É impressão minha ou a "narração" das corridas desse filme é Paul Page (o narrador norte-americano que narrava as corridas da CART nos anos 80 e meados dos anos 90)?!?
Good fun movie,if you want realistic go see these cars race for real, even the old McQueen movies arent realistic even if they dont use computer imagerie
After i saw some scenes of this movie again i think they should rather call it "CRC-CrashRacingChampionship" I dont mind if the crashes are a bit (or way to) unrealistic, i kinda like if cars get airbourne and fly around(as long as its not deadly of course) The movie itself is one of many movies that i whould like to watch again.
@calfan3 Informate before writing, McQueen is the actor of movies such as Bullitt and Le Mans (whose producers were also the spectacular "Grand Prix"). A shame that you confuse McQueen with a character from a Disney movie ...
6:41 is the worst bit of CGI work I've ever seen :D It looks like a really bad video game and then suddenly they cut to real footage... this movie's crap
the stupid thing is not the crashes, its for entertainment, but as a racing fan you can see VERY often the changing of tracks between scenes
sometimes on a highway, sometimes on the montreal track, sometimes detroit street circuit and the fourth i recognized was something in canada i forgot the name of and you can see the differences between the seconds too often for my favor
as a die-hard Motorsport fan this movie gives me nothing but giggles! I love it because its so wrong and funny because off it. for example 2:07 "over rev" hahaha was that because he pushed forward on the gearstick at 1:26.. I'm pretty certain that engine should be done for
@XxPredatorxX17 have you ever ridden a motorcycle without a helmet before, then again your prolly to whiny to do that cause youll whine about how you can breath
We were so excited when Stallone was filming the movie, showing up at the various races, then so horrifed when we saw the actual movie. It is worth watching as a racing fan, but when they get to the point of chasing each other thru the streets of chicago without helmets I threw up in my mouth a little.
Quit insulting this movie by explaining that the crashes are not realistic, it's a movie, purely for entertainment, which usually relies in explosions and crashes, people enjoy carnage, drama, blood, and anger. Not only do we love it, but we will pay to see it. Always have and always will. This movie is a classic for f1 racing. Also the best formula 1 racer movie i've ever seen in its time and a big part of my childhood. enjoy it everytime.
@MaeteraEditing Because it's different series - the cars have different engines, tyres etc and run on different kinds of track from F1. Google "compare f1 to cart".
@bullmilk There weren't even close. What CART teams were running V12s? Plus CART was all turbo during the early 2000s when F1 hadn't used them for 10 years. There was very little similarities - F1 teams had to make their own Chassis but CART teams had options like March, Dallara etc. Around Gilles Villenueve Circuit the CARTs were about 10 seconds a lap slower.
@MaeteraEditing They're CART cars. They look a bit like F1 cars but they are very different beasts. Of course the movie uses F1 engine sounds for the FX track which doesn't help
@MasterOfPros Yea but stallone said his reason for switching to CART was because he felt F1 was too strict, and he wanted to make sure the movie was "ACCURATE". This movie was Stupid no matter how you defend it.
@MasterOfPros Mmm no a classic F1 race movie is Grand Prix. This movie has nothing to do with F1. It is a completely different series, based on different cars, tracks, countries, rules, drivers, teams, sponsors and budget (CART was much lower budget). F1 is a world championship and CART, while a great series was not. Don't call it a F1 classic if you don't even know what F1 is.
@MasterOfPros If you actually knew about CART you would be disappointed. Just like Days of Thunder. But it was an entertaining movie and I actually enjoyed it a bit.
Sylvester Stallone chose to film a sport which creates its own drama, Then chose to ignore it and write the most ridiculous car film ever made.
Couple that with a script written in gibberish/made up technical jargon and racing sequences being strewn together with footage from completely different locations and you get this train wreck.
It isn't just a shit racing film, its a shit film.
Funny, they actually had a few CART drivers, including Jacques Villeneuve and Mark Blundell in small cameos, as well as for actually driving the cars.
i dont know why you dont like the film i kinda like him really much one of my favourite one's , alright the crashes are bad but the dialogs and the racing scene's are nice.
The Champ Car hate in these posts is ridiculous.F1 is a great series of racing, but so was CART. And CART and Indycar were not the same thing. The people slamming CART in favor of F1 don't seem to get the difference.Let me remind you that several F1 drivers drove in CART. Nigel Mansell left F1 to race CART. So get over this F1 superiority complex...in the 90's,CART was just as incredible, innovative, and competitive as F1,actually,probably more competitive given there were a variety of winners
I had forgotten how terrible this movie was. Truly awful. The only redeeming quality: Burt Reynolds doing The Best unintentional Yoda impersonation during his private talk with Burt late in the movie. Brilliant!
It was in fact so shite, that Bernie Ecclestone refused to allow Stallone to make it about Formula One. So he instead made it about that amateur American crap called CART.
I love the way that some of the posts on this page try to compare CART and Indy Car Racing to Formula One. What a joke!
Even a "bad" movie can have really good scenes, both the coin trick and when they go zipping through downtown Chicago are some both really awesome scenes.
yeah the special effects suck but at the time when this movie came out it was new stuff everyone thought it was a great movie i remember watchin it in the theaters and everyone in there thought it was badass but now that people including myself got spoiled with the new age stuff with transformers and the matrix and all those other CG oriented movies this movie seems ancient. but i still like it especially the coin part.
any one of you who badmouth this part of the movie are brainless people and have no idea once so ever how HARD it is to drift with an F1 car seeing that the acceleration and traction are totaly different from a normal car learn something about cars and stuff before running your mouth... this piece is awsome
I used to love this movie when I was a little kid I don't know why people give it so much crap. I wonder if I watched it now if I would think it's stupid.
Love this movie,Indy cars are the cars I like, all other cars are boring, regardless of if it's a toyota or a ferrari,I've tried em all and nothing comes close to the rush of a sportbike, not to mention the low cost/high performance ratio compared to every sports car on earth.
This movie did its job there are alot of arm chaired racers, quarterbacks, movie stars and so forth, they had to make a movie not every movie can just be factual dialog
You know, if the cars were to go by this movie's logic, and flip randomly and fly through and over every barrier, why would we even have fences and tire walls? Seriously, no barrier in this movie does it's job.
For all of you guys that think this is Kart Racing is wrong, this is an Indy Racing movie, because if you watched the movie at the press confrince in Canada the sign says Molson INDY.
Even for 2001 they could've done so much better and not make it look like a mockery. A car that randomly jumps in the air (i.e. Pruett's flip at 2:50), the random swerve at 8:00 which could've been done a helluva lot better for 2001. And of course they didn't need to have the exaggerated wrecks, that's what probably hurt them with it looking terrible.
They filmed the coin sequence at the Toronto Molson Indy after the race was finished. I know because I was a corner marshal back then. Some other footage is probably Montreal, they never filmed at Trois Rivieres.
BAARRRFFF!! 'scuse me i was just getting over the puke inducing nature of this film. 1. you cant slide a modern indy/f1/cart car like that theyre too low and too dependant on aero to allow for such nonsense. 2nd. no track especially trois rivieres where this was filmed would allow a rusty old codger such as stallone do do this as a "warm up"
1. yes you can, sliding an indy car on cold tires is VERY easy, trust me.
2. you can get away with alot on a track if you pay, if you're ever in Germany stop by Nürburgring ;) also most times you get bitched out after you get off the track, private test days happen all the time....this isn't warmup.. guess this was just oversight since you are a car nut
Try the movie Le Mans. There's little dialog, but you get to see the most awesome & legendary Le Mans sportscars racing realistically. Plus Steve McQueen's in it and actually drove the car himself!
@tiadaid Le Mans is a great movie. They could easily have edited out the "romance" bits. They weren't particularly well done and ruined the flow in my opinion. Grand Prix (1966) is also worth checking out.
And also, the Crowd Reaction at 7:04. Why on earth is that woman in the front left looking the wrong way? How is she looking? Where are the stands on that corner lol? XD
I love ripping into awful movies, and they don't come much worse than this.
Team Penske (I think, I'm British), gets sideways with no-one infront of him.
The next shot, and it's the Visteon Car spinning, the Penkse one is already round the corner. Look at where he is heading. BLACK Tyres infront of a CONCRETE WALL! Then a FENCE and then the GRASS!
But No, he spins and goes through a Red and White Tyre wall and into some Gravel of somekind. Gravel at a Street Circuit?
As a CART fan, I should say this movie is crap. The explosions, the cars flying are just too over-acted. and it portrayed CART as a racing category for hillbillies.
hahahha look at his tires at 1:58 lmfao he's going so fast with his tires at a dead stop XD

