You guys both got it wrong. I worked there at the time and when Mark chose to leave, an agreement was made on how much to pay him for his shares of the company. When it didn't happen the legal battles ensued as did the negative rumors and lies. It was very tense around the shop after that and eventually lead to the sale. Car was fast for a 2 bolt main block. Ran 9.48 @ 148 with 10.5 tire and 8.80 with larger tires. Back when we had to beg people to run turbos. Funny how the world changes.
Yea I hear it was the other way around. Since they were partners, who really knows what happened. Either way, quiet car. Doesn't seem like it's that fast at all.
wyldfantasyx: It was like 98 degrees with 85% humidity (heat index was 107) & the sun was beating down on the stands all day. Aluminum stands get HOT.
Last time I spoke with Corky Bell, the owner of Cartech in San Antonio, TX, he told me that Mark Harwell embezzled a ton of money. He is now in some other scheme no doubt

There was a story about the black 87 sleeper GT from Cartech of course back in the day. Was it from motor trend or from hot rod mag?
