Just got back from his concert with EJ and Andy Mckee...one word...guitar-gasm...
Admittedly I had never heard his music before...I know have 2 of his albums. Great guy too...they all stayed an hour after the show to sign and take pictures. Won't forget this for a while.
@tenyearsgone09 just saw that same tour 3 days ago... yep, all three guys were unbelievably talented, and really classy/humble people as well. The fans I was with were long time fans of Peppino, but had never heard of Andy McKee, one had never heard of Eric, the rest remembered him as an electric player... and they, like you, discovered something new that they won't forget...
sungha is good, but theres no way he's better! that kid can play anything but he cant write shit. his few original songs kind of suck. its the artist not the performance that is great. but to be able to write and play a song like this is the real challange.
its like saying someone who plays bach is better than bach him self.
nice reproduction here. i don't have such discriminating ears as some of you, i guess. pipino appears to be accomplished in a great many styles this being just one exquisite example. we heard him last thursday and his playing was impeccable. in addition, one of the truly nicest people you will ever meet.
I saw him earlier this year opening for Tommy Emmanuel, it was great. And then they played together later in the show. It was great. You have to be an accomplished guitarist to be on tour with Tommy.
Godin Seagulls are best bang for your buck in my oppinion, can't beat em, if I had a choice to buy a $3000 Taylor, or a $1000 Seagull, I would deffinetly go with the Seagull. I have a 12 string, hoping to purchase a 6 string miniature jumbo, they have amazing tone and playability.
I don't like the lower end seagulls. Nobody around my area has a sealgull that costs over $400, so I couldn't really try the good ones. Do the high end model play noticeably better than the cheapys?
@comptilion i know your comment was 1/2 a year ago, but Blueridge guitars are better than Seagull's (in my opinion). Especially their all solid wood guitars.
yah, the wide neck doesn't bother me at all and I actually prefer it as I played a classical guitar for a few years and grew to love that feel. From what i've read the nut on the signature model is just a hair wider than the non sig but both fretboards are a bit wider than the average regardless.
The Artist Studio CW is exactly what I'm looking to purchase. Amazing looking (and sounding, for Peppino anyway lol) guitar.
I have a Seagull Artist Studio CW. It is very similar except for the neck width. If you look closely, you will see that his guitar has individual saddles for each string. So, this particular guitar was most likely custom made for him. However, Seagull does have a Peppino D'Agostino signature guitar available. And, I believe he currently plays one. The necks are wider than most steel string guitars. More like a classical guitar. Which makes sense because Peppino was trained in classical guitar.
I saw Peppino play last night and the instrument he used the most was his Seagull signature. He also played a nylon strung Godin and a 12 string Godin, but unfortunately, didn't use a Guitar synthesizer for any of the pieces he played. Not that it prevented it from being an amazing show! =)
Oh Porterhaus2, you have nothing to appologize for. Wonderful song, great performance. Thanks for posting it, it was my introduction to Peppino D'Agostino.
I think Sungha Jung has posted an excellent performance. And, I am amazed at the quality of his play. He has a huge following on youtube, as witnessed by the number of views this video already has in such a short time. I think Peppino D'Agostino would be very flattered.
Although Sunhga Jung's performance is very impressive for his age, it comes no where near the quality Peppino D'Agostino's playing. It would be silly to compare the two. Jung is comparable to any adult guitar player with 2-3 years worth of experience (although he is impressive for his age). Peppino is a virtuoso and maybe one of the best guitar players of his time. Years from now Jung may reach the level of D'Agostino, but we'll have to wait and see if that happens.
It's kind of sad to hear b.s. from the likes of you:"any 2-3 years worth of experience". I dare you to name anyone with "2-3 years" experience to play this peice at the level of Sungha. Not only that, you can't even spell his name. How sad....
I agree about the sound quality. The flip side of the DVD is DVD-Audio which is state of the art, high definition sound. If you have the playback equipment to listen to it you will not be disappointed.
Unfortunately, the sound on this video is a bit messed up due to a software issue on my computer. I apologize for that.
this is really a very nice song and a favorite Peppino D'Agostino tune of mine. He is such a great guitarist and I had the chance to see him live two times and I took part in workshop several years ago. Many thanks for posting this one, porterhouse2. And a big Thank-You for subcribing to our videos!
They are called shock mounts. And yes, the mic is suspended in the middle with elastic vibration isolators. They help to prevent any vibrations from the floor or mic stand from affecting the mic. Thanks for the comment and question.

randomnaznboy 3 years ago
If he's going to be a legend, he better improve (at least with this song). ;-)

I agree with your comment, its the soul conveyed in the piece, not what is played technically, it states what we are - unique individuals!!

true, but the way sungha plays at his age is amazing, he is a prodigy, of course he will be a legend later in his life!
