polarization is basically a filter for light. light is moving in every direction in every way from it's source. so in one direction the lens will let all the light through, but if you turn it, it only allows light that is moving only in one direction. thus it got darker
if you get 2 lens together and shot a flashlight through them you'll see that when you turn one lens the light will completely disappear and then come back lol you just have to see it for yourself

Whats don't you get?
The polarized film cut the glare and reflected light off the top of the water and allowed you to see the rocks in the bucket.

It cut the glare and reflected light off the top of the water. Polarization does the same for snow, ice, wet pavment,car windsheilds and bumpers, etc. etc.

it varies, I recomend talk to someone at Sunglass World (Not sunglass hut) or Sunglass station. These stores are easist tio find inside outlet centers or other malls. But Prices range from basic $19 models(or cheaper for poor quality drug store models) or you can get the best quality with Maui Jim which in addition to being polarized also is the only sunglass with a Blu Light Managment system that enhances colors and details. and catches light behind the lenses so you never need to squint.
