I suspect because it either doesn't fall in to 'their' view of what is acceptable or they think it negatively impacts public perception & makes it harder to make a living doing permission walls/exhibitions regardless of whether they started out doing it themselves.

@Jimbojetist I'd suggest you to learn more about graffiti. Graffiti developed out of tagging or so called "bombing". You first learn how to tag then how to piece and so on. From the law aspect it is vandalism (Tagging (bombing), doing big pieces or just throwups). It doesn't matter if it's a masterpiece or looks like shit, from law aspect it's vandalism.
