, without being exposed or experiencing deafness lots of people don't understand it. Personally i don't understand alot of a deaf person's life because i havn't been around them much. At schol they're doing an ASL club though and i'm so excited to learn. That's all it is, a need to learn.

  • But hard of hearing people can hear :)

Deaf people can see sign language

  • My deaf friend has an ipod and she can feel the beat in her ears. She can say in sync every word to almost every song on the radio. Deaf people CAN "listen" to music

  • she can really dance

  • i know ha!

  • nice!

  • love it i wanna see more more more lmbo!

  • Educate yourself on deaf people! They can do everything but hear. My parents loveee music, especially my dad. He actually plays guitar himself. Signing songs gives the lyrics a whole new meaning as well. I love deaf culture :]

  • lol rebel yell

  • nice 4 star, I wanna to know how be deaf can hear this music?

  • They can fusually feel the base and thats why it is signed so they know what the music is saying

  • thx, I do love meet deaf people :D I think deaf is cool

    (5 star again)

  • They feel the vibrations.

  • not everyone is completly deaf, and they feel the vibrations of the sound.....

  • COOL

  • You fucking idiot...if you bothered to read responses this video you'd realize that deaf people use iPods. I am so sick of people like you posting messages based on ignorance. THINK BEFORE YOU POST!

  • Hm? What did he say? It is marked so low I cant read it.

  • Comment removed

  • What the hell. That's so rude.

  • Haha Really? I Can Hear.. Im Deaf But I Can Hear....

  • remeber holmes u dont need to be deaf to use ASL u ould be mute

  • @wackmestudios that is a very ignorant response. I have an older brother and mother and2 sister in laws that are deaf and they love music. Its not always what you hear its what you can FEEL as well!!!

  • my mom and dad are deaf from birth and i know sign language very well because of them and my dad bought me an ipod recently and i showed my mom what the itouch has and now she wants one too. deaf people can have ipods if you dont like what i say suck it bitches

  • @sunsets4231 retard most deaf people can hear ipods if its at peak volume

even some profoundly deaf people can hear ipods

    your ignorance angers me

  • Comment removed

  • If one more person makes this stupid remark I'm gonna shoot myself. If you bothered to read comments made here, you'd see how many deaf people have said they use iPods - they can feel vibrations.

  • I'm sorry...I know that now, but I didn't when I posted it. It just didn't make sense to me at first

  • @jb8256 I am Deaf Too. (you can see my username lol)

  • *LOL* So funny! You made my day, thanks!

  • "Rebel Yell" by Billy Idol

  • wats the name of the song

  • Comment removed

  • the angel part looks awesome!

  • That was great.

  • hi that's cool, I honestly didn't want to offend people; its amazing when you find out how little people outside of a cuture you are immersed in know about it, I find myself getting defensive about stuff all the time that is like second nature or common sense to me, but (and I am surprised by this every time) not everyone thinks in the same way I do because we are all experiencing the world in these myriad different ways!

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, thanks for the insight!

  • I don't want to sound ignorant but I might be about to... I understand music is rhythmic, but this doesn't come through earphones does it? So why is an ipod ad relevant to the deaf?

  • ALL VIBRATIONS will come through earphones. Deaf people (at least some) can feel it.

Even if that weren't the case, there are Deaf people who have, use, and like iPods, and like this video.

Even if THAT weren't the case, and all Deaf people depised the iPod (and this ad) like it was the spawn of Satan, Deaf people aren't the only people who use ASL. There are people with disabilities, interpreters, and even the random hearing person learning ASL that like this video. I'm one such person.

  • Well, I'm deaf... I have an iPod! I have videos mostly, but I had subtitles added to them so I can SEE what's being said... Though I also have a hard time reading such small font... But it's great! :)

AND... I can feel the vibrations of the beats and that's really cool! ... I like iPods!

  • woah for the little earbuds you must have it up pretty loud to feel vibrations?? do you have to worry about that though, i mean does it do any damage even if you are deaf?

  • No, I don't think so! My eardrums are already ... dead! LoL

  • Sorry you're deaf Tyler.

  • It's actually not ALL bad! I don't need hear people talk! Actually, sometimes I feel left out, but it's OK because my friends help me out lots!

