Say what you will about how the TAM looks, those of us who have one can sit back and appreciate the fact that the value is only going up on these machines. There are few Macs that increase or even hold their value, the TAM is one of them. You can buy a new Mac Pro and it might be worth a couple grand in the next year or two, but what about ten years? The TAM is increasing in value. A used TAM just sold for 1500.00 last week on eBay. A MIB sold for 7300.00.
To all those saying the TAM is ugly, you couldn't be further from the truth. I have one in my entertainment center and I still use it at parties playing music through Signal to my iTunes server (custom kiosk display). As the music changes the screen updates with cover art and you can even control the music. SO many people always comment on how cool the TAM looks, even these many years later. You who critique obviously don't have one. And mine cost $2500, dropped from the $7500 mentioned.
The thing looks horrible these days, not stood test of time. unlike some other macs, but I'm pretty sure this look decent compare to other desktops around at the time, well I guess so lol.
@AppScreencast Not really, this machine was fugly as hell when it was introduced, too. Everyone knew it, but at Apple nobody dared to speak out. Even Jon Ive has an off day, apparently.
But you know what? Steve Jobs was not around at that time. Had he been, this would never have been released. Gil Amelio was running Apple, and it was the dark days before Jobs' return. When people were saying Apple should just give up. I guess this travesty is a good expression of those dark times, actually.
I'd love to hear what - if anything - he would say about it now. The 20th anniversary Mac is quite possibly the ugliest Mac ever.
I didn't know Jon Ive designed it, I always kind of assumed this happened without his knowledge. Well this video is proof to the contrary. Doesn't change that the thing is fugly. I am saying that as one of Ive's biggest fans, with an iPhone 4, an iPad, and a MacBook Pro all in my vicinity.
Nice! Very good find! But you know, de-interlacing is not that hard (that would get rid of the weird lines, when the picture is changing/moving rapidly), provided if the source material was a VHS casette.
Not one of his or Apple's greatest moments, or the Cube!

I liked the way it looked. You can see the same kind of design live on in modern iMacs.

@iMhike you're forgetting that $7,500 included delivery by limo and setup of the TAM by a butler wearing white gloves...bargain huh :-)
