Socialista Tibalista: Please, please, please get educated concerning a subject before you bark out your erroneous and bizarre conclusions regarding our constitution here in Honduras. Our constitution can be ratified with the exception of three articles but mainly Article 239, which forbids a president from seeking to serve more than one term in office and provides that any president seeking to amend or alter this constitutional limitation is to be removed from office.
I believed I mentioned your constitution forbidding even discussing the subject of reelection. Thats why I said "any constitution that does not allow itself to be revised on pain of military intervention is not a constitution worth maintaining".
Im educated on the facts.
Its an absolutely rediculous notion to ban discussion on anything civic, upmost a "living" document like a constitution.
As a Honduran citizen and liberal democrat; I just CAN NOT believe that the republicans of the US are the ones actually getting things right and supporting our ouster of ex-president Zelaya. It astounds me and mesmerizes me. Its sad to see such a great nation being led by such an unintelligent cabinet as the Obama administration: hopefully the democrats will do a better job the next time around in nominating someone with higher and levelheaded reasoning capabilities.
And why shouldnt Hondurans be able to re-elect under their own volition someone they believe has served the country well if they see fit to? Even America allows for re-election.
And if its so undemocratic to allow ending term limits (something Zelaya was not asking for) then when will you protest the tyranny of Iceland or Italy or Canada?
Let me ask, do you propose a US supported coup in Colombia where Uribe may very well run for a third term?
Wow, so many down votes, but no rebuttal...how absoluteley unexpected... Id like to see a response from you mr. Demint, or one of your better staffers, or is speaking to those that disagree with you a Republican faux paus?
As for Constitutional, he intended to conducta non binding poll the day of the coup to see where the people stood on the issue, this was the justification for the Coup, I wonder when you'll order the arrest of Zogby International employees. A constitution that does not allow itself to be revised on pain of military intervention is not a constitution worth maintaining, No one in there right mind would look at our history for example and disagree.
Obama is also on the side of Calderon of Mexico, Uribe of Colombia and Gordon Brown, funny you didnt pose the situation in that way. Its also odd that your supporting the Junta when it has shot 2 people dead and injured hundreds more, banned demonstrations, militarily halted TV reports, closed Radio stations, arrested members of Congress for merely voting the "wrong" way on June 28 and imposed Draconian curfews to, in there own words, impede demonstrations (which I thought is a democratic Right)
I hope you feel the same way about venezuelas violence againts demostration, you can find them here in youtube as well. also with hundreds injured, and closed tv stations radio stations, draconians curfews to impede demostrations, which You think are a democratic right.
I honestly would if it were true and not nonsense. In the same way i look at Cuba and see tyranny. To prove this to you will be in vein, and in countless debates with no credible evidence on the right wing side, in the end if you want to see opression in police quelling a violent demonstration no amount of evidence will prove to you a thing, you'll just then point to the next protest and call foul, and the next, etc
However you did name a few objective 'facts', what demonstrations in perticular are you talking about? what date?
what "draconian curfew" laws are you talking about? I dont recall there being any, not even in times of crisis like in the 2003 Oil Managers lockout of PDVSA, much less to impede demonstrations, there were large demonstrations last week so apperantly they're not doing a very good job.
And about RCTV's closure, it was no secret to anyone that they had conspired with military generals to overthrow Chavez in 2002, the President of RCTV signed the Carmona decree and his tv channel was thanked live on air for its collusion in the coup. Thats not the least of it btw.
However whats your point? if the Loony Leftist supports Chavez than what the dictator in Honduras does is fine? If you truelly condemn Chavez for his 'tyranny' then you'll condemn Micheletti just the same.
though i suspect you condemn Chavez for being a Leftists first and foremost ( a Leftist who speaks his mind no less) and his 'strongarm' tactics are just excuses to find legitimacy in your opposition to him, they're incidental in other words, or else you'll support Zelaya with the same vigor you support an end to 'dictatorship' in Venezuela, which of course you dont.
Nice to see the truth about Honduras

Okay, I see what is going on. The president of that country was trying to do that. So we should support the country over its president.
Then again we have to deal with Chavez and Raul. Since they happen to be our neighbors.