  • Comment removed

  • Aweh. There is a deaf kid at my school and he's picked on alot, i try to help him out sometimes, but he's in a grade 3 years higher. I always feel bad for him because the only one that knows sign language is his helper.

  • @gagme24 if you took the time to learn about deaf culture

then you would know that most deaf people don't mind being deaf

    some actually prefer it

    its not a disability

    despite popular belief

  • Not at all ignorant...and ignore purplewowies defensiveness...I find that hearing people like to get indignant "on behalf" of deafness...it gives them an identity, makes them feel special.

Along with video, many deaf people have residual hearing to different degrees (hearing is not an either/or proposition - it is a spectrum).

iPod even has a cool adapter that works with hearing aids. I've seen many a deaf person rock out to their iPod s :-) Good question!

  • I wasn't trying to be defensive, and I truly didn't originally think I came across that way. I think the comment I removed was a little more defensive than the one I left posted.

It seems I always try to defend ASL videos (at least the ones I like). I was just trying to say that deaf people DO use iPods, and this commercial isn't exactly only for deaf people and that other people use ASL. I'm sorry if it came across as defensive.

  • Comment removed

  • whoa excuse me!!!??? u dont fucking know how much deaf people LOVE music! i do own a iPod in fact...all they need is the headphones so they can feel the bass...

    seriously watch your typing

  • YES! Thank you! :)

  • umm, some deaf people arent COMPLETLY deaf, like myself,

im hard of hearing. but i have an iPod.

    answer ur question?

  • They're Doing Something Nice For Deaf People Dumbass.

  • @fluffypinkblonde

Ipods arent even only for music AS most everyone knows. There is lots of literature out for deaf in ASL that they can upload to their music and watch.

  • I just saw this commercial and i love it. 2 of my closest friends are deaf. I am teaching myself ASL with the help of books and videos. ASL is awesome and u know what? Deaf people are just as normal as us! My 2 deaf friends are the best guys to take out to a club when i wanna dance the night away. There is a huge deaf and HOH community in this world and we need to respect them and treat them as equal coz they infact are the same as us. Its almost the same as if I died my hair platinum blond.

  • I couldn't have signed it better my self!

  • read the comment below, stop asking the same questions several have asked, that's why they are there.

  • Mona Jean Cedar is awesome!

  • That's pretty cool. But did this commercial get on tv?

  • Nope - we contacted Apple and their ad agency and they responded, but they don't accept outside subimissions

  • awe that sucks they really should put this out because i think it would make people happy like the deaf arent always ignored its a brilliant commenrcial

  • can u expalin why did they not accept this?

they shouldve that will make their sales increase

  • ...why would a deaf person use an ipod?...

  • i am very good friends with a Deaf girl, she has special attachments to her hearing aids that enable her to listen to her iPod, its actually very cool

  • Would you PLEASE read other posts to this video!? If you did, you'd realize deaf people own iPods. We get asked this question all the time - a lot of deaf people have responded to this video. My wife (in the video) is a nationally certified ASL interpreter and would know that deaf folks use and own iPods. They can feel rhythms and bass frequencies. The deaf community also includes "hard of hearing" - there are degrees of deafness.

  • or they would have to turn it right up...:S

  • i agree im in asl and i love the deaf community and the language better than my own. and im not even a CODA

  • I second that, thoug I use Belgian (flemish) Sign Laguange instead of ASL.

I ain't no CODA myself but I looooovvve the language!

  • i also agree. I am an advanced student in ASL and i find that i like ASL much better than english as most of the time will prefer signing over speaking :]

  • BADASS!

  • billy idol. Rebel Yell

  • Hello, I´d like to know who sing this song, or if this song was created by the user! Tks

  • Rebel Yell by Billy Idol

  • too cool !!!!!!!!!!!! luv it !!!!!!!wish you guys the best of luck us signers can rock it out too

  • me 2... i was totally deaf.. but with Cochlear Implant..... and Now.. i am HOH!!

  • Hey this is cool! But why would deaf people want an ipod?

  • i am deaf.... and i still have an Ipod.. Why can't I have it!! u know there are such a thing called "Hearing Aids"???

  • The iPod needs captions! Anyone deaf watching this should write to Apple and demand closed captions.

  • was this an actual iPod commercial? If so that is awesome, I didn't see this.

    This is way cool!
