I`m sorry but blaming a LCV for the dangers is the same as blaming a hand gun for being dangerous . how about teaching four wheelers how to operate their cars or trucks when sharing the highways with a semi truck ? Its really not that hard to share a road with a truck . just be 10% smarter than the car or truck you are driving .. thats all we ask . we will stay right and you just drive safe and leave a lot of room . seems easy to me .
i dont really see this as RR propoganda. as the driver of a heavy vehicle myself, its extremely dangerous with 1 trailer nevermind 2 , 3 or more with our montainous terrain.
I love the guy just throwing stuff up on the pallets. No shink wrapping it and probably no load bars and straps between the pallets. No load line just pile it up to the roof and wonder why when you slam on the breaks the shit comes flying through the side of the trailer...
What a bunch of garbage! Reminds me of "Reefer Madness"! Triples have been in Oregon for more than 30 years and have caused NO ACCIDENTS EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THEIR USE IN OREGON. Not one time. Check with the State of Oregon who did a study on them. They are GOOD for road for a weight perspective (if you had to move 1 million pounds from x to y it is more efficient to move it with triples). But California bans them! Yes, they shouldn't be used in downtown LA but use them on I-5!
in most of america they run "half loaded" trucks, bigger and heavier rigs make better fuel economy, fewer trucks on the road that means safer and greener roads for everyone:p
Maybe now that House Transportation Committee chairman James Oberstar (D-MN) has been voted out maybe we'll see some action on getting the truck size and weight freeze that has been in effect since 1991 lifted.
Railroad propaganda, plain and simple. I'm sick of @ssholes dragging out the highway cost and trucks are screwing up "their" roads claims, too. Every single time these jack-@sses bring it up, the Congress orders another study which proves that the trucks are actually subsidizing the idiots who can't manage to keep their cars between the lines. It's also time for the REAL morons to take a look out behind their favorite store and find the imaginary railroad tracks...
look tie ur loads down and use longer draw and the and the u can run up to 5 trailers with no problem our trucks can be up to 50m long and up to about 200 tones hane a look ho we run our rd trains in australia
Looks like these drivers did pretty good seeing how these trucks probably werent allowed on side streets anyway. they probably got the dumbest drivers they could find to do this video. Just a thought. Dont piss off the people that deliver your shit. Rather you know it or not your life is in that drivers hands.
I agree - a lot of LTL carriers run triples where I live in Colorado, and it's pretty rare to see much of any whip in the trailers for an extended period of time. A handful of companies (including Swift for Gods sake) run turnpike doubles here as well and if Swift can do it successfully on a consistent basis, I'd say they're pretty damn safe.
Modern 600+ horsepower engines would solve the problem of the trucks being to slow. I think it's funny how they destroyed that trailer on the turnpike doubles because they didn't know how to secure the load!
In florida you can haul 2 48 ft trailers but for you to do that the terminals they are going to have to have a off and on ramp that goes into their facilty so these trucks are not driving on city streets. Most states allow you to pull triples of 28 ft trailers but california aloow you to only pull 2 28ft trailers!!!
How? They damage the roadway and cause other traffic to either be slowed down on inclines or reverse so the trucks can make the wide turns! I think semi trucks are a horrible way to ship freight. We need to invest in a more efficient way!
@acuralegend07 You must not realize that everything you buy comes on a truck. I am not trying to be an ass, but I hate when people don't understand how much they depend on trucks. When is the last time you seen a train, Plane, or ship, delivering anything to your supermarket? Think before you speak!!
@powerstroked2002 I did think before I spoke. I know everything gets shipped by truck. I'm not stupid. That is why I said we need to invest more into different ways of shipping and not rely too much on trucks. Have you ever been to Europe and have seen there rail system? It is amazing how many different countries can work together to create an amazing rail system when we, the U.S. a single country, cannot even create an alright rail system.
The European rail system is geared to moving passengers, they stink at moving freight. North American freight railroading is far superior to anywhere else in the world, but for the most part it is not suited for time-sensitive traffic. A few years ago, UPS added 2,000 tractors to their fleet to handle business that they were pulling off of the rails because the railroads couldn't meet UPS' on-time preformance standards.
if the load was properly secured in the turnpike, the pallets wouldn't have shifted

Aussies simply laugh at the douchewaffles that don't want triples and extra-long trailers on US roads.

my opinion: on highways,300 foot long! but the bridges in america are in bad shape, too weak to take the 40 ton load let alone a 200 ton loads.

The turnpike doubles look like the most efficient combination. We should have more of those on the road. Sorry railroads, I know you hate them.

A very efficient way to move freight, it's a shame they aren't more widely used.

@acuralegend07 - Without trucks how
the hell are you supposed to get a shipment
of products to the stores? Heres the
answer! YOU CAN'T! Without semi
trucks the world stops! After all they
handle over 70% of the countries freight!