best racing movie is the SENNA movie and it's real!!!!! so many flaws in this movie its unreal;
drivers driving on a straight supposedly flat out yet they can put their foot down more!!?
The cars on show would of only been rolling chassis
as soon as theres minor contact the cars fly
slys meant to be picking coins off a street circuit, yet in the first slide hes on an open circuit
sly and the idiot who takes over from him later would never fit into one of these cars
yeah its a movie but...

BAARRRFFF!! 'scuse me i was just getting over the puke inducing nature of this film. 1. you cant slide a modern indy/f1/cart car like that theyre too low and too dependant on aero to allow for such nonsense. 2nd. no track especially trois rivieres where this was filmed would allow a rusty old codger such as stallone do do this as a "warm up"
cnycarnut 2 years ago
1. yes you can, sliding an indy car on cold tires is VERY easy, trust me.
2. you can get away with alot on a track if you pay, if you're ever in Germany stop by Nürburgring ;) also most times you get bitched out after you get off the track, private test days happen all the time....this isn't warmup.. guess this was just oversight since you are a car nut

Grand Prix (1966) is also worth checking out.

to the crash, whilst the car is airbourne?
The Montreal crash is just cringeworthy.
And also, the Crowd Reaction at 7:04. Why on earth is that woman in the front left looking the wrong way? How is she looking? Where are the stands on that corner lol? XD
I love ripping into awful movies, and they don't come much worse than this.
Good Job on avoiding it Bernie...

Wow. 2 of the worst moments in a Driving Film...
1st Crash. -
Team Penske (I think, I'm British), gets sideways with no-one infront of him.
And Marshalls being sent..

WTF is going on at 8:00?
Did they not bother to check that the CGI for that part looked good?
And as for the Commentator describing Bly trying to get past... A 10 car pile up and he talks about that in around 5 seconds?
Worst Driving Film Ever. F+F is more realistic!

The best racing movie EVER was Le Mans with Steve McQueen.

As a CART fan, I should say this movie is crap. The explosions, the cars flying are just too over-acted. and it portrayed CART as a racing category for hillbillies.
