Nina I just found you ! truly inspiring.. I am a mature student in England studying under the "established" olde worlde British music establishment.... your teaching is truly "out of the box" incredibly brave and incredibly "right" thank you for your considerable time making these incredible videos......
Wow... very enlightening, thank you! The whole partita is my favourite classical piece for flute! =D I've always considered Bach to be absolutely danceable... He was such a visionary in so many ways! And we do need more "non-tradicional" approaches, as you say! Well done!
Nina, that was the most thrilling (and educational) video I've seen from you. As a French-Canadian singer/songwriter- and having opened for Barachois in Alberta, Canada- I am honoured that you would use such a descriptor to draw out the groove from Bach's "dance" music.
Okay that is so cool... I have taken a tin whistle and made my own melody with music similar to that... But now I want to go take out a couple Bach pieces and try that out... Neat!
Superb - really do need to look up Frank Zappa's edit compositions on Sheik Yerbouti and how he put the triple instrumental album 'Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar' together - there is a world of composition and performance here.............
Thnx so much for the videos on THe ABch Partita in A minor, Movement 4. I'm playing around with adding trills and turns or gruppetos in my style, but it's very difficult.
DANCE, DANCE! Very enlightening video, Nina- thank you! I completely agree with capturing the energy of a Bach piece. I still think that my self-incriminating video was much more embarrassing than yours :-)
yes, yes, yes! :) alright. that's what i'm telling my students every day. sing & dance. ;) they are often laughing about it, but maybe in some years they will understand what i mean....
wow. what a good idea, playing with the bach bouree and the music on your ipod. :) great.
no, this one is the bourree anglais in a minor from one of bach's partitas. the bouree Ian Anderson is playing is from a lute suite, originally i e minor.
thanks, specifically, I was looking for sheet music. Preferably from a free public domain, but If i cant i can buy it from our close-enough-to-be local music store. They have everything. I currently do own the Ian anderson version.
What is the song you played to??

Bach and Barachois...a great match!
Send your video to Chuck and Albert, brothers
and Albert an ex-Barachois member.
They also are a performing duo.

Thanks for this. Did Ian Anderson derive his Borree from this piece. I want to learn the original before I do the jazzy Ian Version.

Just to be clear....
This Bourrée Anglaise is the 4th mvt. from BWV 1013
The Ian Anderson Bourrée is the 5th mvt of BWV 996
They are two different dance movements that are both basically called a Bourrée.
